Opened in 1964, and once a hangout for celebrities like Nancy Sinatra, Elvis, and the Rat Pack, Caliente Tropics Resort combines retro-cool with an updated look and feel. This Polynesian-style motor hotel is two miles from downtown Palm Springs and three miles from Palm Springs International Airport.
This Palm Springs hotel features an outdoor pool with cabanas, a 12-person spa tub, and lawn chairs. A spacious poolside lawn area is ideal for barbecuing, Frisbee-playing, sunning, and shuffleboard. The Tropics Retreat, the hotel's day spa, offers a variety of soothing services, including massage, facials, and body wraps.
Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the property.

Caliente Tropics Resort offer 90 air-conditioned guestrooms in a two-story building with exterior corridors and no elevators.
Decor is Polynesian-modern, with ceiling fans and custom furnishings. Amenities include compact refrigerators, coffee/tea makers, and complimentary wireless Internet access. Complimentary copies of USA Today are delivered weekdays.
All rooms are nonsmoking.
Recreation
The hotel offers a large outdoor pool with cabanas and 12-person spa tub. Shuffleboard courts are located near the pool.
The San Jacinto Mountains provide a scenic backdrop for many of the area golf courses. The Palm Springs metropolitan area hosts famous tournaments, including the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational (Indian Wells Country Club), the Kraft Nabisco Championship (Mission Hills Country Club), and the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (the Classic Club). The Escena Golf Club, six miles from the Caliente Tropics Resort, features Jack Nicklaus–designed courses. Less than seven miles from the hotel, the award-winning Cimarrón Golf Resort offers two courses with spectacular views. The Classic Club, with courses designed by Arnold Palmer, is 15 miles away.

“Surprisingly nice!”
We got our room here unbelievably cheap. We were skeptical but all the reviews were really good so we went ahead and booked it. We only planned on spending one night there on our road trip so we figured, "What the heck?" Anyway, we were really happy with the room! It was clean, the beds were really comfy, and it was just really nice overall. I highly recommend this place! I think the only reason the room ends up going for so little is the long, kind of confusing drive, past several other hotel options before you arrive at this one!
“Good Hotel in Palm Springs”
We were very impressed with the accomodations. There was a living room with a comfortable couch and chair. Big, fluffy pool towels were available at the desk. The room was clean, the pool was clean. The hotel is decorated in a Polynesian motif. We enjoyed our stay and will probably stay there again, if the opportunity arises. Located near the old town and not far away from shopping centers, etc.
“We can't wait to go back”
At first, I was a little worried, because some of the reviews were not so complimentary, but when we arrived we were very happy to see that those reviews were wrong. We just loved this place and cannot wait to go back. The room was very comfortable especially the bed, and the people were wonderful too, also Hawaiian Bills has great food. We are looking so forward to going back.

Nice spot; clean rooms, recently updated by the look of things. Excellent pricing for this time of year. Convenient to downtown and airport. Third stay at this accommodation.

trés bon rapport qualité-prix, motel impeccable,propre, confortable, silencieux, remis à neuf, prestations très correctes, 2 minutes en voiture du centre ville ( restaurants, bars, boutiques...)
“updated vintage comfort”
Staying at the Caliente Tropics was lots of fun. Despite the cold snap and some rain and windstorm, my Mother and I swam everyday in the warm pool and enjoyed the jacuzzi. It was a wonderful respite from the much colder Oregon weather. The beds were especially comfortable. The restaurant on site had an alfresco dining, smoking and drinking area that was uncomfortably close to the pool but we got used to it and were able to focus on the statues and flowers and palm trees instead!
“Will Return Soon”
I have stayed at the Calientie Tropics about 5 times this year . It has great rooms and really nice marble showers . The pool area is excellent and I was on several times the only one in the spa . I will return soon . Nice qiuet place and has a restuarant next door .
“Going back next year”
The hotel is very well maintained. Everyone on staff was extremely nice. Had a chance to stay at a different hotel next year, but will not even think about it. This is THE hotel to stay at.

We really enjoyed the service and decor of this hotel. The room was very spacious and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in! We are planning on making this our destination getaway hotel whenever we head to Palm Springs. They opened a new Hawaiian restaurant while we were there and they had an amazing hawaiian show complete with male and female hula dancers! You have to pay big bucks to see something like that in Hawaii, and the front desk said they will have show performers once a month so call ahead. We have told all our friends to check out this great find in the desert!
