“Very Unhappy in Paris”
As a business traveller, I need very few things, a comfortable room, high speed internet and air conditioning. This hotel has none of these. The "Complimentary Internet" listed on Expedia is only in the lobby (not my faviorite place to spend 4 hours sitting goign though my emails at night. There is no Air Conditioning in the rooms, which are quite unkept. The desk is the same size as my computer and I can barely fit my mouse on it, there is no shower curtains int eh room so water gets everywhere. The bed is very uncomfortable. I changed rooms 3 times and had the same lame quality in each room. The last straw is the hotel allows pets, also not stipulated on the website and make for a musty stinky room (yes, all three fo them. If you're asthmatic like me, you'll not have a very good time in Paris staying at this hotel. Way over-priced for what you get. Staff was friendly though and the Hole-tel is close to the metro. I have to end it with somethign nice and that's all I can think of at the moment.
“an ok place to stay”
This hotel is away from the tourist area so we felt that we were getting a more authentic Paris experience. The Metro is less than 1 block away. This hotel met our expectations and we were satisfied with it, however I am reluctant to recommmend it as others may expect more.
“Good times in Paris”
Hotel was nice for the price, slightly out of the way but doesn't matter with the "Metro" system. Close to Jim Morrison's , Oscar Wilde's grave sites. Would go back and breakfast is good, just don't sit in the back dining room they close it often and make you move! Good time.
“Awsome hotel to stay at when in Paris!!!”
This hotel is really awsome! The staff was very helpful at the front desk. Our room was a typical european room but very clean and comfortable for 2 people. The bathroom was very clean too. We had house keeping everyday and a continental breakfast was included in our stay. The metro is literally 1.5 blocks way from the hotel and the neighborhood is safe enough to walk around at night. There were many cafe's and restaurants to pick from and even a little grocery store for small shopping. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a cheaper place to stay that isn't right downtown but still convenient to all major tourist attractions. When we go back to Paris, we will definitely be stay at this hotel. :o)
“Very satisfatory for our needs”
The hotel is situated in a quite neighbourhood of Paris, just a short step from the Voltaire metro station. It was clean, safe and comfortable though the room was small. The attached bathroom was also clean adequate, and both were well maintained while we were there. Breakfast was served promptly every day at 7:00am in the small dining room on level -1, and there was a daily choice of cereal, yoghurt, slices of meat. varieties of bread, and plenty of coffee or tea. The staff behind the front desk and those in the dining room were most helpful, returning a bag to our room one time that we left it in the dining room, and also helping me connect to their wifi system on another occasion. I would probably return to this hotel if I were to revisit Paris, though I might also look for a less expansive hotel further from the city centre but still on the metro of I could. Staying in other hotels and B&B's around France after our stay in Paris, I found this hotel to be considerably more expensive than any other; however it is a Paris hotel so prices there are always going to be more than outside the capital.
“Not as expected but basic no frills accomodation”
Room was very small and hard to navigate due to lack of space. The door opened directly into the master bed. Bathroom and overall room was clean and functional to sleep. Would have a been a little better for 2 people versus 3. Overall the employees was friendly when you approached or asked questions. Best part of the stay was the continental breakfest which was cozy, clean with fresh good baked goods/cereal. The wifi was free in the room and the lobby had one computer that could be used.
“Good value, but . . . .”
The staff at the hotel was EXCELLENT! They were friendly, helpful . . . really exceptional service in every way. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful with many choices including fresh breads, meats, cereals, yogurts and of course, very strong coffee! The room itself was a little disappointing . . the carpet must was warn out and gave the room an appearance of being very drabby. The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a baby. I was on the "first" floor . . . which in Europe is equivalent to the American 2nd floor . . . anyway, I had wireless in my room, but many of the rooms on higher floors were without wireless. As a business traveler, this is very important to me. Overall, the hotel was a good value for the price I paid, but the quality of the room itself was more of a 2 star and not the 3 star that was advertised. The staff's friedliness was great.
“Not Impressed”
Not impressed at all and would not stay again. Staff is not friendly at all and even the last day we were going to leave at 7:00AM to the airport and the staff got upset because we went down to get some coffee. We were told that breakfast does not start until 7:00 am and we were too early. We were there at 6:45 and although everything was served and in place; they were upset because we were getting coffee. Rooms are very small and I was expecting that but not expecting to feel unwelcome by staff when requesting or asking a question. I would not recommend it at all.
“had a good stay”
The hotel was clean, comfortable and close to the metro and taxi stand. The breakfast that was included was excellent. It was good value for the money.
“Great for Paris”
New Hotel Candide was a very nice experience. It was very reasonable getting it through Expedia.ca, and there was a very substantial breakfast each morning. The room was good, no air conditioning so it was hot at night, but it had large windows that could be kept open. We enjoyed our stay there - it is close to the metro and easy to access all of Paris. A good choice
