“Never again!”
The location very convenient - right by Gard Du Nord train (and Eurostar) station. Our shower didn't drain - and had a very small pan; we only had any hot water twice in 7 days and the desk is absolutely not interested. Ceiling was badly cracked and wall paper peeling in the room. Would try any place else next time.
“Didn't plan on staying here”
Actually booked the Hotel Paradis but got confirmation for this one. Thought, OK, it will do. Fortunately when in Paris the room doesn't really matter as you don't spend much time there. Breakfast was fine, room was clean, plumbing worked. Overall it was a downmarket Faulty Towers.
“very good location close to Gare du Nord”
Very good thing is 1 miniute from railway station. Cosy, small there is elevator, plasma tv, balcony. Towels are changed daily. Bad thing is absence of breakfast included-it should be paid extra and booked beforehand-is rather expensive-7 euros. There are plenty of cafes nearby- and you may have your breakfast there. There is no haIr phone. There was a bathtub in the room.In common it s good for a 2 star hotel. Linen and bed is nice, clean.Near RER, metro - close to city center, Monmartre by walking. It takes 30 minuites to get CDG Airport and 40 minuites to center by foot. Latin quarter nearby is good for cheap shopping.
“Will never go back”
It's a dive. There's nothing nice I can say about this hotel. We paid for 3 nights but only stayed for 2 nights. Very small room, the room smellsbad , carpet is dirty, there is a big hole on the wall at the bathroom, bathroom shower is broken, the room was not cleaned on our 2nd day, and so on... They sprayed our room with strong insecticide while we were out on our tour. We didn't like to inhale the strong insecticide so we checked out a day earlier although we already paid for the room. It's a good thing we found another hotel with vacancy. The receptionist can hardly speak and understand English so it was hard to communicate with them. People hanging out by the lobby entrance didn't make us feel safe. Neighborhood is not safe. I will definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone and will never stay at this hotel again.
“Good location bad hotel”
If you are only planing a quick overnight the hotel is good, but the elevator is between floors and everything else is old
“Location”
I recommend this hotel mainly for its location; literally right next to gare du nord, plenty of restaurants around, about 30 min walk to louvre or notre dame, we walked to the eiffel tower and arc de triomphe as well, which each took about an hour, so others probably would want to take the metro for those. As for the hotel, a couple of the receptionists were nice and helpful, but one female receptionsist didn't speak hardly any english. The internet only worked in the lobby, so that was not very accomodating. The blankets had a couple of holes in them, but were overall ok, traffic noise wasn't too bad being right next to the train station. If you are travelling on a budget, not a bad choice.
“Great location”
This hotel is in a great location if coming in by air or rail. Just across the street from the Gare du Nord. Plenty of restaurants and easy access to the metro and tour buses. If you are looking for luxury accommodation then this is not for you but, if you want something affordable and basic then this is fine if you are spending your time exploring the city.
“Not impressed”
We booked a nonsmoking room, but the room that we were given had a strong cigarette smell, there was an ash tray on the table and burned holes in the curtains. We complained at the reception, the guy said that smoking is prohibited at every public place in France and was surprised that this happened at his hotel. However, to have an ash-tray in a non-smoking room was normal, as he said. He sent a maid to our room to spray air-conditioning "perfume" but this made the smell even worse. Finally, the guy changed our room to another one that was bigger and better. Staircase was very steep and narrow and the elevators tiny, but this is a case for the most 2-3 stars hotels in Paris. The location was perfect, just 3 minutes from Paris du Nord. This explaines why the place was fully booked.
“Not what was described”
The room was very small. Sitting on the toilet meant your knees were under the sink. The shower was small, leaking showerhead and falling curtain rod support. Towels were scant. There was only one maid working on the whole hottel. The hallway carpets were dirty, the elavator stops between floors and need to walk on stairs. Did not use it as I was stuck the second time I tried it. The hallway lights turn off at night making it very dark until you find the light switch to turn them on (on timer). The rooms are not noise insulated. Everything can be heard. For the money there are much bettter hotels to be found. This was a last minute rash reservation for an Expedia recomended last minute "deal". Sorounding streets are dark when the business close.
“Convenient, inexpensive, but a little run down.”
This my only hotel stay in Paris to date. The location was OK being virtully oppositve Gare du Nord, but still a fair hike to the major tourist attractions. If you sort out your buses and trains, all should be good. I was greeted by Serge who was welcoming and very helpful (even sorting my French mobile phone) He spoke English well. The breakfast staff were good. The other reception lady had a bit of difficulty. The hotel is old. It needs work. They seem to work hard to keep it clean. The room was very small, but what does one need? If it's just a bed you need, it's ideal. If you want your hotels to be a major part of your holiday, look elsewhere. The walls are very thin with a domestic argument some rooms away easily understood. The neighbourhood isn't pleasant either. My iniital online single room rates were fine, but when I booked an extra night for a double (no singles were available apparently) room, I was given the same single room at 33% on top of the nightly rate I'd been paying. Breakfast is meagre, but was enough for me. If you're a big person, this is not your hotel. The breakfast won't be anough & you will not be able to get into the shower. Eateries are everywhere, but my experience is that they are short order cooks who don't do it well at all. The worst? The lift isn't at ground level. I had to lug my suitcase up about 12-13 narrow stairs. Nutshell. If you're a bit tight, need a pillow and with access to good transport, give it a shot.
