An okay stay
Overall the property is clean and fairly cute. It is old and has not been updated so floors are slanty, windows are weathered with peeling paint and layout is SO ODD with the bathroom door right next to the stove in the kitchen. And it’s tiny. I actually nicknamed it “The Mouse House.” But the price was reasonable for the area. We did love that there were 2 full bathrooms though. I felt we needed more towels (6 bath towels for 4 people for 4 days) as we don’t want to spend time doing laundry. Upstairs remote batteries were dead, and the grill had no propane. We had a planned pre-race dinner with 7 people and that was a real irritant as I even mentioned it days before we arrived. Never got a reply back from property manager about it. There wasn’t a single platter for serving a meal. Not enough kitchen utensils (big spoons, forks, a cheese grater, serving bowls). These are the basics. Overall, a reasonably priced place in a great location but lacking in the details.

Like most Victorians from this period, Sweet Pea likely did not have an inside bathroom when it was built (they were added on later, which explains the odd location off the kitchen). We received your email requesting additional towels and responded that more were stored in the upper bathroom. Unfortunately, all your requests were sent via email. We specifically ask our guests to use our 24-hour line to avoid any communication delays, as we can usually respond within 30 minutes. We would have been happy to deliver batteries or a propane tank. We appreciate your feedback on missing kitchen items, which we will address asap, and we’ve alerted the owner that it’s time for a paint job!

Clean, quaint, convenient, and comfortable
We drove to Sweet Pea, parked right in front of the house, and walked everywhere (including the Aquarium). The accommodations were spotless, we had everything we needed to prepare meals, and we slept soundly. During some windy periods the screens rattled a wee bit, but those were the only interruptions to our serenity. We would definitely return.

Girl’s Cali Trip
This bungalow was perfect for the 4 of us gals! The location was wonderful. We had so much fun in Pacific Grove and the surrounding area. It was a delight to come back “home” each evening!

the house needs a lot of work, the front door has a gap between the door and the door jamb, the door bangs when its windy and cold air blows in. The heater didn't start twice and the fireplace frequently sidn't start. the heater is at the bottom of the stairs so the heat goes upstairs. The kitchen table is sticky and wiping it doesn'ytfix the problem. The dishwasher door is so tight I couldn'tt close it. the windows have cracked paint and the window sills outside are filthy. In short it was not what I expected for what I paid

Thank you so much for this valuable feedback. We can imagine that you did not have the best experience, given that you were here during rainstorms with high winds and power outages. We sent our repairman to address the furnace and fireplace as soon as you called, and we are working on the other items you brought to our attention.

Nice house, very clean. However, parking was horrible! No driveway for this property. One way street and street parking very limited. Carrying luggage, groceries a couple of blocks due to parking limitations. This should be clearly stated in property description.

We're so sorry you had trouble parking. Being this close to the ocean is a double-edged sword in summertime when so many people flock to the beach to enjoy our beautiful coast.

Cozy and convenient layout. Close to the center and very quiet street. Suggest to put a sign to guarantee guest parking space. Downstairs shower Sewer blockages, had to clean into deep to get hairs out and let water flow. We enjoyed our stay, feel like home. Thank you.

Perfect Get Away Home
Property was in a great location, nice little porch in front along with patio in back. Easy check in and out, parking can be tricky but usually can find one around the block and walk over. Would stay here again when we come back!

My husband , brother-in-law and sister-in-law stayed here for 3 nights as an after tax season getaway. Location is great and enjoyed the quaintness of this historic home. My dislike was the street parking We are from Arizona and this isn’t something we have an issue with. When I read street parking I “assumed” it would be assigned to each house. My bad live and learn.

Unfortunately many homes in Pacific Grove do not have off-street parking. The trade-off is the location - you're a short stroll from the beach and downtown. Many guests report that once they park they rarely if ever use their car.

Historic Property in quiet seaside neighborhood
This small historic home is darling. Very short walk to Lover’s Point. Rent bikes there and explore the paved ocean side walkway/bikeway that goes to Aquarium and Cannery Row. Enjoy coffee on the front porch and eat dinner off the grill on tucked away table for 4. Michelle, property manager, was very responsive. We had a great time.

Quaint and Clean, amazing location!
Sweet pea is located just blocks from the ocean and great places to eat in Pacific Grove. We really enjoyed walking along the nearby pathway that follows the coastline. It was so beautiful and my son loved riding his scooter there. The house is an adorable historic Victorian, very clean and quaint. It is nicely furnished and comfortable for a small family. The towels are soft and beds are comfortable for a good night's sleep. The fireplace in the living room puts off a lot of heat and wall heater takes care of the bedrooms. Each bathroom has it's own heater too. The neighborhood is very quiet. Michelle was easy to reach for any questions ahead of time and during our stay.

