“only problem”
Our only issue was Parking. We found they had parties on the weekends and unfortunately the parking seemed worse at that time. Other than that, we are already looking forward to our next trip.
“Cozy room in a beautfiul neighborhood”
The Gabelshus is a beautiful place in a leafy, inviting neighborhood. The room was clean and pleasant. It was small by American standards but felt cozy because it was just me. The complementary breakfast and dinner were excellent. I would love to go back.
“Would highly recommend this hotel.”
My family and I stayed in this hotel for one night in July 2006. We were scheduled to stay here for 3 nights but had to change our plans due to unforeseen circumstances. We stayed in two rooms on the fourth floor and they were nice and very clean. There was a reservation problem (not at all the fault of the hotel) and they handled it professionally and graciously. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The complimentary breakfast (buffet) was by far and away one of the better ones we experienced (out of the 12 places we stayed during our five weeks in Europe). The hotel is in a nice, quiet area of Oslo, right around the corner from several foreign embassies and within relatively easy walking distance to Vigeland. I would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel, good location in quiet residential area, tram stop 1 mins walk. Huge modern bedroom but bathroom tiny. Would be happy to stay there again.
“Great place to stay!!”
This hotel is conveniently located near a streetcar stop which makes getting around in Oslo very easy. The room was neat and comfortable. Best of all was the great breakfast! In addition, the coffee is always on, there are Norwegian waffles at 3:00 and a light supper is served each night. With two meals provided by your hotel, staying in Oslo is made a lot less expensive.

Lovely hotel in a nice part of town, only a short walk into town. Food in the evening was included, a strange selection (OK for few days) but saved a lot of money by not having to eat out.

Small hotel with a great deal of charm. From the library with fireplace and computer to the excellent meals served in the dining room....this hotel met ALL of my expectations and then some! “One of Europe's few remaining bargains”
Although the days of E on 5 are long gone, this hotel represents a bargain in today's Europe. Nicely restored old hotel in a beautiful neighborhood. The bargain lies in the buffet breakfasts (fresh squeezed OJ, breads galore, herring, bacon, etc) and the buffet dinners (a wide variety)--all included. A few steps to the tram line to central Oslo. Two thumbs up.

very good location, friendly staff. The idea of offering a light buffet in the evening is excellent especially after a busy day sightseeing.
“Really nice place to stay”
Fantastic location, beautiful neighbourhood, very quiet but handy for trams, buses and walking distance (half hour) of centre and great parks. Good service and the help-yourself buffet dinner was convenient for a single traveller.
