“Can't wait to go back”
The hotel was just right for the price. The staff was friendly and helped us with anything we needed. The room was on the smaller side, but the only time spent in the room was to sleep. The metro was a minute walk and we used it to get everywhere. There was a supermarket right around the corner which was perfect to pick up snacks and drinks for the room. I will definately stay here next time I go to Paris.
“Extremely Friendly”
Nice hosting clean and they do speak english. Price is very decent.
“Mediocre at best.”
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to be comfortable. Not only was this hotel very far from any attractions - 2 metro lines - there was a huge construction project throughout the neighborhood going on which nobody made mention of . Jack hammers went off at 6:30 am everyday. And the neighborhood had nothing to recommend itself. No cafes, no sights, not even any charm as the buildings were modern and very unattractive in the area. The hotel itself had the smallest rooms imaginable, no shower curtains (?), no thoughful amenities ( not even a cup of coffee in the morning). A bottle of water was 5 euros! And don't even think about ice or air conditioning. We were very unhappy with all of it.
“Not impressed”
On the website the hotel looks charming and quaint, small and intimate, clean and updated, and a place of comfort. Not being from Paris, we had no idea where it was in relation to the other areas we were visiting, but every cab drive from the hotel and back to another hotel in the heart of the city was around 50Euro. When the cab driver told us we were taking a risk staying there, and then we saw the condition of the place, we immediately secured another hotel.
“If you can't afford Paris don't go.”
This hotel is a major trek from Paris sights and though it is cheap the surrounding neighbourhood is filthy, poor and somewhat scary. If you cannot afford a better hotel, skip Paris. The hotel itself seemed great from the foyer but our room needed a serious health inspection.
“Overall okay”
I stayed at Armstrong for two nights in December, 2009. I was traveling alone for business meetings in Paris. All the hotels were extremely expensive and I found the hotel reasonably priced compared to other hotels and amenities basic and adequate. There are some pros and cons: Pros: Reasonable price. Good location: very close to metro and neighborhood looked safe. There was a grocery in the same building on the next side. So, it was convenient to buy some food. Flat TV on the wall. Free wireless internet was very helpful. The staff was kind. Cons: Walls were thin and corridors narrow, so when next door guests were in and out, the noise was loud, but it was in general bearable. During my stay, TV remote was not working. I thought it was battery: however, when I requested new ones and replaced, it did not work. I did not see the TV, so it should be okay. The problem was that I was not able to turn off the TV, which means I had the TV on while I was sleeping. I have no big complaints overall, considering the price.
“Horrible Experience”
Do not stay at this hotel. It was in a horrible part of Paris and not to mention the "pictures" of the hotel posted online are not at all close to the reality of the hotel. We could not even leave the hotel to experience Paris because it was in a very unsafe neighborhood. We ended up leaving the hotel after 20 minutes.
“Great Hotel if you prefer to walk a lot.”
We could have used more towels, more cups, and a more friendlier day time receptionist. Other than that, it was perfect! I would say it was like a *** star hospital. I was impressed. The breakfast buffet is def. worth the 8 euros, because you can stuff the croissants in your bag for later! Bring an excellent pair of walking shoes.
