“Loved the Hotel”
The Staff were wonderful, very helpful and knowledgeable! The location can not be beat and area was close to metro and many places to eat. Beds were old and not that gret but we were so tired each evening we hardly noticed. Would definietly stay there again!
“Concierge services were superb!”
This was ny 2nd stay at the Hotel Sully Saint Germaine; and, if I'm fortunate enough to return to Paris for a third time, I would definitely stay there again! It's within walking distance to Notre Dame, the River Seine; and, of course, all of the boat traffic on the Seine to enjoy. There's a litle cafe/bisro right across from the Hotel; and, I got my newly-acquired skills in French to practice with the Staff!. The Staff at Sully was really terrific! As I said, I'll stay there again; and, recomment it to others. It's in a great neighboard. Kudos to the Sully! My only advice to incoming Americans is that they need to "up-grade" their room size; or, they may find themselves in a very tiny room!
“All great, except for moldy showers :(”
Great location, nice room, breakfast OK.... BUT... the shower was moldy. I told the front desk person, they wrote it down, but nothing was done.
“Would definitely go back”
I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a neighborhood that I know well, very near to my old appartment, so there was great sentimental value to me in staying there. It is right near Notre Dame and not a long walk to other great neighborhoods. The metro is very close. There are many shops and places to eat and a great weekend market. This is a student area and there were many people on the street late night which did not bother me, but might disturb some. The hotel was comfortable and clean, nothing fancy but for the price, excellent. There was local TV. I did not try any internet services but I actually liked that they advertised only dial up service, so that I was not tempted to bring work with me. I did not eat breakfast at the hotel and did not use their phone, so I cannot speak to any additional charges. I just checked out, no taxes or other charges were added.
“Hotel location saved the trip!”
France is an amazing place to visit but can be difficult. Many people understand English but don't want to try to speak it. Scam artists, thieves, aggressive peddlers and beggars abound. With all that said we had a great time and felt a great deal of that was due to our hotel location. We were away from the main tourist areas just far enough to escape the craziness but close enough to get where we wanted to go quickly. Maubert subway station was just one block away. The market down on St Germain was AWESOME! Nice cafe, excellent little locally owned shops for cheese, wine, fruit and every kind of amazing bread product you could want. Our meals eaten away from our neighborhood we're never as pleasant an experience as the ones close in. The room was good size and had a mini-fridge which was VERY useful. The bed was a bit lumpy and the room had trouble warming up but other than that the hotel was excellent. The staff was very helpful and all spoke fluent English. We honestly felt that if we had stayed in a larger place closer to the chaos we would have enjoyed the trip much less. As it was we had a great experience. The elevator is so small it's funny but because the hotel is small we never had to wait for it long. And since we were on the 7th floor that was very important.
“Solid hotel, good neighborhood”
We got this hotel mostly for location, and it did not disappoint: a block off St. Germain des Pres main drag, heart of Latin qtr, next to Pantheon, and halfway between Notre Dame and Rue Moufetard (best outdoor food market in Paris). Rooms were fine, nothing special, but clean and even a little pretty. Not such a touristy spot, almost like living in a real Parisian neighborhood.
“Excellent location, but not a luxurious stay by any means.”
The check-in/lobby and lounge area are quaint and beautiful. The rooms looked nothing like what I saw on the website. I arrived very early from an overseas flight, and waited comfortably in the lounge area for a room to be cleaned. They were very courteous and let me check in at 10 am. My room was a 'double' and very small (even by European standards.) The bed was clean, linens were nice, and the mattress was extremely firm--which annoyed me at first but I ended up getting an excellent night's sleep on it. The bathroom was minimal, which is to say the toilet is within inches of the shower, which is also extremely small. The surrounding neighborhood is utterly delightful near The Sorbonne, not far from Notre Dame etc. There are local convenience stores nearby too. Great location but do not count on this as a place to lounge and enjoy your room. It's clean and efficient and a great place to keep your stay brief.
“Good for the price range”
We found this neighborhood as a safer, cleaner, less congested and more quaint of all of Paris. It's very close to Notre Dame and the other parts of Paris are easy access through the metro subway. Think of a 2 star Comfort Inn. The hotel is clean (wood floors) and we had the street side rooms which are not that noisy unless you're a light sleeper, but if the AC is on (only summer activation), then you can shut the balcony windows. The walls had padded so I suppose that helped with neighbor noise. The bathroom has a full size bathtub and nicely done in marble. The quieter courtyard rooms have the tiny cruise ship size showers. Most Parisians are skinny so tiny elevators and showers are not an issue to them. There were at least 20 restaurants and bars of a variety of ethnic foods and of course traditional French dining within a 3 minute walk. Coin laundry and grocery stores are within a block. Any hotel is this area is a good bet. I do not recommend the north of the Seine (right bank) as it's spotty dirty and congested. Be prepared that the quality levels overall in Paris anywhere are a tad bit lower compared to American standards (such as towel quality) but it's good enough to have a great time!
“Great location... lumpy pillows”
The front desk folks were nice and helpful, except for one time when I did not get a wake up call when I requested for one. The location is just awesome though! Right in the middle of Saint Germain, where good restaurants are of abundance. Walking distance to Notre Dame, Latin Quarters, Le Marais, Louvre, Pantheon and Jardin Luxemborg. Negatives: The elevator is the tiniest I've seen... can only hold 1 person + 1 medium-sized luggage; The pillows are lumpy and the bed is not comfortable; The shower is tiny - you coudn't avoid being in contact with the shower curtain as you shower; The breakfast is the same everyday, especially when you're paying 10 Euros a pop.
“Great location, small but comfortable rooms”
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Rooms are small and simple (sometimes difficult with luggage) but very comfortable. Our room also had a balcony. The elevator is very small as well but that's a price I'm willing to pay for not having to take the stairs each time! Front desk staff was always nice, though we had little interaction with them. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel as there are many great places nearby. And of course, the location is unbeatable.
