“Lovely place to stay.”
The staff at L'Atelier Montparnasse were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The room was quite small, as are many similarly priced Paris hotels, but it was quite perfect as a base and close to La Gare Montparnasse which we needed for our departure.
“Great value for the right type of traveller”
TripAdvisor reviews are pretty accurate. This is NOT an American-style luxury hotel. The room is small, the amenities are basic, & the elevator is smaller than you are thinking; the newly enclosed spiral staircase is even more daunting! That being said, this is a great choice for a value-oriented traveler who wants to stay in a traditional Parisian-style hotel. The small staff is great. Everyone spoke English, offered suggestions, held open the door etc. Very helpful even late at night. Wireless web was free and worked very well. The bed was comfortable & there were extra pillows/blankets, older but still very clean. The bathrooms have tiled frescos (each room different) which gave a very homey, non-corporate feel. The 3 floor to ceiling windows in my room (#42) faced the street and swung out wide, opening the room up to the outdoors. Thus in decent weather, the room does not feel cramped; a waist-high railing makes the windows feel like a balcony. The hotel is just off busy Montparnesse, a major restaurant/night-life area (crowded but safe & not rowdy). If you are a light and early sleeper it will be too noisy, but I slept like a baby. Four metro stations within 3 blocks serve different lines & will take you anywhere in Paris without a transfer. Luxembourg Gardens, just 3 blocks away, are fantastic. Every kind of food, including the best bakeries in the world, are within a block or 2. The walk to the city center at Notre Dame will take about 25 minutes.
“sweet little hotel”
I definitely recommend this sweet little hotel. It's great if you want something better than a budget hotel but aren't in need of luxury. I would recommend for those on holiday not for business. The service was great, especially from Lee who welcomed me to the hotel, pointing out everything I needed to know. My room off the street was very quiet. Clean and well run. Located on the border of an interesting neighborhood (St. Germain) and one that is a bit quiet (Montparnasse), which was great because there were lots of amenities (a street with 11 creperies on one block is just a block away and the metro is less than a block away) yet it was not completely overrun with tourists or chaotic.
“hotel bien situé, proche montparnasse”
bien situé calme prix raisonnable
“Excelent location, good basic hotel”
Friendly staff and very helpful. Internet access included. Very convenient location, Metro station Vavin around the corner, walking distance from Gare Montparnasse and Luxembourg gardens. The only two complains were water from the shower spills over the floor and some cigar smell in the room.
“Great location, small & basic but friendly”
OK if you just want somewhere in a great location for sightseeing, a room to shower/bathe & lay your head. Very compact rooms & bathrooms - whole place is small - clean though. Bathroom facilities could do with a sealant check here & there (some leaks) but plenty of hot water & facilities worked well. Not the place to expect sleep at the weekend unless you can sleep through club/bar noise - locality has 'lively' streetlife too. Staffed on a shoestring but all friendly and helpful. Would stay there again but not Friday or Saturday night in summer.
“great hotel to chill in paris”
this hotel gets an "A" for air conditioning. Small tight main lobby and hallways. They were installing fire doors and walls around the circular staircase which will make it even tighter. the elevator is a 2 man and very small. No luggage fits with 2 people. overweight folks should not stay here.
“hotel au calme bien situé mais les chambres sont en mauvais état”
hotel au calme bien situé mais des travaux de peinture des chambres s'imposent.
