“An authentic and eclectic hotel and great home base for a Maui vacation”
Small but very well appointed rooms, an excellent staff, and fun location made this exactly the experience we were looking for. If you are looking to sleep in every day this may not be the place for you as many of the rooms are next to the main street through Paia. Also, if you plan to spend a bulk of your time in Maui out in Lahaina then I'd suggest you consider a hotel out that way as it's at least a 40 minute drive each way. However, for a trip to Hana, a drive (or bike ride) up Haleakala, watching surfers at Ho'okipa, and taking in the charm of Paia and upcountry Maui, this is the best thing going. We WILL be back to stay again.
“A+++ Just perfect!”
This was EXACTLY what my wife and I wanted. We arent ones for big resorts, where folks wait on you hand and foot, and you spend most of your time on campus. Instead, we like to venture out and explore. And of course, Maui is the perfect place to do this, and Paia Inn was a perfect home base and launchpad. Paia is gateway to the amazing Road to Hana (free advice: rent a CONVERTIBLE! And have the deli next door pack you a nice picnic lunch). Its at the base of Mount Haleakala (and only crazy people visit Maui without driving up the 10,000 foot volcano). Its a short hop to stunning Iao Valley, and not too far from the aquarium, snorkel trip marina, and Kihei resort area. However, its a bit of a haul over to the Lahaina resort area (gorgeous drive, though). As for Paia Inn itself, we LOVED it. Very hip atmosphere, artwork, and decor. Squeaky clean. Ultra-comfy bed. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice quiet beach out back; but be aware its on the windward side of the isle, okay for swimming but not a placid lagoon-like, snorkel-friendly beach like those on the other side. Rooms are small, but we had the suite and were completely comfortable for 9 days straight. Parking was can-of-sardines tight, but the staff takes care of that for you. Understand that this is a VERY small hotel, in the center of a very cool little town, with swell shops, wide variety of restaurants, fabulous food. If a giant seaside resort is what you want, this aint it. Otherwise 5-star, no lie.
“NICE!”
Small Hotel...super cool on the beach and in a small very cute town. Super service.... Not your large hotel chain....
“Surprisingly impressed!”
Paia Inn is conveniently located in the edgy town of Paia, our first stay on the East side of Maui. Our two bedroom suite was very comfortable, clean, air-conditioned, nicely furnished, and had a large kitchenette. A few days in Paia made it easier to drive to the special places we wanted to revisit on that side of the Island.
“Avoid the tourist traps. Stay local. Stay Paia Inn.”
Paia Inn is an awesome place to stay. The staff and service was second to none. They are very friendly, and it's obvious they genuinely care about your stay. The layout and decor of the Inn is very unique, too. It really fits the vibe of the town. My wife and I traveled the entire island of Maui, and when all was said and done, the best place to be, by far, was Paia. Stay away from the tourist areas and experience Maui from Paia Inn.
“Comfy and cool”
Great location! Not in the middle of huge resorts but cool and quirky town has everything you need and it is easy to get anywhere on the island from paia. If you want a private getaway and great local restaurants then this hotel will be a perfect fit.
“Oasis in Paradise...”
We have stayed at the Paia Inn several times over the past few years (just returned) and have been very pleased with the friendly, caring, bright, upbeat folks who run it! The place is beautifully kept and the surroundings, pristine! We plan to return again shortly...and always look forward to our little oasis in paradise. The private beach is just a few steps away...beach chairs, towels, snorkeling equipment, coffee/tea/juice are all provided...and, if so desired, a delicious reasonably priced breakfast will await you in the morning. The quaint little town has a wide variety of restaurants offering delicious cuisine as well as several interesting little shops. If you enjoy "shaking a leg" as we do, Charley's, is the place for you with its nightly music and its mouth-watering cheeseburger is a must! We'll be back...
