“Good for the price”
We were looking for a cheap hotel because all we needed it for was to sleep after a long day and night out in Paris. It's a bit outside the center (about 25 minutes by metro to get to St Germain area), but it was a really good price so we went with it. Overall, we were satisfied with the experience. The room was old and small but clean, the main downside for us was that the street was noisy at night and they didn't have black out curtains so sleeping in in the morning was difficult. Still, we would stay there again to save money, and would recommend as a budget hotel in Paris.
“Cheap and nice folks”
I returned to this hotel because it is close to a Metro station and the staff were nice to us last time. The rooms are clean and it is a short walk from Montmarte and Sacre Couer. The neighborhood is nothing special, but there are plenty of businesses doing a lot of business - lots of places to get food and shop, just like the rest of Paris. I've paid more than twice the rate for a smaller room in an upscale hotel and all I did in either was sleep
“Just an All-Around Terrible Hotel”
The double room was incredibly small and bathroom extremely moldy. Water gets all over the whole bathroom and toilet if you take a shower If you have two people staying in a double bed forget about getting any sleep. Barely enough room for one person. All the rooms look out on each other so no privacy when you open the window everyone can stare in on you and vice versa. Was told by receptionist breakfast was included. Then the next day breakfast was late, and after waiting 15 minutes they finally put some stuff out. Tried the terrible industrial coffee and a baguette and of course disappointed but hey it was free and just something to put in my stomach before rushing to catch a plane. Think again-you have to pay through the nose for this junk. I go to check out and they tell me its seven Euros. I explained the receptionist before had told me it was included and that I hardly ate anything anyway and that was the reason I wasted my time waiting for the breakfast in the first place. No dice, no customer service-sorry monsieur, my colleague was wrong-YOU PAY. The area is not very safe with a lot of drinking and gambling going on all day and night and noisy if you open your window to let the moldy air out from the room. Spare yourself a sleepless night and staff with no clue to service and try somewhere else.
“Hard to find but worth it for the price”
Finding the hotel was difficult as it's located on an out of the way backstreet but once it's found, it's very easy to maneuver around the city thanks to the nearby metro stations. There were cafes and electronics stores all around, which was great for my friend and I who needed charger converters. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet for not much that is well worth indulging in at least once and for a decent amount of euro, 1 - 4 people can get a taxi ride from the hotel to the airport which is about 20 to 30 minutes away. One thing that did irk us was they didn't respect the Do Not Disturb sign. Jet lag and early morning sightseeing made us want to take afternoon naps and even with the sign, they knocked and when we did not answer they opened the door and changed the towels. The sign is pretty much worthless. The only channels you get are BBC World News in english or Arabic but that was actually interesting because we learned a lot about what was going on and when talking with other vacationers at fancier hotels we found that the same went for them too for the most part. The shower is very small but we managed. It was a decent place to stay for the price we paid and I would say for anyone who doesn't want to shell out a lot but still have access to the main sights, and some smaller ones, this is a good hotel to go with.
“Basic but nice, Iffy Neighborhood”
The hotel is clean and the staff were very accommodating. Basic convenience. Shower is bit small, literally you can turn the shower off as you turn by accidentally hitting the switch with your elbow. Shoddy neighborhood. There's a local bar two locations away. can get loud. Convenience store beside hotel is cheap for bottled water. Also a Marche Fanprix steps away. Our equivalent to minimarts. It's located about one-eight of a mile from End-of the line station for metro. Paris Metro Line 4, Port de Clignancort. Line passes through Gare du Nord and St. Michel (Notre dame & St. chapelle)
“Just a Notch Above a Youth Hostel”
First, if you are considering this hotel, it is likely because you are looking for not much more than a place to sleep which offers private rooms with en suite bathrooms. Well, this is exactly what this place is. Don't expect anything more. The bed on which I slept was really two single beds put next to each other, which was fine until they started drifting apart and I sank in the rift thus created in between them. The room in which I slept had no phone and the tiny TV only had two over-the-air channels. The hotel has no Internet access whatsoever. This place is better than staying at a youth hostel, but you can probably find some better place with some looking around.
“Got what I paid for.”
The hotel was easy to reach from the metro, in a neighborhood that felt reasonably safe, if not precisely nice, and had polite, helpful staff. The the bedding may have been hard and the "free internet" offered only on a computer that didn't work, but the staff was more than willing for me to unplug the internet cable and plug it into my computer, and there was someone there at all hours of the night. Overall, I would go back again, but I would be aware that I was going there for the price, not the comfort.
“Hotel Iliade Paris XVIII is a great value for those on a budget...”
Great Value!!! Quiet hotel off the beaten path but very close to the Metro, grocery store, and cafe which my wife and I found to be key. This hotel was an excellent home base for our visit to Paris as it was always warm and comfortable enough considering the low price found on Expedia. The bed as well as the room was just big enough, comfortable and clean. The shower & bathroom was fine by European standards and the cleaning ladies did a great job cleaning our room and keeping us in good supply of everything as well as leaving us alone when all we wanted to do was sleep till noon. The courtesy water boiler appliance was a nice feature to be able to make oatmeal and instant coffee, saving us a lot of money. We could not have asked for more for the money, granite the neighborhood the hotel is located in is not nice at all and in fact it is quite trashy, it didn't matter to us because we were there for the room or we were exploring downtown Paris not the neighborhood our hotel was in.
“Good for the price.”

“Steve Quirke”
Good Hotel, value for money and 50 meters from the metro, but no WIFI!! they have a free Apple computer on the net. However for those with their own PC there is MacDonalds on the corner with free WIFI. The biggest and reputedly the cheapest antique markets in Paris are held just up the road Friday till Monday.
