The hotel is old but expensive. It has a good location, but unless you get a good rat be ready to accept a hotel that might have been great many years ago.

Our room was massive and had space for all of our luggage. The bathroom is lovely with a big bath. Very luxurious and comfortable for our last night in Italy. Parking out the front. Lovely, helpful staff. Worth every penny.

Old Glamour hotel needs an overhaul.
It was so so. The reception staff was great and the breakfast very good. Dinner also was good and staff nice. The condition of the hotel is run down, carpets are filthy, wallpaper peeling and tacked on with thumb tacks in places! You can see that it was at one time a beautiful hotel, it has the old world glamour. But it desperately needs to be painted, new carpets and general clean up would do this property a great service. Lots of street noise at night and a good half hour walk to the old town for tourist attractions.

Solid Value Hotel
A good value hotel in Palermo. A bit of a walk (15-20 minutes) to the historic centre, but a good location overall. Hotel is a bit tired in spots, but still retains much of the elegance of its earlier days. Staff were, without exception, helpful and friendly.

Great service location and rooms
Excellent service - great location in high class area away from bustle of the city. Taxi rank right outside. Rooms large and comfortable. The staff super helpful and friendly - a pleasure to stay.

Grand hotel rooms big

Great hotel and staff!
From the moment we arrived, the staff did everything to make us welcome. Marco at the reception counter went above and beyond to help find the perfect restaurants for us. Check in was easy. Breakfast was included in our reservation and the selection was excellent. Hotel is walking distance from everything we wanted to see. Great Hotel. The only complaint was the ac did not work too well in our room.

Very Disappointing
We stayed here for one night for our wedding anniversary and were very disappointed. The least you expect from an hotel is cleanliness and our room was far from clean. On entering the room we were overwhelmed by the heat so set about opening the window. However, there was only a skylight, no windows even though we had booked a courtyard view room. We then attempted to adjust the air con but unfortunately, it was not working properly. Looking around the room we found the carpet to be black with dust around the edges and to have a number of stains. The furniture had seen better days and the stool had a broken leg. With this we went to reception and asked for a room with the courtyard view that we booked. We were given a key to another room that was a little better but not much. However, it was not with courtyard view but was right over the main road. Again, the room was very warm and the air con didn't work but at least we could let some cool air into the room. The second room was smaller than the first so we were not impressed with the reception staff. Also, the main staircase was not hovered whilst we were there and looked like it had not been hoovered in weeks.

An ok base just don't spend any real time there
The room was clean and comfortable but that's the end of the accolades. No ironing board in room Mini bar not cold Gym just in an open room with no AC in 30C+ heat. These 3 things are basic in my view and should preclude this being a 4*. The place was 'fine' but I wouldn't return.

Very nice hotel!
Hotel was very nice and clean. Air conditioning was cold. Bathrooms very clean. Parking is a little tight as far as finding the right spot, but all went well. Staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic, food was excellent and again staff was very friendly. Would stay here again anytime.

Don't stay here...
Reserved 2 rooms-turned out to be different prices. One came with breakfast, and the more expensive room didn't. Don't know why?? When brought to the attention of front desk woman, she got angry and started yelling at me for asking such a question, and said that all reservations are not equal. Needless to say, we stopped eating breakfast there, even though one would have been free.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel!!!!
This hotel is in desperate need of safety precautions and renovation! The room (113) I stayed in, apparently was broken into as the side panel of the doorway where it locks was filed down . When brought to the attention of front desk, the woman started yelling at me, saying it was safe. Good thing I had family to stay with the next 2 nights.

Excellent hotel, but a bit noisy
The staff at this hotel were almost as good as they could get. The room was very comfortable, with good adjustable air conditioning. The breakfast was to die for - they couldn't have been anything they had left out. It wasn't cheap ... but it was well worth the price. The foyer was welcoming, with beautiful flower arrangements. There was a gym with exercise equipment (though we didn't use it!). Good restaurant, but rather expensive. Food choice could be wider. There were only three things I would criticise: 1. Our room was on the main road, and there was no double glazing. There were double doors to the balcony, but they didn't fit tightly, and at 5am every morning the birds in the tree outside started, and at 6am the noisy buses stopped at the bus stop opposite. 2. Milk was not provided with the kettle, tea etc, so we had to go down to the bar every couple of days to get a jug of milk. 3. Accessories were not always replaced regularly in the bathroom. One day we ran out of toilet paper and had to call the housekeeper.

We had to ask 2 times for the room to be changed. We booked a premium room but the first one we were given was with no windows (skylight only), the second one was very dark looking to internal walls. some of the staff were very unfriendly.

Nice hotel in a nice neighbourhood
Nice hotel in a fairly up market neighbourhood - nice room and a good buffet breakfast. The airport bus stops right outside so useful if you are flying in and out of Palermo. It's a good 15 min walk to get into the old town but it's a fairly pleasant walk and plenty of buses if you're not into walking. The bar area is lacking in atmosphere - it's more like a restaurant - we ended up taking the drinks back to our room.

