“A great place to stay.”
Although the rooms are very small and it must have the world's smallest lift, the Abbatial Saint Germain is an excellent place to stay. It makes a very comfortable and well situated base to explore Paris from. Notre Dame is a short walk away and there are many lovely bars and restaurants close by on the Ile St Louis. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we hope to stay there again.
“Left Bank Gem”
Abbatial Saint Germain was a well positioned, efficiently run hotel that was reasonably priced for its location. A couple of blocks from the Seine and the bridge to Ile d'cite(Notre Dame). A metro stop within a 5 minute walk. Markets and bakeries within a block or two. Desk personnel were helpful, providing maps and transportation information as well as short term use of their computer.Housekeeping staff performed beyond expectations. Neighborhood was quieter than the location would seem to indicate.
“Great hotel”
The Abbatial Saint Germain has a great location and nice rooms, but the hotel's exemplary quality is the outstanding, friendly staff. They were always so helpful and knowledgeable.
“Fantastic area, great hotel”
This was a fantastic hotel for the buck. I read reviews on expedia and it definitely delivered. Hotel was very small and boutique but really quaint...we had a really nice balcony where we drank our cafe in the mornings overlooking the neighborhood. The front desk staff were super friendly, spoke english and can even book reservations and sell you tickets in advance. The basement kitchen was so cute with good food. The neighborhood was excellent with subway just two blocks and on a major street already filled with good bars and restaurants.
“I loved this hotel”
The hotel is centrally located and beautiful. The staff is kind and helpful, and the service is great. The pizza place next door is tasty, and the nearby bakeries are wonderful.
“J'dore”
Perfect hotel and neighborhood. Great location! Our room was so cute and clean and the staff was super nice and helpful. I could not have imagined a better experience. These reviews don't lie. Abbatial Saint Germain made my first trip to Paris a memorable experience!
“paris gem”
This little boutique hotel has great location, an international flavor, friendly and helpful service, and well-appointed rooms. The bathroom was far more spacious than photos indicated and included a soaking tub. We didn't try the breakfast bar but were given friendly and gratis service for morning coffee when the bistro on the corner wasn't open yet. One block off the Seine and 1.5 blocks from a Metro stop, plus an engaging neighborhood close to the Arab institute, a must-see, the Cluny Museum, and Notre Dame -- this is a primo location.
“A Great Hotel 'Find' in the Latin Quarter”
Abbatial St. Germain is a great boutique type hotel. It's quiet, air conditioned, and conveniently located for walking as well as metro access. The staff is wonderful. Although the elevator was out of service for a few of the days we were there, we didn't mind walking up to the 5th floor to our lovely room overlooking the top of Notre Dame. We will certainly return there on future trips to Paris.
“Great location”
This hotel is located a short walk from the Seine and Notre Dame and another short walk from the Rue Saint Severin area where there is a huge choice of restaurants. It's also convenient for the Metro. The room we had was small (two twin beds) with a small bathroom, but very adequate for a relatively inexpensive few days of sightseeing in the center of Paris. A faulty light in the bathroom was fixed for us within 24 hours of us reporting it- it wasn't a simple bulb change operation. The hotel is clean and the reception staff friendly and helpful.
“Comforting, clean, and extremely well located”
Located just a couple of blocks from Notre Dame, in the heart of Paris' cafe district, the Abbatail Saint Germain was a fantastic find. The staff all spoke very good English (and were patiently tolerant of my not very good French), the rooms were clean and not as small as you might believe from some of the other reviews, and it felt very much like a solid "home" from which to explore the city. The double bed took a little getting used to, since its formed out of two single beds (similar to a king inner-spring system), but it really wasn't noticeable after the first night. The mini-bar was nice, too - I stacked the provided beverages to one side and used it as an in-room fridge, replacing them at the end of the trip, for which there was no charge. All this and convenient to the RER (train from CDG) and the metro as well. Highly recommended.
