“Walking distance to Eiffel Tower”
The hotel was walking distance to the Eiffel Tower. Clean, compact bathroom as were most of the European hotels we visited. Got in very late on train from Milan. Took taxi; was only about 6 euros. Needed laundry done after a week of traveling. The lady at desk got one of the cleaning women to do the laundry for 20 euros. Oh, only hotel we stayed at that had air conditioning!
“Nearly perfect!”
The location is perfect: a quick walk to the Eiffel tower, public transit, and the Seine. The hotel is on a quiet street and not difficult to find. There are markets, a laundry, and even Starbucks within a short walk as well as numerous decent restaurants of every flavor. The rooms are modern and comfortable if a tad bit small. Heating is at your own control. The only reason we did not rate it 5 stars overall is that the soundproofing is less than adequate. You can hear the shower upstairs, people coming and going in the hall, and occasional noise from outside (fortunately, it is on a quiet street). Luckily we were here in the winter without crowds or boisterous young folk which could get annoying if you are sensitive to noise. It wasn't hard to tune out. This small hotel (only 5 rooms per floor) is a real gem and the staff were very helpful. I would stay here again as well as recommend it to friends and family.
“Newly Updated Hotel - I would go back!”
Very nice hotel. The hotel was recently upgraded and they did a great job. Very modern. Free Wi-Fi, in-room safe, good simple breakfast. The rooms are very small, but this is common for Europe, especially in buildings that must have been built a couple of hundred years ago. The location is about a 3-5 minute walk to the metro, and about a ten minute walk to the eiffel tower. I highly recommend this hotel. Good value!
“What a NIGHTMARE”
NEVER stay at the De La Paix Hotel! I was given a single room with a door literally in reception. I could hear people walking up and down the entry stairs and flushing their toilets all night. When I arrived back at the hotel after my first day out in Paris, there were construction workers outside, and my window was wide open, providing access to my luggage (good thing I had TSA locks). The bathroom door had been removed and left in the middle of the room. Additionally, 2 members of the hotel staff swiped their security card and entered without knocking first. The hotel is adjacent to the Eiffel Tower, but I would NEVER stay there again. I wish I could give it less than 1 star. Find somewhere else...
“Terrible Hotel, awful stay!”
I would never ever stay here agin - even if it was free! I had a nice room, with a good bed and it was newer and clean. The staff at the front desk were exceptionaly rude, unhelpful and not interested in assisting with directions to local spots or helping with any issues. My room had an a/c fan which ran every 5 mins from day one. They refused to service it or change my room. *(They did advise they were aware of this issue though and that I was not the first to complain?!) They did turn off the a/c for the entire hotel after I begged and pleaded on night 1. That was as good as it got. I did not sleep hardly at all for my entire stay as it sound like a transformer was living in my head board. I would strongly suggest anywhere else. The location is great, but there are many other hotels around there. Hotel Europe was a great stay when I was there last year and is also close by. Don't bother staying here if you have any interest in assistance from the front desk, getting any sl3ee3p or a kind/welcomng recption. They simply don't care.