Wonderful property that presents as advertised. Great location, very cozy and comfortable inside. Only downside is parking can be hard to find. Other than that, it's fantastic. We will be back!

Very nice small old house two blocks from the ocean. The kitchen and eating area (in the kitchen) are quaint and pleasant. The house is old and slopes down hill (front to back) but that’s to be expected in a house built in 1883. The bathrooms are nice (one on each floor). We also were able to BBQ outside using the nice propane grilll.

The sweetest of get aways!
Everything was just as we had hoped for from reading about “Sweet Pea” and her location and amenities. It truly was the coziest of cottages and a beautiful, short, walk down the street to the ocean and the beautiful sights. Would love to rent her again in the future! Didn’t want to leave.!! Loved the neighbor next door and her dog, Mr.. Rory Bradley.😊 Such great ambassadors to the area and “Sweet Pea”!

We felt very safe and comfortable in this house. So much history...built in 1883 but updated to today's standards. Close to the beautiful walking trail at Lovers Point just down the street. Would like to have seen aluminum foil and saran wrap as we did cook a couple of dinners. Would stay again!

Sweet Pea is an old house that has been nicely updated. The downstairs bath is off the kitchen at the back of the house, old school but just fine. Kitchen provided all we needed. Stairway up is steep and tight, but the bedroom, bath and study(?) are fine for kids or a limber couple who sleep in twin beds. Wonderful location in historic neighborhood, but parking can be a problem. (We walked everywhere.) Watch for Rory, the next door dog. He is a sweetie who loves to play ball.

A very cute old house in a fantastic location. Easy walking distance to a variety of restaurants and shopping opportunities. There are areas in the house that are not level causing one to have vertigo. One neighbor who makes you feel you are not welcome. Beautiful location to visit.

If you’re looking for a location close to the loveliest places in the Monterey area then the Sweet Pea in Pacific Grove is the spot! Nestled in a neighborhood full of historic charm, Sweet Pea is a two level Victorian treat built in the late 1800s that sleeps 4 very comfortably and possesses all the modern convinces one would need. Don’t miss the opportunity to book this place if you can do it. We found the booking, check in, and check out process very easy and hassle free. The management company is very responsive and available when and if you need them. This is a must see location within a 3 minute walk to the famous Lover’s Point. P.S. Rory is the cutest four-legged neigbor one could hope for. Make sure you introduce yourself and give him a pet or two.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sweet Pea! It is very close to everything that we wanted to visit. A big plus was an adorable little dog that lived nextdoor called Rory! What a sweetheart! Highly recommend this place and a plus if you’re a dog lover!

Wonderful Stay
This is a wonderful house. It's so charming and quaint. I love this house. The neighbors are very nice and it's a quiet neighborhood. It is in walking distance to the ocean and it is beautiful! Walk in the opposite direction and you can shop and eat in great restaurants. The house has televisions in the bedrooms. The beds are really comfortable and good quality. I would definitely stay there again.

My husband and grandson and I spent the weekend. The house set up was perfect with an upstairs for the grandson (4) so he could go to sleep early, and a downstairs bedroom and bath so we didn't have to walk around on tiptoes. The beach and park are a few short blocks away and the Aquarium is definitely walking distance (not with a 4 year old), so you really don't have to drive much. The house is well-appointed and clean. The kitchen is small but has everything you need to cook in. The grill works! The only issue is that there is no private parking space. If you are lucky enough to snag the spot in front of the house, just plan to walk everywhere else!! (Actually, we were able to find other parking just a block away!)

They need to replace beds or I would add a 3in topper... very uncomfortable! Was very hard. But everything else was great! Loved the house and its location was great. Oh, night light in bathroom upstairs is not working. That was fun trying to get to the bathroom during the night..Lol

The owner just replaced all the beds with Serta perfect sleepers. We wish you had called our 24 hour line while you were here so we could have delivered a foam topper to make you more comfortable. We'll look into the night light issue, too.

Sweet Stay at Sweet Pea!
Sweet Pea was just perfect for two couples! The property was spotless and well maintained. We loved the location, a quiet residential area with friendly neighbors, about two blocks from the Pacific and two blocks to downtown. We walked everywhere. Although there was not off street parking, we were always able to find overnight parking on 16th or a street nearby. We loved the large front porch that easily accommodated four of us and enjoyed the gas fireplace in the living room. Special thanks to Shane, who helped us with the entry code; to Alma, who did such a great job preparing the house for us, and to Michelle and Kyle who checked in mid stay to make sure all was okay. If Pacific Grove is in our future, we will definitely stay in Sweet Pea again!

