“I can't believe it's a 3-star”
Location was acceptable, service good and friendly, breakfast good too if a little repetitious. But this hotel should not qualify as a 3-star hotel: the hotel facilities were average (no foreign cable tv, luggage sorage minimal, laundry service outrageously expensive) and the rooms were far too small. Looking at the requirements for a 3-star hotel I see: architecture of the building, size of the rooms, size of the hall, bathroom and so on. This is a cramped little hotel with some charm but little space. The same type of hotel with no star would be a capsule hotel. We saw 2-star hotels in Paris much better located and much more roomy, pity we had already booked and paid. This hotel should really have a star knocked down and reduce its prices as well.
“Nothing exciting”
We booked the hotel because it was relatively cheap and we needed to stay in the area. So that was fine. The pictures online were much, much more alluring than the inside, which was a bit ensobering, smelled strange and was rather battered. No parking, and it was extremely difficult to find a parking spot nearby.
“Not a 3 star hotel”
Overall, we had a nice stay. The hotel staff was very helpful. They arranged for a taxi service to pick us up for our airport run since we had so much luggage and didn't want to do the metro thing again. The twin beds left a lot to be desired. The pillows were very flat. The rug in the room looked VERY worn and the bedsreads had stains on them, along with being very worn. I would not use it. The bathroom was fine. Small of course as was the room. In relation to convenience, it was minutes from a metro station, Porte de Vincennes. Also, the neighborhood was nice, not very touristy. We ate at a local restaurant our first night there. They actually wrapped my husband's pizza to go, which I though was a no no in France. Usually we had no problem finishing all our food. Also there were 3 bakeries very close by to get your breakfast. I would not pay 10 euros for breakfast each morning at the hotel. There was a large market down the road about 5 minutes walking distance, although it was not open on Sunday. We found a little one that sold wine and beer a minute from the metro on the main drag that ws open. And there was another little store right down from the hotel, although it was not open on Sunday either.
“Not bad, but a little out of the way”
The hotel was very nice, but its location on the outskirts of Paris made it a little less appealing. It's within walking distance from a metro station, but you have to cross several major roads and a canal. The restaurant was very nice, if a little more pricey than the hotel cost would suggest. The bed was relatively comfortable, and the bathroom was fine, but the tub was really high. If you're under 5'5", you might have some trouble getting in and out of it. The people at the service desk spoke a little English, but were much more comfortable in French and if you have any specific requests, make sure that someone in your party is able to speak French. All in all, it was a fine hotel, but not particularly outstanding in any major way.
“You can give it a try”
At check-in the staff was friendly, but they charge 10euro for breakfast which is outrageous, in my opinion. The elevator only fits 2 people if they don't have any luggage, otherwise it fits one person. Regarding the room, the carpet and the duvet cover were dirty. The mattress was firm and there was parts of the furniture missing paint and such. But the bathroom was renovated with a bath tub, which comes very handy after one long day of walking. The TV was small and mostly French channel which I don't mind since I speak the language. I'd give the hotel 2 and half stars 'cause it doesn't deserve 3 stars at all. They need more cleaning and I noticed they don't even bother to vacuum the carpet so bring a pair of indoor slippers. I think it's a convenient place since it's on the line where all the important attractions are. Plus there's a small supermarket and a couple of restaurants around.
“Not bad for an inexpensive home base”
Though it's not exactly a fancy hotel (rooms are small and rather worn), it served our purposes -- an inexpensive home base in Paris. The bathrooms were recently remodeled, which was nice, since all we really used the room for was sleeping and showering. Staff was very nice and polite.
“Decent stay, could have slept better.”
Hotel was updated, has a lift, continental breakfast buffet is decent (compared to other European hotels, sadly yes) and good free internet. The room was quiet and functional, there was even a small fridge. The beds were really uncomfortable though, and the room on the small side. Location is very close to restaurants, grocery stores, night shops, pharmacies, and most importantly the metro.
“Pretty Good”
Nothing fancy, but pretty good. A bit out of the heart of the heavy tourist area which was fine given the five minute walk to the metro station. If you're looking for a safe, clean, and reasonable place to stay this is a good option. We didn't get breakfast as there are so many places to eat in the neighborhood. Walk out the front door and take a right, walk about a block and on the left side of the street there's a tavern full of locals who are very nice -we had trouble buying drinks for ourselves. Also, if you are looking for outstanding three star food at a reasonable price, we recomend Senderens, google it, get the plate de jour, you'll spend a little money but it will be the best food you ever had. We also recomend Rober et Loui, in the Marie, excellent country french cooking on an open hearth fire, the duck confit was out of this world.
“smallish”
Room was tiny and smelled like smoke... but I've heard Paris hotel rooms are usually tiny. The bathroom and lobby were nice.
“Good service, cozy”
Probably not the fanciest 3-star hotel ever, but the service was great (we were even served tea on returning in the middle of the night, by a friendly desk clerk who wanted to practice his English), the rooms were small but clean, equipped with minibars (no hard liquor though), hair dryers, and safes. A bit off the beaten path, but very close to a Metro stop, and a fairly quiet neighborhood. Great price for a Paris hotel as well. Fairly standard breakfast, tasty enough. No problems when we had to switch rooms after one night, to accomodate another person joining our party.
