“I would stay here again”
I reserved a triple room, one double and one single beds. I cannot complain about anything. Our room was in the 1st floor with a mini-balcony. Breakfast was excellent, perhaps they could prepare the eggs differently each day, but it was perfect to start the day. Bathroom was somewhat small but always clean. Coffee is not provided in the room, but there is a machine in front of the reception.
“THE IDEAL GETAWAY”
Ideal Hotel Design is in the south of central Paris. It is a short ride on the subway from Gare du Nord, and is quite literally on the steps of the Porte D' Orleans exit. The hotel has quite a surreal feel with a downstairs reception area decked out in dayglo baubles and a huge plasma TV. The reception was manned by multilingual receptionists happy to communicate in English or French. Firstly, the not so good points: There is a lift which is possibly the narrowest lift you'll have ever seen you literally struggle to get into it with a tray, but giving you ample opportunity to snog your girlfriend when using it! Also, don't book this hotel if you want a nice view Porte D'Orleans is not the most picturesque area of Paris and indeed, our balcony faced the back of another building covered in netting! Breakfast can be taken in your room between 7:00am and 10:30am with a quick phonecall to the reception (There is a 3 Euro charge for this but it is well worth it; remember the lift!). Otherwise, there is a continental buffet on the first floor. Ideal Hotel is a very nice place to stay for a very cheap price. The room was very clean and tidy and the decor was pleasing. All bathroom areas were scrubbed and re stocked every day. The staff were friendly and good humored. A minibar was also available, although it was stocked with Pringles and soft drinks but no alcohol (so perhaps they don't have a licence). There are restaurants within about two minutes' walk.
“Pure pleasure in Paris”
The hotel's staff were very friendly and extremely helpful with maps & directions. Conviently located with Metro at door, fab restaurants in neighbour, cake shop next door, supermarket around the corner. We had a balcony room which was large for Paris standards. Paris was brilliant ,Hotel great. We hope to return.
“Bijou & Funky”
This hotel was fab - it was right by one of the exits at Porte D'Orlean Metro (Line 4) and was really accessible from the Gard Du Nord - the staff were very friendly and check in simple. The room we had was spacious and whilst there was no air con there was a floor standing fan which made sleeping very comfortable. There are plenty of shops and bars in the vincinity and a set breakfast was available from most for a reasonable price. The lift is exceptionally small, but this just adds to the quirkyness of the hotel and it will give you the opportunity to see what it feels like to be in a freezer box!!!! All in all exceptional value for money in the most expensive city in the world!
“Convenience Convenience Convenience”
Nothing beats the convenience of having the Metro entrance right in front of the hotel's entrance. Easy Metro ride to all the main attractions in the city. Very clean and comfortable room. Located in a very nice neighborhood with plenty of places to eat close by. I was able to find a great rate (1/2 off) but the regular rate seems find considering all the conveniences. Could have a better selection of TV channels - but, do you really go to Paris to watch TV? Don't think so...
“Comfort and Convenience”
Hotel Ideal Design is an absolute bargain at the fees charged through expedia at least. The way people moan about the elevator on these pages is pathetic. If they spent more than 5 minutes in it their whole trip then they were probably up to something they shouldn't have been....people will moan about anything if you let them. The hotel is quirky, modern, has a youthful vibe to it and above all is very, very convenient for anywhere in Paris because Porte D'Orleans Metro station is right on the doorstep(literally). Buy a carnet of ten tickets for E11.60 and the world or Paris is your lobster, with the centre and all it's delights in an easy 10-15 minutes. Even in the neighbourhood there are charming, interesting things to do/see(just Parisian people watching is endless fun). We're talking the outskirts of the city here and still it's easy to enjoy yourself. How many of you can honestly say that they would spend any time at all on the edges of your own town/city and still have a bloody good time? H.I.D. is a great base to use when visiting this astonishing city and we will definitely be returnig ASAP.
“Cute Hotel”
The room very clean, so convenience because so close to subway but a little noisy.
“Great Location, great service”
Rooms have a very comfortable size, it have all you need. Location is great, and access to tram and underground. Loved it!
“Reasonably good Paris Hotel”
Considering the budget price it had a nice room, and good buffet breakfast. The staff were friendly, and the hotel location is convenient right next to the metro. Although you may spend extra time on the metro considering the location, you wont have to spend time walking when you arrive.
“L'hôtel”
Hôtel accueillant avec du personnel disponible de jour comme de nuit. Propre, pas trop bruyant.A recommander. Petit déjeuner copieux.
