“Highly recommended - Clean, friendly & central”
We had a spring break in the Hotel Observatoire Luxembourg and would highly recommend it. Very clean and the staff are all very nice and friendly. The hotel is very close to the metro and everything is within a stop or two. We did not eat in the hotel as we only had a weekend and so ate on the move as we wanted to cram everything in but the menu in the hotel looked quite good and reasonably priced and it was only due to time restrictions that we did not eat in the hotel, the restaurant was closed on Sunday.
“Charming Hotel”
The hotel is well maintained, nicely decorated, comfortable bed and a wonderful lady at the desk who is more than happy to provide all kinds of information. It is across the street from the Luxembourg Gardens and near a Metro. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance.
“Great and convenient small hotel”
Lovely though small rooms in a Hotel that is ideally located on Blvd San Michel. The back rooms are quieter and back on to a small street and overlook a beuatiful garden of a school for the deaf. We were there at the beginning of Spring and it was lovely watching everything growing while we stayed there over 10 days. Only criticisms is that the rooms are very cramped which makes it hard to contemplate spending too much time there (probably a good thing though Paris can be exhausting). Staff were very french - efficient but slightly aloof, however Moustaffa was the most ebullient and very helpful. A good all round hotel and a great location across from Luxembourg gardens and close to St Germain de pres.
“Great hotel.”
This is one of my favorite hotels, now. The staff was extremely accomadating and the rooms were very clean. The location was convenient for walking to various sites and having the Luxembourg Gardens crossed the street made it the perfect location. I would recommend the hotel breakfast maybe once or twice, but the bakeries around the corner are terrific too.
“Greatest Location”
This hotel has one of the best locations and of all Paris. I fully recommend it
“Second Stay - Looking Forward to Third”
This was second stay at Observatoire -- this time for an entire week. This is a great Parisien hotel - can't beat location / price combination! Friendly staff - clean rooms - and good size ones for Paris! My advice is to ask for a room facing the back -- especially if you want to open your windows as the front rooms overlooking Boul St. Mich can be noisy with traffic, etc. (My first visit was a front room -- and really, only when windows were open did you really hear the city noise.) While convenient, the 13 euro breakfast is NO deal! you can absolutely do better in neighborhood -- while ok, I only took advantage on Sunday morning when not a lot of places are open. Would definitely recommend.
“Wish I was able to stay longer - will go back”
I was very pleased with this hotel. I was in town for business and stayed at a different location and transferred to this hotel for an additional couple of days for leisure. The location of the hotel was fabulous - just steps from the RER. There were plenty of shops and cafes right outside the door. The staff was very friendly, spoke english and went out of their way to help us find dinner reservations and made recommendations. The rooms were big enough and comfortable, the bathroom was almost as big as the room. I will certainly go back.
“Great Hotel”
I would highly recommend this hotel. The location was great--right across the street from the Luxembourg Gardens (where I went running every morning) and close to the Pantheon and many good cafes. The room was small, but the bathroom was contemporary and had a nice large bathtub. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I would definitely return!
“Charming hotel”
Lovely hotel in a great location near Jardin de Luxembourg. Tastefully decorated, clean, air-conditioned rooms with good views and helpful, English-speaking staff. Small but comfortable lobby, elevator, and internet accessibility. The prix fixe breakfast was expensive and had too many pre-packaged items. The coffee was American--the only place in France without expresso.
“Comfortable Hotel in the Latin Quarter”
Reasonably priced, comfortable hotel and very helpful staff. Although our room was at the front - double glazed windows meant traffic noise was not a problem. Opposite Jardin du Luxembourg where you can sit and people watch - lots going on from early morning to closing of gates at sunset. In the Latin Quarter so very interesting shops, especially book shops. Odeon is nearest Metro station which is about a ten minute walk - but RER outside hotel. Only a twenty minute walk to the Louvre/Notre Dame etc. Lots of interesting sites on the way such as St Sulpice, Pantheon so it may take longer! Only negative was that as we visited in August many local businesses (especially boulangeries) were closed for annual holiday. Brasserie attached to hotel was also closed during the weekend we were there but there was plenty of choice nearby - especially at Rue Soufflot.
