“Excellent Location”
I was able to park my car in the underground parking, for $12 a day, and then get everywhere by walking: Parliament Hill, Byward Market, University of Ottawa and boutique shopping. The room was spacious and facilities were, if a little dated, certainly spotless. Afternoon tea and cookies was a nice touch. Breakfast included eggs (cooked yourself), cereal, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt and beverages. Microwave and kettle and coffeemaker made fast meals possible.

Loved the experience. Booked last minute and was pleasantly surprised. Can't wish for a better location and this is the perfect mix between a hotel and a Bed & Breakfast. The room set-up was enjoyable, service very professional and polite and the fact that one can actually enjoy the balcony (and the view) was a plus factor.
“No-frills but great hideaway in the heart of the market”
If you're looking for a place to stay in the heart of the city and on a budget, this is the place for you. Located beside the ByWard Market, it offers the convenience of the location but since its 1 block away from the actual market, its quiet. Free continental breakfast -- nothing fancy with choices of coffee/tea, juice, cereal, toast and pastries. Rooms are clean but very basic -- not a special romantic weekend kind of place but is very well maintained and perfect for traveling on the cheap while still maintaining some quality. Bed is on the harder side but didn't have any problems sleeping. Fridge and microwave in the room too is a nice bonus. Was upgraded to a balcony room for no charge. Be fore-warned that the hotel requires a $100 pre-auth on your credit card, even if you have pre-paid for the room. Front desk was pleasant. Make sure you also get the code to get back into the hotel after 10pm and the wireless internet code too. Tip: instead of taking a taxi or hotel shuttle from the airport, take the 97 Bus. It's $2.50 (2 tickets) to go from the airport to downtown. Pick you up at Bay 14 (outside and to the right from where you pick up your bags). Drops you off at Rideau Centre and from there it's a 10 minute walk to the hotel. $5 roundtrip is sure better than $58 by cab or $35-40 by hotel shuttle.
“Awsome staff, awesome location”
My husband and I had the best time at this hotel. The staff was so friendly and they went out of their way to help us with all our needs. The room was really clean and the price was one of the best in town. Walking distance to everywhere. Two and half blocks away from US Embassy, perfect if you're going there. I strongly recommend this hotel. I know I'll be visiting them again next year and this time, I'm bringing a bunch of friends with me, too :)
“Nice, basic hotel. Great location.”
Staff were friendly and helpful. Good location--readily able to walk to various sights in the area. Parking area is small--worked out fine but wonder what it would be like if we were there during a busier time (e.g. summertime, weekends etc.) Continental breakfast was basic but quite adequate. Room had a small balcony for outdoor sitting.
“GREAT PEOPLE & you can't beat the location!”
The people made the first and biggest impression on me - especially the guy that was there in the evenings. Super helpful & personable!!! The hotel itself was nothing fancy, but precisely just what we needed to have close access to the market area and downtown at a price that you can't beat. In dropping down to do some crunches & push-ups, I couldn't help but notice a ton of dust and an old apple core under the bed - but the rest of the room was immaculate when we arrived...just an FYI for cleaning folks - take a peek under the beds every so often ;0) Thank you Byward Blue Inn - I'll definitely be back!

We were very pleased with this hotel. For the price and the location it was great. I was a bit nervouse of the rate. Being downtown it should have been a dive for that price. We were very surprised and will return!!

Very good location, just walk distance to the Parliament Hall. Very confortable room including nice balcony.
