“Ottawa Delta”

Of all the hotels I chose to stay at in Ottawa I picked the one with construction going on. Not too impressed. Lobby located on 2nd floor. Not too impressed

“For a quick shower and nap”

Maintenance and construction on site. Poor TV Channel selection, but clean and with a swimming pool.

“Not Impressed”

Staff was nice at check-in. We stayed at the room with 2 queen sized beds, the room was small but cozy. It was extremely cold when we walked in the room so we had to crank up the heater. Sink tap provided only boiling hot water (not just hot, boiling hot) so we had to use bath tub tap in order to get cold water. We mentioned it at check-out but no apology or anything. It was cheap so we can't complain too much but overall this hotel was just ok. Although the bartender in the hotel bar was really nice.

“Who was murdered in this room?”

Everything has become mediocre in the world of 3 - 4 star hotels. Minimal service is delivered with a generic veneer of customer service gestures. They all smell like the powder or spray they use on the carpets, somewhat sweet and toxic. This hotel room had stains on the floor that looked like rust or blood. Why do they rent a room without getting rid of those stains in the carpet? Ottawa in particular is a town of bland hotels that cannot be distinguished from each other. My colleague reminded me that the same hotel was the Crowne Plaza last year. I think the only way to go is to book a new or newly renovated hotel if you want a nice room that doesn't make you have nightmares about bed bugs. :-)

“Not Nearly Worth the Money”

This hotel was under major renovations. The entire front side of the building (including the main entrance) was not there & my room was above all this construction. Noisy. Dusty. I had to enter by a side door & half the elevators were blocked off. The sauna and pool were under reno. The lobby was a small area with just a desk and table with coffee. The room itself was missing the usual amenities like soap, shampoo the first day. When I told the guy at the desk I wasn't happy with the hotel, he just smiled at me and said nothing. If I had known about this reno, I wouldn't have booked at the Delta. Nothing like the photos on expedia. Should have been 1/2 the price I paid. VERY disappointed.

“Not ready for prime time”

This hotel is not ready for prime time. In fact, I don't think they should be selling rooms until they have completed their renovations. I counted five things in the room that did not work or otherwise needed attention from maintenance. Forget it as any more than a place to sleep: constant, unremitting jack-hammering began at 8:30 a.m., making work impossible. Front desk staff were, for the most part, friendly but not particularly knowledgeable.

“Very dissappointing!”

We have visited Ottawa every year for the past three years and this is the third visit to this hotel. In the past the rooms were dated but clean, but this trip the room was not clean at all. There was food stains on the wall, the carpet was stained, the wallpaper was ripped and the window was covered in fingerprints. I understand the hotel is undergoing renovations, which we read on the website was starting in the spring. The hotel receptionist told us the renos were not starting till next week. Not worth the cost of the room. Will not go back again.

“Disappointing”

While the staff at the hotel were extremely courteous and attentive, the hotel itself was not up to the Delta hotel standards. It was old and tired, the phone by the bed was inoperative, light bulbs were burned out, in general it was more along the lines of a small roadside motel, not a downtown Delta. We are sending a letter to the Delta chain to voice our displeasure. We have stayed in Ottawa at many different hotels and this was by far the worst! Stay away.

“Very disappointing for a Delta”

The hotel is an old property, and looks it. It is a dump. The first room they gave me had a window that was stuck open, at 10 degrees below freezing. This was because the window was old and falling apart, not because it was frozen. I can't believe the cleaning staff hadn't noticed this obvious defect. They sent a maintenance man up with a drill and screws to forcibly bolt it closed, which really cramped the conference call I had to join at the time. It didn't work, so they then put me in a room 8 floors up, without any drinking glasses, and a busted ironing board. On the plus side, the staff in the hotel were unfailingly courteous and helpful, and the breakfast buffet is as good as expected. I understand that Delta is renovating this property in 2011, not a moment too soon. This was not a Delta experience or a Delta value. (Head office, please note.)

“Stay away”

The hotel is old and fun down. It is under construction and very hard to get to. I booked through expedia but when I arrived later that day their computers were no working so I had to wait for ages at check in. They did not have Internet access at the hotel. I was gouged on the price as the city was very busy and while I respect yield management the rate was more than I normally pay At much better hotels in Ottawa. The room was small and way overdue for a re-fit Staff was nice and apologetic but no cigar.