A short walk to the ocean.
This property was perfect for car week in Monterey. There were several car shows walking distance away. Parking was a bit challenging and the sea gulls were very noisy starting at 5am, but otherwise it was terrific.

Cozy cottage by the sea needs some tlc
First the good stuff: lovely location, nice artwork inside. We really liked the rocking chairs on the front porch. Needs some help: upstairs heats up and none of the windows in the house have screens and the bathroom fan doesn’t work (I read a review that also mentioned this but figured they would fix by the time I arrived months later.) I grew up in PG so I am familiar with the bats, birds, and other critters than an open window invites. It sure would be nice if this quirky little charmer had better lighting inside that wasn’t a harsh bright cool light. updating the bedding would be a huge help. It felt worn and didn’t even match. Some easy fixes on the management’s part and your stay will be lovely.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. We've installed screens on nearly all the windows, the fan is operational, the beds are brand new, and all the bedding has been updated (pillows, sheets, duvets, etc.).

Nicest cottage in Pacific Grove!
This is a gem of a property — cozy but spacious, in a great location near the iconic Lovers Point, and also close to restaurants and amenities. Super quiet and private. We’ll definitely want to come back!

We had a great week in PG. Sweet Pea was exactly as described. It’s in a great location. It’s an easy walk to many restaurants and the aquarium. The house is comfortable and well equipped. All of the neighbors were friendly, we especially loved the neighbor dog, Rory. We’ll be back.

The house is just as described. There was plenty of space for my husband, 19yo daughter, and me. Yes, you might have to park a block away sometimes, but that's PG. The house is just a block from the beach, so the location is popular. A few notes for future guests, as we benefitted from prior guests' comments: The staircase is VERY steep and narrow, so be careful. The upstairs gets stuffy and warm and there are no screens on the windows or a way to hold them open somewhat. I spoke with the property manager about this, and he said he would try to figure out a way to keep the bathroom window open just a little (it wants to open all the way and bang into the toilet), and the bedroom window too. There are two fans in the house; once we found one of them, using it in the bedroom made sleeping much more comfortable. If you open the bedroom window, especially without a screen, know that bugs will come in. A very large, brown spider was a temporary guest one day until I ushered him back out onto the roof (and kept the window closed thereafter). Also, the seagulls are VERY noisy through the night and into the morning, but the fan sound drowned them out somewhat. The kitchen has utensils, pots, dishes, but absolutely zero food or condiments thanks to COVID. If you're going to cook, plan ahead. We did, but kept coming up with things we needed for the meals I had planned, like salt and pepper. Doh! If you have ever thought about kayaking, you can rent them at Lovers Point Beach, and can go with a guide if you'd like. Super fun. We enjoyed paddling with dolphin, otters, sea lions, and the Pacific is just so calming. If you want ice cream, make a trip to Monterey and try Revival--totally worth a trip on its own, but you can also walk down the street to the wharf and wander around. We will be back!

Sweet Pea Vacation Visit
The Sweet Pea was adequate for our needs, though not really any exta amenities. The queen bed in the bottom room was a little too firm, but not the worst we have slept in. There was only one heavy blanket, so we had to buy a lighter weight blanket since the house was a little stuffy at night. There are two fans available, which we would use when we were home. We were able to get a nice breeze in the house, but upstairs does get warm and there aren't screens on the windows so we weren't comfortable leaving them open at night. Parking was difficult since there is no designated parking, but we were able to find a space around the corner most nights. The neighbors were very friendly and we enjoyed playing with the next door neighbors dog Rory! We loved that we could walk down to the beach and into town to catch dinner and a movie. Great restaurants all over town. We enjoyed the front porch with the rocking chairs. The kitchen was really nice and comfortable and we enjoyed watching a movie in the living room with the ocean breeze coming through the windows. Overall the Sweet Pea grew on us and we enjoyed our anniversary trip.

Good boys and beaches
Visited with my adult children to attend a family funeral. I had not been home to PG in many years. The little dog who lives next door was a heartwarming neighborhood host...as was his person! He even came over say goodbye. The cottage was comfy and the fireplace was so enjoyable in the cool mornings. Being so close to lovers point was so special for all of us and it was the perfect place to make new memories. We will be rebooking!

Stayed for a week, would be happy to stay longer. Kitchen was well stocked, beds comfy. Easy to park on streets, quiet neighborhood, amazing location. Heat for downstairs bathroom is on side of sink. A home manual would be helpful for recycling rules and thermostat locations.
