“Great value in the center of Paris”
The Du Lion d'Or is a great value just a couple of blocks from the Louvre in the center of Paris. Don't go expecting an American style hotel, nor a 5-star hotel. If that's what you're looking for, expect to pay for it. The Du Lion d'Or is a European style hotel in an older building, but the interior has been kept up and is clean. The room was spaciously adequate and the beds were quite comfortable. The bathroom in the room was small (by American standards) but had enough room to comfortably move around in. I would definitely consider this hotel again on my next trip to Paris.
“Fantastic Location”
This is the location you want to stay at. Only 2 blocks from the Louvre and Park. Middle of downtown with loads of shopping and restaurants. Only 3 blocks from Opera House and Paris' largest indoor mall with more than 1,000 shoes on display in their shoe department. Only 2 blocks from Metro. The room was adorable with a mini kitchen and dining room table. Our 2 boys slept in a loft with a queen size bed which they loved. The king bed was extremely comfortable with down comforter. About 1/4 blocks off of main shopping street for a peaceful night sleep with the window open. Free computer in the lobby. Well worth the money!!
“Fabulous location near to Louvre and Tuileries Garden, with internet cafe”
My wife and I stayed in this hotel for three nights in February 2010 and were very pleased with its fabulous location a block and a half away from the Louvre and Tuileries Garden, down a side street so our room was quiet. Our room was tiny, but clever and recently re-done. There is an internet cafe on the ground floor and a couple fine neighborhood restaurants. All around this area are fancy boutiques on Rue Saint Honore. The location of the hotel was so close to the main sights we had come to see that we could conveniently return during the day and drop things off and go back out without long treks.
“Location Location”
This is a fantastic location, definitely the 1st District is where we wanted to stay. The Hotel was very comfortable and great for 5 people, we stayed with 2 adults and our 3 children, 10, 9, 6. We were finding it very difficult to find accommodation to fit us all in, and came across this Hotel. We stayed in the 2 bedroom duplex with 2 singles, a Queen and a fold out sofa bed, it was very comfortable and perfect for families. The staff were friendly and helpful and we loved our 5 days in Paris! They are in the middle of a renovation at this Hotel and cannot imagine their prices will stay this affordable for very long.
“Un hôtel à recommander”
Très bien situé à proximité des transports en commun et d'une foultitude de restaurants (Opéra, Madeleine, Palais Royal) . Personnel accueillant. Confort de la chambre même si l'isolation n'est pas parfaite (single room enclavée je précise) et ergonomie des installations. Trois jours où j'ai apprécié de revenir me reposer entre les visites et rendez-vous. Bon rapport Q/P
“wouldn't return”
The hotel location was good for Louvre and Metro. Staff were not the friendliest. Reception was in an internet cafe and we had to queue outside to be seen. room was in another building up 3 flights of stairs which was veru uncomfortable with heavy suitcases as no lift. We wanted to leave our luggage on day of check out so that we could use the day in Paris but the storage was under the computers in the internet cafe and we didn't feel comfortable leaving the cases there. Room was reasonably clean and comfortable however we booked for 5 people but there was only a double bed and 2 single beds available when we arrived. Overall I think this hotel was very expensive for the service and its offering
