“A great little Hotel”
My husband sent my sons and I to Paris for my 50th birthday! I was a little leary booking a hotel over the internet but after reading the reviews decided on the Grand Hotel de Gobelins. The other reviews were very accurate and I was not dissapointed. Keep in mind that hotels in Paris are extremely small and of course much older so it helps to have realistic expectations. The people working at the desk were extremely helpful, informative and very nice and they all spoke English! This is one of the reasons I booked the hotel, since helpful staff and cleanliness were my most important features and I was not dissapointed. The complimentary breakfast was great and with the prices in Paris it was nice to have that added feature. The metro is very close (buy the book of 10..."CARNET" to save money and for convenience) and we were able to get everywhere that we wanted to go! We had 8 nights at the hotel and loved the area. It was somewhat quieter and less touristy than other areas. It felt safe to be walking around late at night. There is a Champion food store just a few doors down and that is a good way to save money on snacks and water. Pizza Casear down the block is very good. Rue Moufftard, a few blocks away is fun...a true Parisian market. The whole Paris experience was simply amazing, words cannot describe it! I would go back in a heartbeat and would without a doubt stay again at the Grand Hotel de Gobelins.
“would definitely go back”
Great hotel, friendly staff and a easy location for sightseeing. I would definitely book with this hotel again.
“Excellent hotel and centrally located in Paris.”
Knowledgeable and helpful staff, all of whom spoke English. Close to Metro station and easy walk to major sites in Paris. Did not feel like a typical tourist hotel in a tourist area, as it was in a typical Parisian neighborhood. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Charming Surprise”
I booked this hotel at the last minute and not having many other choices I wasn't expecting too much . . . but I was very wrong. The hotel was absolutely charming, in a fantastic location on the border of the Latin Quarter. The staff were friendly and helpful and took the time to get to know each guest. My single room was small, but I was expecting that, and despite the size it was well laid out with everything I needed and the charming view over the streets of Paris from my window more than made up for the small size. There are several metro stations within a few minutes walk and the neighbourhood itself is a delight with dozens of bistros, cafes and bakeries. I would definitely stay here again.
“Great value for money”
This is a fantastic little hotel. Very clean and quiet with good cheap restaurants nearby. Reception staff were brilliant and very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with endless supply of coffee and I would certainly go back. I recommend it as a good place to stay if you are looking for value for money and on a tight budget.
“Would definitely consider this hotel for future trips to Paris”
Great location, great staff (especially at reception), great place to stay
“Great Paris Hotel”
Great little hotel in a great location. Very close to Metro and great restaurants. Staff was friendly and all spoke English. I am picky, and this place was clean and pretty quiet, nicer than I expected. Nice breakfast, too. Would definitely stay here again.
“We want to take our children next year”
I arranged the trip for my 20th wedding anniversary and after alot of searching on the internet chose this Hotel. What a brilliant discovery. It's in a great area, very close to the metro and lots of places to eat (French, Chinese, Japanese, Morrocan, Italian, etc) The room had everything you would expect with a great bathroom and good shower. We had a standard room but it had a corner location overlooking the street with 2 juliet balconies (the view was good). The reception staff all spoke good english and were very friendly (they stored our bags after checking out so that we could carry on sight seeing before our train journey home at 4pm) The breakfast was lovely and the staff equally friendly. There was tea, coffee, fruit juice, milk, cereals, meat, cheese, etc (all you would expect from a continental breakfast). It's also really close to the Pantheon which was truly amazing. We would definately recommend this Hotel and want to take our children next year.
“A good value”
Altogether a pleasant experience. The only suggestion I would offer is to vary the continental breakfast a bit. By the 4th or 5th day it lacks appeal
“Ideal Hotel”
We booked this hotel after reading previous reviews and it turned out to be even better than expected.Room bigger than expected, clean, warm and with views of Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame etc. Good breakfast, friendly staff.
