I have been staying at the Hotel New Otani for over 5 years. It offers the perfect location close to the Osaka Castle, and close to the Kyobashi train station on the Keihan and JR Line. Rooms are nice and spacious, and very clean, restaurants fantastic (albeit pricey), and does have a fitness center. It's one of my top 2 hotels in the Osaka area. I would describe it as a perfect home-base to initiate all your day travels from.
Hotel is very dated but we found it comfortable and convenient. Staff didn't seem very interested, not sure how many foreign travelers stay here. We found our room very comfortable for a family of 4. Easy walk to train station that is on the Osaka Loop line and only two stops to Osaka/Umeda station. They have unplugged the wireless access points on all the floors so we had to go downstairs to access the complimentary internet.
We (2+1) spent one night there. It was a really nice place, kind of fancy for our standards (most of our trip to Japan we booked via airbnb). The only thing that we didn't want to try was breakfast which would cost aprox 2000 yen/person.
We enjoyed that place.
Good Location, near from Subway Tanimachi 4 Chome, Strategice place for all around OSAKA, near from Osaka Castle (5-10 min on walk), Room Clean is good. Staff need needs to be improved capability in English speaking for communication, but patient is number 1. I will be suggest this hotel for my friend and family.
This district, previously a major rice market, showcases the changes Osaka underwent when Japan was opened to the West. Aside from nearby Osaka Castle, the historic walking course along Mido-suji Avenue is popular with visitors for its featured turn-of-the-century architecture. Nakanoshima Park, situated between the Dojima and Tosabori Rivers, includes a garden with 4,000 varieties of roses and the Museum of Oriental Ceramics well-known for its collection of Chinese and Korean pieces.
