Les Degres deux Notre Dame
Les Degres provides old Paris charm. It is a "walk up" for everyone where narrow winding steps (no lift) re the only way up. Consider this is you're not in the best of shape or have large amounts of luggage. Service the first week of January was quite minimal but I has stayed there 20 years ago with fond memories & it delivered again. Its location is hard to beat

The non smoke room I was given smells strong smoke. The staff refused to switch me to another room even after I told him that I was taking medications to stop the allergy it caused me. “Just open the windows,” “the other rooms more expensive,” those are his excuses.

The location is amazing. Perfect. So close to everything and transportation is right at your door. One block to the Seine. That being said, the room had mold. The bathroom was especially gross. Even if we wanted to complain to management, there was no one at the front desk for days. The WiFi was not available in the room. We had to shave on the stairs or in the hall to use it at all. So that made it difficult to book tours etc. Overall, if they cleaned the mold and paid some attention to the guests, this would be a great place to stay. For us, two nights was barely tolerable. But the location is amazing.

Very good location able to see Notre Dame from our window. Unfortunately it was 108° during our visit and our room did not have refrigerated air conditioning. Staff supplied us with three fans.

The room was very small and quite dirty and the wifi did not work at all on the first night. The bathroom was quite gross and had a horrible smell which spread into the room.

Very conveniently located, hotel staff was very welcoming and nice. It was the hottest weekend in Paris and the hotel had fan in the room which was a lovely attention.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, and for the price it wasn't bad at all. We were on the 4th floor, and could see Notre Dame only a couple of blocks away out our window. Friendly check-in. Cleanliness was fine - clean bedding, clean towels. No service for our second night (no bed made, no clean towels), so make sure you hang your towels to dry. Bed was reasonably comfortable, and king size which is difficult to find in Paris. Be aware there is no elevator, and the stairs are windy (70 steps to the 4th floor). A bit difficult to navigate carrying even small luggage, as well as after a couple bottles of wine. :)

Location great. Staff was very pleasant, but the receptionist that was there when I was checking out spoke absolutely zero english. Room was nice and fairly clean but it's a real pity that the building is not cared for properly. Could've been so much better... Can't say more because the price was pretty decent.

It's got a lot of charm! We were on the 3rd floor (ie the fourth) and it's a narrow staircase, so if that's a problem, this place isn't for you. But it was comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Definitely not fancy, but it's in such a great neighbourhood!

Great location, on site staff very friendly and helpful (much more than over the phone), room was great with beams, bathroom roomy compared with other hotels in Paris, situated on a quiet street. Would definitely book there again.

Old hotel, great location
Location doesn't get any better than this. Literally across the river from Notre Dame. Easy walk to multiple metro stops, yet the hotel was quite quiet. Hotel is very old, and worn down. Bedding and towels were clean. You need to walk up narrow stairs to get to rooms. A bit moldy and damp but that is common for an old building. Staff was friendly and helpful, but be warned this is a small operation. We got in around 4, and I had missed an email from them asking when they would be in. It was locked and it took me some time to figure out how to call. Once I got in touch with staff, got in no problem, but this could have been a disaster for someone who didn't have a phone while traveling. I spoke with staff in French, not sure of their English skills.

The location of this hotel makes up for any shortcomings it may have. For the price, you can’t beat it. As long as you are ok with packing your bags up the narrow staircase of 50 + stairs and lack of tv. It does have all the basics as well as a/c. Mediocre breakfast available for 10 euros each.

Unfortunate Fire Alarm
Room was very spacious and large bed. Lots of stairs to climb as we were on the 4th floor. Only negative is that we had the fire alarm ringing from 130 until 2am, and then again at 7am and 745am, something faulty - no actual fire concern. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep. Hotel attendent very friendly and apologetic. Room was very comfortable.

Charming and spacious room and bathroom, Comfy bed lovely staff. Could be updated but that might ruin the charm. My only issue is the stairs very narrow steep and winding, it was an adventure going up and down the stairs daily. The location was amazing you can hear the bells from Notre Dame and the D'Orsay was walking distance away.

Very old and unique building! No elevator so carrying heavy luggage to the top floor in a small spiral staircase wasn’t easy. That is the only negative thing to say. The view of Notre Dame was amazing and the size of the room and bathroom were wonderful! We didn’t get the breakfast.

