“Great hotel! great location!”

My friend and I stayed in the Aviatic for three nights in October 2007 and it was perfect for our purposes. The reception staff were polite and friendly and spoke great English (as we speak very little French).Our room was a superior twin and although it was compact had everything we could wish for especially as we were not intending to spend much time in the hotel. It had a subtle Japanese theme and was above the main road but we were never disturbed by the traffic.The room was very clean and obviously tied and towels replaced every day.We were impressed by the added comfort of bathrobes.The hotel itself had a lovely Parisian feel and look to it. There are numerous bars and restaurants within a short walking distance which was great for a late night snack and drink.The Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame are only 15 minutes walk away so it is an excellent base for exploring the city by foot. We would definately go back here and would recommend it to our friends and family.

“Peaceful Montparnasse/St. Germain spot with yummy breakfast”

Boyfriend and I were in Paris for some serious touristing and a little romance too and the Aviatic worked out great. It was a good place to return to when we needed to rest our feet and was nice and quiet at night. We walked everywhere but St-Placide and the Montparnasse-Bienvenue metro stations are close by when you just can't take it anymore. Slight downsides: twin beds pushed together (*not* romantic!) and close quarters for sure in both the bedroom and bathroom but that's Paris.

“Accommodating pleasant staff”

After one night in a first floor room with regular loud noises from the waste plumbing, the staff moved us, without hassle, to another standard room which was fine; we enjoyed the rest of our stay. The buffet breakfast here is excellent.

“Good Boutique Hotel”

Although it is quite a walk to the main attractions, this small hotel was in a good location, close to restaurants in quite central. The hotel staff were polite and helpful. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

“Poor service (and bad response to their mistake)”

To be fair: good location, cozy lobby, some nice staff members. The room we had was just OK (even by European standards). The rooms in the broschure we looked at did not at all resemble the room we stayed in (where one could still hear the subway rumble/elevator run). Our room had holes in the carpet where it had worn through, and very inadequate lighting--we had to take a floor lamp that was dim and place it on a desk to get some more light. YET, THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WAS POOR SERVICE. We ordered a wake-up call the day we were leaving, and the staff never called. (There was no clock in the room either, though that's not the issue anyway.) They admitted their mistake and apologized, saying we could have a "free" breakfast. I was a bit shocked, and noted that breakfast was included already! They then said we would not have to pay for what we took from the mini-bar, but this offer quickly amounted to nothing as well. The manager then came in and gave us the run around even longer. This was the most frustrating part. We did not ask for some sort of compensation at first, but were irritated by their attempts to act like they were offering us something for the trouble they had caused us (and the lost three hours of sightseeing on our last day). By that point we were so offended by the run around that I demanded some sort of compensation. All we got was a bottle of the hotel-label cheap champagne to tote around with us on the day we were checking out.