Lovely old building that is not maintained
This is not to the standard of a 4 star hotel nor a Mecure. The bathroom has significant black mould, the shaving mirror never turns off, the bathroom door doesn't shut, the toilet drips, the shutters cant open as they are twisted, walls very marked including wallpaper torn, only dribbles of water from the shower as the hoes had build up Overall the rooms are very shabby The breakfast was not to standard with items not replenished, a vast vat of scrambled eggs has been out for so long they had gone watery Staff we not overly friendly and the housekeeper downright rude- she started making loud noise inthe corridor early and was quie rude abut when we were going to let her clean the room

We stayed 4 nights in total and the hotel is clean, in a good location, and has an excellent breakfast buffet. Most exceptional, however, was a young lady on the front desk named Claudia. She went above and beyond several times to help us print documents, find places and directions to them. Always she was friendly and remembered us, and her English is very good. Thanks to her, our stay was most enjoyable.

Disappointing hotel, use an alternative.
This is NOT a 4 star hotel. Rooms had NO WINDOWS, even though we were on the 3rd floor, only skylights our friends had the same conditions. The hotel corridors smelt of mould and mildew. The restaurant served the poorest meal we had in a 3 week tour of Sicily. Staff in the restaurant were numerous in number but surly in service. Very disappointing experience.

One of the best in Palermo.

Excellent location and service
I chose this hotel because of the reviews that said how close it was to the Prestia airport bus line and I'm so glad that I did. The hotel is literally a block away from the stop. I stayed a total of two nights at the beginning and end of my trip. The first night I had a very small single that felt like it matched the low rate I got on Expedia, but it was fine for the one night. The hotel was also really full with tour groups so this may have been the reason. The breakfast buffet was very nice and sufficient for starting the day. I then decided to stay at the hotel at the end of my trip and cancelled a hotel that I had closer to the airport. I'm also really glad that I did this because Alejandro at the front desk was very kind and let me check in early (he could see I was tired from traveling :) and gave me a much nicer room than I had the first night. I would definitely stay at this hotel again because it is in a quieter part of town yet still walking distance to the main street and the theatre.

we started out in a comfortable room; bedroom, sitting room and two bathrooms. Room was flooded and we were moved to a much smaller room with single bath and no sitting room - couldn't even open our suitcases. Was not happy with the new room and no compensation for the reduced accommodations - we were even told it was an upgrade!

A nice,clean hotel in a good location. Comfortable rooms and good breakfast buffet. The desk clerk helped with a map and restaurant suggestions. Hint: don't take the taxi from the airport; it's 50-60 euros. Take the bus for 6 euros and get off at Piazza Cruce on Via da Liberta. The hotel is a block away from the airport bus stop. You can also catch the bus going back. They run every half hour.

We spent a week at the end of April and enjoyed very much everything in Palermo including the Excelsior Palace Hotel. Hotel is an excellent example of the architecture at the end of 19th century with beautiful halls, huge breakfast room(s) with beautiful Venetian glass chandeliers. It gives the impression of a real palace. Food at the restaurant and also buffet breakfast were superb. Hotel is located on one of the most beautiful avenues, could get a bit noisy on Friday and Saturday

The hotel was very easy to reach by the airport bus (just two min walk from the stop). Excellent breakfast and clean room and bath room. Sights are within walking distance, a great disturbance CinCin restorante is just 3 min walk from the hotel. I would highly recommend ethis hotel.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Excelsior. Location and comfort were great. Staff was helpful, but I was a little disappointed that the Hotel would not help me print my boarding pass for my flight and that they charged 9 euros prepay for WiFi.

Palermo Hilton Hotel
A very nice hotel. A 2 minute walk to/from the bus to airport bus and a 10 minute walk to the heart of the high end shopping district. A safe location. Breakfast is not included in room rate.

Great hotel close to great shopping!
Our stay was great! It was Made so by the wonderful staff at the front desk, especially Phillip. He was amazingly helpful with directions, and we greatly appreciated his extra help with getting purchases packed and home safely. The food was wonderful!! Breakfast and dinner!!

Nice location and old building but be aware that Palermo noise problem is "solved" by eliminating windows for street side rooms ( skylights open instead). Rooms are large, baths very large, our carpet very stained. In sum ok unless absence of windows a deal breaker.

I've spent 5 days at Excelsior Hilton Palermo, and would strongly recommend it. Location is excellent, in a beautiful mail avenue with several fine restaurants and great boutiques, airport shuttle bus stops in front of the hotel, and old town with main attractions is within walking distance - some 10-15 min. Also local bus to great beach Mondello stops in front of the hotel. Staff is very pleasant and rich breakfast. Only flaw: WIFI in room is charged (free only in the lobby)
