“Home away from home”
Mediterranean Dream is the classic bed-and-breakfast experience, this time in Panama City, Panama. Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, the converted home is just a few walking steps away from the many restaurants and shops of the El Dorado district. Hosts Alejandro and his wife Irena are very friendly and helpful and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable, including preparing nice breakfasts for us when we arose. It's a great home base for your adventures in Panama and Alejandro, who speaks English, can help you with arrangements and recommendations. The rooms are clean and comfortable and each one features a fruit-related theme, a nice touch that helps add to the character of the place.
“Great value”
This B&B is decorated very prettily It is in a neighborhood area, so it is quieter. It has a nice patio for eating, and a yard area for kids to romp. The Watermelon room has its own fenced patio-great for families. The bed in my room-the apple room- was very comfortable due to the foam mattress. It has decent free wireless internet access. The owner speaks English, and was very helpful in getting taxis for me-to/from the airport, plus around town. There is a shopping mall a few blocks away. The breakfast was good. I bought dinner there one night, and it was delicious. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.
“Highly recommended”
We were extremely pleased with our stay at Mediterranean Dreams in Panama City. The greatest asset of Mediterranean Dreams is definitely Alejandro, the owner. He went above and beyond to make our stay in Panama City a wonderful experience, from arranging short side trips (that we had been under the impression that were not possibilities) with very little notice to giving us the "low-down" on tourist sites, and realistic costs of taxis. Alejandro made us feel right at home in his hotel, always offering us his opinions on sights not to be missed, and helping us to find alternate accommodations when he was unable to provide us with a room due to changes in our plans. As far as the actual rooms, we stayed in two different rooms during our stay at Mediterranean Dreams, they were well kept, comfortable rooms. Located in a quiet neighbourhood, it was about a 5 - 10 minutes by cab from anywhere in Panama City, and it was close to buses, shopping, and plenty of restaurants. If we return to Panama City, we will not hesitate to book with Alejandro at Mediterranean Dreams. As my fiance says...Alejandro (and Mediterranean Dreams) was the difference between a good trip and a great trip. Muchisimas Gracias!
“very enjoyable”
Alejandro was a great host, very helpful and was able to point us in the right direction for the trips we took while staying there and eventually returning to the international airport.
“"Can't wait to go back",”
It is a beautiful hotel
“Great place to stay for the price”
The new hotel owners, Rafael, Alejandro and Irene, were extremely helpful, informed and pleasant. Alejandro in particular sent us off on a number of fun day trips to explore Panama City. He and Rafael speak excellent English. The watermelon room was adequate and there is a nice courtyard right outside for breakfast and hanging out. Don't miss the high sitting area at the rear of the garden which has a nice view of downtown. The hotel location was close to everything but out of the downtown core. Taxi rides anywhere in the main section of the city were $5 to $10. The best part of our experience with Mediterranean Dreams was how friendly and helpful the hotel owners were.
“Good location, Great staff!”
I had a hard time finding it because there is no name on the outside (it is #37) but once there, the staff, Alejandro and his wife, did everything possible to make your stay comfortable. The location is close to shopping and restaurants and taxis are just a block away. I would describe the hotel as quaint and family run, things are kept spotless. There is an area behind the hotel with a view where you can sit and read, although there are no chairs or chaises to use, only a single hammock. Overall, I think this is a great place to stay in because of the staff and the proximity to everything. I felt secure walking there at night as well.
“At home in Panama at Mediterrean Dream.”
The owners were very helpful about how to get around in Panama, what to look out for and how to eat cheap at restaurants where the food was good but still cheap. Met all of our needs. I stayed there with my daughter and grandson. The owners are billingual (spanish and English so there were no communications problems. They were really our family in Panama. Could count on them for whatever. Many stores and restaurants in walking distance of which a 24 hour supermarket where you can buy what you want. (Prepared food, medicine etc.)
“Not a good choice”
This is the first negative review I have ever written. We travel a lot and are used to many different levels of lodging. There are however, some things that are important. We did not have hot water in the bathroom sink, this was known and accepted by the proprietors. I believe this was cost cutting. The shower had an instant water heater that was only capable of dribbling water. The room was dirty and in disrepair. The A/C had all of the grills broken out. In the morning I watched a large centipede make the rounds of the room. The very close neighbors have a barky dog. All in all, an unpleasant stay. We left early in the morning. This place is in a residential/commercial neighborhood. Very difficult to find. Several hours were wasted locating this dissapointing property. It was then too late to go somewhere else. The sign out front is for a different company. There are places to walk to but they are not very good. The management was plesant and courteous, but cannot make up for the serious problems at this site. This place is like the relative's house that you dread to visit because of the condition of the house. Not worth paying to stay at this level of lodging.
