“Holiday Inn Paris - CDG”

Very nice hotel, conveniently located near the freeway. Rooms are spacious and clean. Bed was the most comfortable we had slept in after being in Europe for 6 weeks. Would gladly return to this hotel and it would be well worth taking the bus or subway into Paris as opposed to staying in the city.

Area recommendations

Hotels near the airport are conveniently located to the airport but require about a half hour drive to the outskirts of Paris due to traffic. Staying downtown is very convenient but the hotels are expensive, older conversions, rooms are EXTREMELY small and most charge for everything, do not provide wifi, except in their lobbies, without a charge. They also have the usual plumbing problems that come with older places.

“Decent hotel at a reasonable cost”

We stayed the evening before returning to the United States. They advertise a shuttle but it is actually a shuttle bus that services a number of hotels, It would have been helpful if we knew in advance to take the Black shuttle.

“Not a 4 star hotel”

I used the mystery hotel booking specifying a *4 star * hotel near CDG airport in France. After booking it, Expedia revealed it was the Holiday Inn. Since this is non-refundable, we had to keep it. Not an exceptional way to end your France vacation! The hotel shuttle service is free, but shared by 6 other hotels, so it took about 20 minutes to wait for the shuttle and another 20 to get to the hotel. It was a typical Holiday Inn - clean, no frills. We needed to get our 2 boys in the room with us, so with the added bed, the room was really tight. I did book a room for 4, so I guess this was the biggest room they had. Oh, and the *40%* discount for using the mystery service - I saved about 3% off the published rate. Overall, a major disappointment.

Area recommendations

Honfluer - quaint harbor town with great access to the WWII beaches. Chamonix - take the cable cars up and hike in terrain you wouldn't normally get to.

Iceland Air had the best prices and quickest flight to Paris - 10 hours from Seattle

“Not impressed travel time from airport to hotel. They use a bus that services many hotels so it slow”

Not impressed because the time to travel from the airport terminal to the hotel is too long. It took me 45 minutes between waiting for the bus to get to the hotel. The bus services several hotels before it gets to the Holiday Inn.
