“Budget hotel, for the same price better Novotel”
Well in Novotel at least you know what you get.. it"s true that even four stars in Paris (Europe generally) cannot be compared with the US' or South East Asian's standards. The elevator only fits 2 people, No amenities whatsoever (coffee thee or complimentary bottled water) but hey.. the room is clean. The staff was friendly, considering you're in Paris France. Th night receptionist got me a free parking spot when I need one (believe you me it's a rare commodity in Paris center. Surrounding neighborhood is bad. even late at night you hear people talking and noises outside. Vending machine was out of order, no nearby grocery store around that open late. But for two or one night, just for sleep after the whole day shopping and the center location in the 9th arrondisement, I'd recommend this hotel.
“In Paris with large room and parking”
Great hotel, very large room.
“"Cheap" Hotel - Poorly Maintained - Better than sleeping on the street”
The hotel is located conveniently to some Montmarte attractions, ie: within 10 minute walking distance - 20 minutes if you do not mind hiking up to the Sacre Coeur. This was the only postitive aspect of our experience. Our room was not ready at the stated check-in time. When we were provided a room, it was on the top floor and appeared to be a converted attic. Headroom was non-existant. Anyone of average height will likely suffer repeatedly - either banging your head or from prolonged crouching. Good luck if you need to go to the washroom in the night. Our stay was for two nights. On both mornings we had either scalding hot water or none at all. Overall maintenance of the hotel appears questionable. The lobby, common areas and in particular the room showed considerable wear and tear. The elevator would not always respond to the call button leaving one to descend the stair case with wavering hand rail. Most distrubing was our observation when a staff member dropped cutlery onto the floor, picked it up and then used it to set breakfast place settings. Finally, we found the evening staff at the hotel mostly indifferent to requests for assistance.
“not impressed”
Although we had booked and paid for the room well in advance, we were given a tiny room on the top floor that had a "door" that opened on to the roof, rather than a window. Anyone from another room, or neighboring buildings could get in. To get fresh air, you'd have to leave the " door" open - not safe - during the night. The carpets of the the Hotel were filthy. The bathroom was clean. Breakfast waas not included - cost 11 Euros per person if you want it. True, Paris is expensive, but at the top end of a 3 Star rate per night, we should have gotten more. The "plus:" location near the Metro, and if you want to be in crowded Montmartre, you're there.
“not impressed”
check in was fast, room was not clean and overall location and appearance of property for price paid was not up to par, location was in a seedy run down part of Paris that was not appealing, although close proximity to Metro System
“Don't want to get back”
IT is a well located hotel, but poor maintanance.
“For the money there's better”
The hotel is old (the rooms still have barrel locks!!!) but clean and in a good location. I wouldn't say "Don't stay there" but there are much better hotels for the same money in the area.
“Ok hotel and ok location”
Great location, cozy hotel, the triple room was really spacious. Too bad the breakfast was not included, we paid for it one day, but it was not worth it. There is an amazing restaurant in the neighborhood, the one that is kind of in the courtyard, and only has the daily offer menu. Highly recomend it!
“Hotel was good for Paris price”
We only had 3 days in Paris but where able to see pretty much everything that the city has to offer. The hotel was located close to the train station (Gare l est), only a few minutes by taxi, and close to the metro station. We had a hard time finding the hotel at first, since it is located in a back road, but we where greeted very friendly. For the price, the hotel was clean and had everything you would need for a few nights. Not much luxury, but we just needed a safe and clean place to stay.
“Great location, worth the money.”
The room was small, but clean. The location is very convenient. It is about two minutes from a metro stop and a nice walk from alot of major attractions. I did not find the staff particularly friendly, but they were not unpleasant. It could be a bit noisy with the window open, but since there is air-conditionning, that was not a huge problem. It felt very "European", which I liked.
