When we initially checked-in and entered our room we noticed a streak of dried blood on the bottom sheet.
We alerted the front desk staff who asked housekeeping to change the bedding while we went out. Upon our return, the blood was still on the bed. We called the front desk and they provided us with a new room.
While the new room was great, we woke up to find that my iPhone and iPad, both of which were plugged into the black power box on the nightstand, were dead and not charging. When we went to bed, both plug-ins on the black power box were working fine, and my two devices were charging normally. My partner's iPhone, which was plugged directly into the wall socket as it was reachable from his side of the bed, was fully charged. Overnight my two devices plus my two Apple cords died (the cords wouldn't charge my partner's phone, but the one he used was still working).
It appears that the power box on the nightstand has damaged my two devices and their power cords.
At the Apple Store, experts performed an inspection on both devices and found that the charging port pins on both the iPhone and iPad were internally damaged with zero signs of corrosion and no physical damage. Upon running a power diagnostic, they found that there was an underlying issue with the charging ports on the devices, both of which previously had zero problems prior to being plugged into the black power box.
Unfortunately, neither device was repairable due to the issue.