Beautiful hotel if a little rough around the edges. I first stayed here 10 years ago or more and it’s barely changed since. The staff are polite and friendly, always make you feel welcome. And it’s in a wonderful part of Paris with wonderful food and atmosphere.

Location was nice but room needed serious updating: one metal fan, no front cover, open window near bars where smoke entered at will, Paris nightlife noises to be expected, bedclothes sometimes suspect; with no A/C, window had to be open in June to allow cool air but also might have allowed access to any intruder

Quirky hotel close to Notre Dame
This little hotel is very close to the metro, the Seine and Notre Dame. It is surrounded by cafes and restaurants. We had a glimpse of the towers of Notre Dame from our top floor room, where we felt like poets in the garret.

great LOCATION FOR TOURISTS AND FIRST TIME VISITORS. A quiet and quaint place, a bit on the old fashion side but a lovely place to stay. The staff were more than helpful during our stay and was of great help in helping us find our way around to some of the exciting places to see nearby.

The bed had dirty sheets, strained yellowish spot, these weren’t changed during daily cleaning. The room smelled like smoke even though it was a non smoking room. The TV didn’t work. The plus side was that the room had wood floors so the smell wasn’t as strong as it would have been had there been carpets. The hotel is in a great location surrounded by shops. It was loud at night. The staff was super helpful. The rooms pretty much look like the rooms in the pictures. This hotel needs to invest in new bedding.

Reserved 2 beds, only got one. Was moved for 1 night to two different rooms, was moved again to a " suite" which consisted of one bed and a cot. Bathroom door had windows, with only sheats for "privacy". We stayed in the thitd floor, with stairs that were extremly difficult to navigate. Very narrow. Overall disappointed with the hotel.

Owner is an extremely rude person. Guests cant check in after 8pm. By the way, i sent message to the hotel before coming, twice, saying that we will be coming late at night, is there anything we should do. Never got a reply on that. We were ready to be stranded on the road, luckily a lady from nearby bar helped us out and luckily a couple who are staying in the hotel entered the hotel while we were waiting outside the door. We could get the emergency phone number of the hotel from the couple and with the help of the lady, we managed to get in the hotel. And even then, the owner was extremely rude and mean to both me and the lady who helped us. As if it was our fault that we came late. He never replied back to my message before. I cant stretch enough the fact that i will never come back to this place. Toilet seat was broken and tissue box had “2” tissue in that. And all this is from first 30min in the hotel.

Wasn't too happy when I arrived at the hotel as it looked very neglected. For the price we paid though I tried to overlook that fact. The 2 gentleman who manned the desk were very pleasant and helpful. This hotel needs a massive make over but then the prices would go up. The beds were very comfy and clean . We slept extremely well and would use again .

Charming Hotel Les Degres de Notre Dame.
This hotel is a unique experience. It is a centuries-old hotel which only has 10 rooms. There is no elevator and you will have anywhere from 10-70 steps up to your room on a narrow, spiral wood staircase. We were at the very top and used those steps to earn our chocolate-filled crepes! There is a very small lobby with service only between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. You will use a keypad to enter the hotel in the off-hours. Because of it's age, it will always have character and it would take away from the hotel if you were to renovate/ modernize it. It could be cleaner but certainly was not filthy or bug-ridden in any way. The price was also very attractive since, like most tourists, we were only in our room to sleep. It's just old, and old is charming. The charm of the hotel is it's excellent and convenient location in the Latin Quarter to the Seine and the cathedral of Notre Dame. It is located half a block from the river and two blocks from the bridge to the cathedral. There are at least five restaurants within ONE block of the hotel and a dozen or more within a five minute walk. The nearest metro station is three very short blocks away and can be reached in about three minutes. We found this location extremely pleasant and centralized. The plaza in front of Notre Dame is very peaceful and mostly free of the street vendors and pick-pockets (with fake petitions to sign) we saw in most other places. I don't hesitate to recommend it.

A sad decline...
We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have always enjoyed it. It makes us sad to see the condition it is in now. It feels like ownership is no longer local and that is reflected in the loss of upkeep, staff, and amenities. We used to recommend this hotel to everyone but we can no longer do so.
