“Best Ever!”
My husband and I were very pleased with this hotel, as it was very centrally located and we enjoy walking and we definitely were able to do that. We had a function to attend at the NAC and before that had dinner out, so thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was loaded with choices and fantastic!
“Easy to get to, not bad comfort, nice people”
Our room was in the second building were they are in the process of picking colors and material for a renovation. Hopefully they take out the water damaged plaster and not just go over it. The room could of been a little cleaner, cob webs in the corners and dirty fingerprints on the bathroom light switch and mirror. Over all though, it was a nice place to stay. Close to all the sites and conveniences; great restaurant just down the street, convenience store a few steps away and transit across the street. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Gotta give the staff credit for their dedication on the parking situation. Being downtown where there is not much parking they did an awsome job making a customer comfortable. It's an old building, but if they do the renovationsthat are shown on the display board, it would be a very beautiful historic building. The complimentary breakfast and computer was a bonus. One last note, we were down for a wedding and had stayed at the Hilton earlier, where there was no complimentary breakfast, the bed was not as comfortable, and the only place to eat (as everything was in the Casino and we were with family that was under age) was extremely expensive. Guess it's all depends on what your looking for.
“Not the best, but not bad”
The room was on the small side (one double bed). The breakfast provided a number of items to choose from. Our major complaint was that if you opened the window, buses were going by every couple of minutes. Closed the window, it was hot enough to require air conditioning, and the A/C unit was quite loud in the small space when it was on. Ear plugs helped. Not a room you would want to spend a lot of time in, but it served our purposes. Was in walking distance of most downtown attractions.
“Good location for the money”
Located within walking distance from downtown (about 1 mile) and still not that expensive. Room was rather small, but clean. Maybe a little too thin walls but again for that price and so close to the city center it was worth it.
“nice hotel”
it is a nice place to stay in the central area of Ottawa, convenient to everywhere.
“Decent priced comfy hotel in downtown ottawa”
For much less than a night an your average Ottawa hotel, you have free parking, a limited continental breakfast and a comfy room in downtown Ottawa. The hotel itself is less of a motel and more like a B&B, which I liked. Some travelodges are pretty cheap in their decor.
“Efficient and Comfortable”
The hotel was very efficient and very comfortable. I enjoyed the complementary breakfast which included hardboiled eggs, fresh bananas and apples, breads, bagels, muffins, cereals and yogurt. Parking is free but the lot is rather small so free weekend parking on the curb was available.
“Great Hotel for a Good Price”
I am an experienced traveller who seeks basic but clean and well located accommodations at a reasonable price. The Dorel Inn/Travelodge in Ottawa met these expectations very well. The Hotel is a classic, restored with more than adaquate ammenities, including internet service- laptop as well as WiFi. They serve an excellent free breakfast that includes toast, muffins, bagels, cereal, coffee, and juice. The location is excellent, within walking distance from many restaurants, shops, and the impressive Parliament Hill. Use the OCTranspo bus system which has stop right in front of Hotel. I was able to get an easy shuttle for $3.25 to go out to Scotiabank Place outside of town for NHL game. I highly recommend this quaint, cozy hotel to those who don't go on vacation to stay at the hotel all day long, but to explore the area and see the sites. The bed was comfortable, the flat screen TV worked well, the bathroom was clean and had plenty of water pressure and hot water- not a lot of frills and luxuries, and that is fine with me.
“Great location, great value for money!”
Great little hotel! The rooms are a little dated and the bedding is definitely older than what you'd see in one of the fancier hotels, but this is excellent value for money. You get a free breakfast every morning and free coffee in the lobby all day. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The location is great, too--you're right across from a convenience store which has the bus to the airport stopping directly out front. Also, it's just a 10 minute walk to Chinatown in one direction, and Parliament Hill in the other, with lots of shops and restaurants in between.
“Worth What You Pay”
Truly what more could you expect from one of the most affordable hotels in Ottawa. No question that if I had paid big money for my room this would have been a very average location but I didn't pay big money. Great value, clean, location was perfect for my needs, and I enjoyed my free breakfast. I will use them again if I go back to Ottawa for work, it just makes sense to save the money for other expenses.
