“Middle-aged ,single woman, French-speaking, seasoned traveler would stay here again”
Perfect location for someone who has visited Paris many times and wants to hear French and not be around only tourists. (Choose Arrondisements 1, 2, 3 or 4 for a first visit) Hotel is right outside of the 2d in the bottom of the 9th and just down the hill from the 18th with all the craziness there. It is quiet, on an interior street. At first glance, safety was a concern cause it is a bit secluded when you first go onto the street but I had no problems: I'm in great shape, age 51, so maybe young girls might have some issues. I was out as early as 5:00 am and as late as midnight. There is no steet noise or bleed-over from other rooms. But my room was next to the elevator and I could hear comings and goings. Great bed, crisps linens, and hot water, but my shower had a crack and the water in the bottom drained into the bathroom! Desk help was nice to me, but I speak French. I heard lots of English here and think those travelers weren't as happy as I. When I checked out I got some treatment too: my 3 short local phone calls cost a whopping 6.75 Euros! (about $11 US) The clerk was a bit rude. I didn't have breakfast but the dining room looked nice and clean. I would stay here again, but would stay away from any extras, like the phone. WiFi access was great.
“A good option close to the Louvre”
This is similar to London hotels - a bit tired and the rooms are very small. But it was clean and comfortable and very convenient for Louvre, Metro etc (there's also the Hard Rock just around the corner!). Good value for money. Also, and the big plus for me - the parking is fantastic. Very few hotel guests drive into Paris so I was the only car parked on the street in front, there are barriers to stop other cars parking. Anyone who's driven in Paris and wants their bumpers to stay intact will appreciate this. The hotel staff were very friendly even to the extent of letting me leave the car all day when we'd checked out, as we were on a bus tour.
“Excellent Hotel”
Great place; very neat; close to Metro so easy to get around Paris; definitely recommend hotel
“Great little hotel in a fascinating area in Paris”
Good attentive front desk helped me (and many other guests) overcome a variety of first day difficulties in English, Spanish, Italian and French. Breakfast was sufficient but delicious provided one liked croissants and scrambled eggs. The location is good and is typically Parisian French but clearly not a competitor to the Champs Elysees' hotels. At the price I paid, I was very content with my choice especially as it was chosen on a 'blind basis'. The hotel is located in a charming courtyard which prevents much of the traffic noise from penetrating the rooms. This hotel has 3 stars and deserved all 3.
“In Paris with large room and parking”
Great hotel, very large room.
“Ok hotel and ok location”
Great location, cozy hotel, the triple room was really spacious. Too bad the breakfast was not included, we paid for it one day, but it was not worth it. There is an amazing restaurant in the neighborhood, the one that is kind of in the courtyard, and only has the daily offer menu. Highly recomend it!
“Great location and decent for the price.”
Though it is not without certain drawbacks and/or shortcomings. Hotels in Paris are a roll of the dice when you are looking for a combination of affordability and relative luxury. At the same rate, one's experience truly is their own. My room was far better than expected and the bathroom especially was fantastic. While it is my philosophy that a room is merely a place to sleep while exploring such a wonderous city as Paris, you still don't really want to have reason to avoid or room or feel uncomfortable there. The staff was friendly and spoke relatively decent English. (Nicer if you at least say "bonjour", "merci" or any other simple phrases. It's just courteous.) We had turn-down service each day, fresh towels and such. The free breakfast was fairly decent with scrambled eggs, sausages, various breads, cereals, coffee and juices. The nearest Metro station is barely a two minute walk away. (Only fools use a Taxi in such a city, just my opinion.) Also, the surrounding area is filled with shops, restaurants and various other outlets for anything one could want or need. Once again, the Metro station is the best feature as all of Paris can be easily accessed from that one simple location. So, enough of my wordy review. While I'll state again that my experience could have just been a fluke, I would certainly be willing to take a chance on Hotel Mondial once again. Until then, au revoir. *^_^*
“Excellent location!!”
Hotel Mondial has an excellent locaton, near most attractions in Paris; staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complain is that they ran short of food for breakfast on a regular basis.
“Bon pour un séjour sans flafla.”
Bien situé, près de tout. Bon confort sauf pour ce qui est de l'insonorisation qui est désuette. Pourrait être corrigé. La réception la nuit est à améliorer. Personnel manquant, il faut attendre et on se fait servir par une personne toute endormie. Manque de commodité sur place mais on peut ramener d'ailleur. Il ne faut pas être difficile tout simplement.
“Great location, worth the money.”
The room was small, but clean. The location is very convenient. It is about two minutes from a metro stop and a nice walk from alot of major attractions. I did not find the staff particularly friendly, but they were not unpleasant. It could be a bit noisy with the window open, but since there is air-conditionning, that was not a huge problem. It felt very "European", which I liked.
