“Surprising find!”
The location couldn't be beat! The nautical/beach theme of the room/floor was a little strange and child-like, but the room was very, very clean. The bathroom was a nice touch, although the toilet smelled. The room got warm very easily, but opening the windows helped that out. Being near a cafe and a bodega was great for late-night snacking. And being right near the Metro was perfect for excursions throughout the city. Overall, a great place to stay in Paris!
“Quaint *old* hotel in the heart of Montmartre”
This property was an absolute efficiency hotel - tiny room/bathroom, but, hey - I was in Paris!!! This was my first visit to Paris as a single female traveler. The metro is right down the stairs and the Basilique du Sacre Coeur and the historic Montmartre area is literally steps away. The most amazing patisserie was two blocks away. My very first morning, I heard the nuns singing their matins -- heavenly! The hotel is very old - the carpet definitely needs to be replaced. The elevator could barely contain me and my suitcase -- anymore than two people would be claustrophobic. I just considered it a place to rest my head after a day of sightseeing. If you want something more luxe -- this isn't the place for you.
“Clean, tidy. good service, good value”
For a two star hotel this place offered everything it was supposed to. We had a great week there. Only two draw backs: the street noise went on rather late, but heh! we just closed the window; the air conditioner leaked water, but this was fixed the next day after we reported it. I'd definitely go back.
“Best location.”
Excellent location, services could be better.
“Exactly what I was looking for”
Clean enough and definitely comfortable, the hotel has the basic amenities necessary for a stay in Paris. It's location is excellent, right above a metro station near caffes and grocery stores and within a 10 minute walk of Sacre Coeur. There was free wireless available as well. I recommend it for the person looking for a cheap, safe and well located place to stay who is planning to spend most of their time outside of the hotel sightseeing etc.
“The worst.”
While we loved the location and neighborhood of this hotel, that's where the praise ends. I would never recommend staying here - I think accommodations at a hostel would be a huge improvement. To start, we got the keys to our room and upon entering, we were immediately disgusted by the condition of it. I pulled back the bed covers to find hair all over the sheets and mattress pad (unavoidable to see because there was no fitted sheet on the bed). I approached the man at reception to ask for our sheets to be changed, to switch our room - anything. Instead, he told me that the sheets were "100 percent guaranteed clean" and told me I was lying. Great start to our stay. The neighborhood was quiet, but the room doors slam so loudly and the walls are so paper thin that it was loud all night long. The lobby of the building - the only place to draw a strong WiFi connection - smelled so strongly of garbage that we could hardly stand it. During cleaning hours, the hallways are lined with dirty towels and garbage from each room. Not something you want to see as you're heading out for the day. These are very specific examples but it's all to say that we had a miserable time at this hotel. Unfortunately, we had to stick it out because we couldn't find other affordable accommodations but I would never recommend anyone staying here if they can avoid it.
“Book 2 Twins instead of a Double Bed...”
We recently returned from a 6 day visit to Paris with my husband and1.5 yr old son. I had been to this hotel before w/a girlfriend an thought if it were going to be anything like that (2 twins) sign me up! Unfortunately we opted for a 1 double and the room we got was just awful! I'm amazed they got the bed in in the first place! We barely had enough room to walk and my son absolutely HATED it! The worst part was, since we were staying 6 days, they couldn't put us up in another room as we'd just have to move bad on another day (don't really understand but whatever). Otherwise, its a fantastic hotel - just don't stay in the room we did (#302) :) Plus its in a GREAT area - 18th arrondisment. The metro is directly below the hotel (although, it reaks of urine and filth) but the #80 bus is also in front of the hotel and MUCH more scenic! takes you directly to Champs Elysses, St. Lazare and the shops in the 8th district. MUST TRY: there's a bakery at the end of the street...Boulangerie and they have the most spectacular croissants - not the best service but who cares :)
“beautiful location, characteristic but with some gap”
If you want the "parisienne" atmosphere it is perfect. Beautiful location, metro outside the door, cafeteria, bank, fantastic baker's shops very close. The hall porters were all very nice and competent. Small room, but up in a nice corner and quiet.
“Good on a budget trip”
Good hotel on a budget trip. A bit old rooms but clean all the time. Great front desk service, they provide a lot of useful info. Really close from metro station and Gare du Nord.
“Good Enough”
I was swayed by it being right beside a metro stop but its actually a steep stairflight up from it. Also, apparently you're never more than 500 yards from a metro station in Paris so any hotel is in a pretty good location regarding the metro
