“Grand Hotel lives up to its name (in a 2-star world)”

This is an excellent 2 star hotel. The room and bathroom were big enough to swing a large cat in and, most unusually, the showerhead was attached to the wall so a north american-type shower could be taken. The staff don't speak English fluently but franglais works just fine -- and they have a helpful attitude. The nearest metro stop is just a block away (Line 7) and shops for almost every need are within 2 blocks. We were very satisfied with our stay.

“Cheap, Clean, and Friendly”

This is a great hotel for budget travelers and college students, but nice enough for a family. Not luxurious, but friendly and very affordable. Desk staff is polite, helpful, and mostly english speaking. Next to the Cadet Metro stop, many bars and restuants.

“Pleasantly Surprised”

We picked this hotel mainly because of the rate and location, which were both very good. We went to Paris as a family of four (kids are 9 and 14) on a short holiday from the UK (although we are Americans living in the UK). After booking I noticed some very poor reviews of this hotel from 2005 and one from July 2007, so I became very worried! But it turned out to be very nice. We had a very large room with 1 dbl bed and 2 single beds. It was decorated very nicely and had a large en suite bathroom. Everything was very clean and the service was wonderful. The location was excellent, and I would definitely recommend the hotel... excellent value for money.

“Enjoyed staying at this gracefully aging Hotel”

My wife and I enjoyed this hotel, located along a quiet little side-street. The hotel itself is past it's glory days, but the staff keeps the place ship-shape and very clean. We chose to have a room with a private bath, and so were located on the sixth floor. (lift only went to five) However, the view from our window was great, and no one was above us! The room was well-fitted, with a comfy mattress and a nicely set-up smaller bathroom. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk before & after our stay, so that we weren't packing around Paris. We definitely recommend this location if you're arriving in Paris via the Eurostar, as it is fairly close to Gare de Nord. It is also located within a reasonable walking distance of many of the main sights in Paris. (recommend the Metro to get to the Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triumphe quickly)

The only complaint I have with this hotel is the front desk could have been more outgoing and/or helpful. Hotel was close to shops, subway and food.

“Beware of SMT Navy Transport”

The day before leaving I asked the hotel desk the best way to get to the airport. They recommended a shuttle service, SMT Navy Transport. I paid the clerk 7.00 Euro. She filled out a ticket (with the SMT logo on it). I was to pay the driver an additional 21.00 Euro. Fair enough. The shuttle was supposed to pick me up at 6:00 AM. I was in the hotel lobby by 5:30 AM. At 6:10 AM the shuttle had not come. I asked the night clerk to call. He did and I was told that the shuttle would be there in 15 minutes and it was not. I began to have a conversation with the clerk, as my concern about missing my plane escalated, that he needed to call me a cab. I told him that the hotel had an obligation because it had an arrangement with the shuttle service. He denied this, and argued that he would only call me a cab if I agreed not to take the shuttle if it got to the hotel first. I told him it did not matter, but he insisted and would not call me a cab until I agreed to take it. He said he would get in trouble if a cab came and I had left on the shuttle. I told him that was his problem. A cab finally came to the hotel at 6:45AM. The shuttle never showed up. My advice to anyone staying at this hotel is not to let them make any local travel arrangements and certainly not any with SMT Navy Transport. My further caution is that no matter where you are staying in Paris do not use this service. My experience is that they are unreliable and unprofessional. Thankfully, I did not miss my plane

“Nice, Quiet Hotel”

The hotel was adequate. It was in a good area near subway stops and great local stores. The area was quiet and didn't have a lot of nightlife but had great cafes and restaurants nearby.

Quelques détails négligés (douche cassée, pas de shampoing fourni), mais néanmoins prestations correctes pour le prix. Chambre sur cour très calme. Proche de très nombreux restaurants.
