Great location

Posted 13-Apr-2014
Pros: Very quiet hotel with its location
Cons: Checking to see if the rooms has to be cleaned
Location: Everything in down town Ottawa is bout 15 min walk in every direction
Overall a great place to stay in Ottawa. The only problem was getting our room cleaned, we checked in on Friday and had to request our room to be cleaned on Sunday. But having said that within 10 mins of our request of having our room clean, housekeeping was knocking at the door. Awesome job by the hotel staff to accommodate us. We will be staying there again, Great Job!

Good boutique hotel near Parliament Hill, Ottawa

Posted 12-Apr-2014
Pros: Staff were great. So was decor. Lots of little treats.
Cons: Room layout could be improved and some of the amenities could be more user friendly. Pretty hard to improve the view, but it wasn't very good.
Location: This hotel is close to Parliament Hill, many offices, bars and restaurants, and is within a 15 minute walk of By-ward Market's shops and nightlife.
Booked one night at Arc the Hotel near Parliament Hill in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, based on the recommendation of a co-worker, but mainly because it was reasonably priced, well located, unionized, and the nearby Sheraton where I usually stay was unusually costly. Arc was nicely decorated & visually appealing. Staff were very friendly & efficient. There were nice touches like chocolates and the offer of a glass of sparkling wine at check in, fresh apples and a Keurig coffee machine with good coffee in the room. Also, the room & hotel were spotless. That said, several things in room didn't work well. Safe instructions were locked inside. Looked like it could be opened either by swiping the room key or with a code, but I didn't have the previous guest's code. Tried swiping my room key every which way to no avail & eventually called Guest Services. First, the cordless phone was dead. Luckily there was a corded phone. Hit the Guest Services button on it, nothing happened. Only after I dialed 0 did I get someone. Reported both safe & phone. The maintenance guy was nice enough but he replaced the cordless phone with a corded one because he brought the wrong one. Turned out the safe could be opened with a code or credit card & he didn't get why I couldn't open it. Keurig was not plugged in. IPod alarm clock was impossible to figure out. View of concrete wall or office of someone looking right back at me. Closet door blocked room from entry hall.

Overall satisfied

Posted 9-Apr-2014
The hotel was very nice, however it was frustrating to return on Saturday late afternoon (4ish) to have our room still not clean and the staff next door, we had dinner reservations and needed to get ready and although the housekeeper did offer to clean the room for us( she was next door) we didn't have time to wait, so she just handed us our towels and coffee refills. I don't think it unreasonable to expect the room to be freshened before 4 pm.

my stay at the Arc hotel

Posted 9-Apr-2014
Pros: Valet service. The large room.
Cons: none
Location: It's just a short walk away from the parliament buildings and several restaurants.
The first room we got was very noisy. It was adjoining room and it sounded like we were sharing a room with other people. The second was quieter and a better overall. Nicer room and a bigger room. The valet and the staff at the counter were great.

Excellent location with helpful staff

Posted 4-Apr-2014
Pros: Its central location, the staff and the room size.
Cons: Personnally for us, breakfast.
Location: Just about every visitor attraction is within walking distance.
The hotel is beautifully central for Ottawa's many visitor attractions and the staff are very accommodating. Our room was spacious and had plenty natural light. The first room we saw had little natural light but staff found us one that did. The welcoming glass of sparkling wine was an excellent touch. The restaurant was not to our taste, but on the night we ate there, the food was fine. There were a few minor problems but staff addressed them promptly.

Nice hotel close to National Arts Centre.

Posted 1-Apr-2014
Pros: The King Bed was very comfortable. The room was clean. The hotel staff was helpful. Good location. Rate was reasonable.
Cons: Have 2 sets of toiletries in King Room. There is a step up in bathroom with marble tile, when exiting the bathroom would hit my toe on marble landing.
Location: National Arts Centre
Nice hotel, only stay one night. Would go again. Staff was helpful and move us to another room because of a mix up with another online booking site. Next time I will book directly with the hotel. Had a restful sleep.
