“Decent location and helpful staff, but room was bleak”
The location is not bad. It's just a few blocks from the most heavily-touristed part of the Marais, and seemed to be in an area in which local people lived, which was nice. It's on a tiny side street, which is also good, as there was less noise than otherwise expected (and the windows were double-glazed, which helped). Staff was very courteous and helpful. The lobby and breakfast area were simply decorated and tiny, but not unpleasant. Carpeting in the stairs was worn and damaged in places, unsightly and almost dangerous. It had the usual tiny lift: if you had a large bag you couldn't get yourself and it inside at the same time. Also, you sometimes just couldn't get it to come at all. If accessibility is at all an issue, forget about it. None of this was out of the ordinary for this kind of place, but the real problem was the room. I expected it to be small, which it was, but it was bleak and depressing: everything was beige and looked worn, mattresses were cheap and uncomfortable and bed linens weren't nice. Seeing it for the first time was a downer. A comically small bathroom, again not unexpected. There was a small table fan, but no A/C -- barely OK in early October but I cannot imagine it in the summer. It had only 2 stars, so I know I shouldn't be too demanding, but it wasn't cheap, and I would have expected something that was made to feel just a bit more comfortable for that price. Our experience wasn't awful, but I'll look elsewhere next time.
“Wonderful hotel in the Marais”
We had a wonderful stay at my Hotel in Paris, The Marais. The room was comfy and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The bath was a bit small, but fine. Lovely neighborhood, close to transportation, very safe and walking distance from the Bastille in one direction and the Pompideau in the other direction. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend this hotel to others!
“nooknaha”
the hotel was very nice compare with the price we paid. Staffs are very much helpful and service mind more than our expectation. Room and bathroom were tiny but clean. Breakfast not much choices, only coffee and bread so we did not excited about it. Lunch box was ok we can survived with it. Great overall. Would recommended.
“Good if you're looking for value and traveling alone”
I'd stay again on a solo trip, but not sure I'd go with my wife. Maybe they have other, bigger, rooms. But even still, the elevator was extremly small. Service was good, sometimes great. Easy to get around once you figured out where the metro was. Since I was visiting my daughter in school, I wanted someplace walking distance and that worked well. Seems like a good value, but no frills.
“Very good value”
This was my first time to France and I enjoyed this hotel. The staff was friendly and spoke near-perfect English (which, as a non-French speaker I appreciated on my first international trip). DId I mention my trip occurred at the tail end of the Icelandic volcano event that shut down European travel? 'Cause that's NOT a time you want to have any miscommunications with your hotel staff. :) I was pleased with the wifi service and morning snack and beverage. The location is also convenient to a Metro stop, an excellent bakery, lots of restaurants, and a BNP ATM (This was awesome since Bank of America doesn't charge fees for using these ATMs). The only thing that could have been better about the experience were the TV options. For a hotel that markets itself to English-speaking tourists, all of the cable channels were in French. Again, not a deal-breaker by any means, but I would have rather watched the TV instead of streaming from my laptop. But the wifi handled that well. I would stay here again, for sure. ... and, yes, the elevator IS tiny! I was excited to see it after reading the reviews and it did not disappoint - it was like a moving closet!
“Inexpensive Hotel in Le Marais”
I stayed there for two nights along with my sister, who stayed in another room with her daughter. The rooms were quite small, and the bathrooms were functional, but each had a little something off. (The handle on the drain stopper on mine was missing and the shower leaked a little in the room my sister was in.) That said, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The internet was free. The breakfast was minimal, but the sack lunch was welcome. It is convenient to the Metro (well, a couple block walk) as well as shops and markets. No noise problems. Small cramped elevator though, but I only used it when moving luggage, otherwise the stairs were fine. I would certainly stay there again, but don't expect luxury. For the money, I think it was a really good value.
