"Excellent location near all Ortigia has to offer"
Superb location and v helpful and friendly staff. Our room overlooking the bay with nice balcony was worth the extra money. There is no bar and you have to use adjacent facilities. Good choice of mainly cold food buffet breakfast but omelettes and bacon also available. The staff were so helpful in sorting out parking near the hotel which can be difficult.
Ordinarily I would have rated the hotel at about 4 because there was no minibar in the room. However, Giovanni, the proprietor, allows you to use the kitchen and the refrigerator. Thus, you have all of the comforts of being at your home. The hotel is located right in the center of Ortygia on an upscale shopping street. You are within easy walking distance of everything you will want to see on the island. If you are arriving at the train or bus station, there is a city bus that serves the island about every half hour. If you miss the bus or can't find the stop, it is only about a 15 minute walk to the hotel. What will make your stay here special is the fact that Giovanni is a most gracious host. He has a remarkable grasp of the history of Siracusa, and will basically serve as your personal tour advisor should you desire.

The B&B Globetrotter Syracuse is located in a stunning corner of Ortigia Island, the town’s historical center. We are but …More
On the plus side, the Artemide is very well situated in Ortigia - close to the sea, and walking distance to the central Piazza Duomo. The free Ortigia-round shuttle passes very close-by. Our room was very clean. We were surprised to find that breakfast was available in Piazza Archimede - a five minute walk from the B&B - and not on site. We were given tickets to present each day at the Bar Centrale. Very nice pastries both savoury and sweet available and coffee. However, breakfast only included one coffee and one pastry each. If you wanted more, you had to pay - coffee Euros 2.50 a cup and pastries from Euros 2.00. We are two coffee people, and it adds up on top of room rate. It turned out that it was very pleasant to have breakfast here and watch the world go by, but we should have been told in advance.
The big minus for the Artemide for us was the beds. The mattresses and pillows appeared to be constructed of bricks, and were the most uncomfortable we have ever experienced in any hotel or B&B. We suffered sleepless nights, as it was literally impossible to get comfortable. Such a shame - spoiled our stay. Other minus was we were asked to pay in cash - no credit card payment facility available.
"Lovely hotel a stone's throw from the centre of Or"
My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at the hotel. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the hotel is a short walk to the Piazza Duomo in the centre. We used the spa almost every day -it's small but perfectly formed, and lovely and quiet in the afternoons. The only downside was the noise from the rooftop bar on the Saturday evening, but it died down by about midnight. All in all we had a wonderful stay in Ortigia :)

Grand seafront hotel rising above an old harbour wall, less than 500 metres from the cathedral and historic Isle of Ortigia …More
Nous avons passé trois nuits dans cet hôtel très bien situé à pied du centre historique.
Nous avions une chambre vue sur mer, la voiture garée sur un petit parking juste devant
Nous recommandons cet hôtel qui vaut largement ses quatre Etoiles
"Very pleasant hotel overlooking the 'Porto Grande'"
We had a very nice suite (Alfeo) overlooking the harbour and would strongly recommend asking for a room on the front of the hotel. The hotel is in a quiet area and the staff were all very helpful. The old town can be explored easily on foot and there is a wide choice of restaurants on the island.
Friendly helpful reception staff. Location could not be better. Room comfortable and spacious. Only negative was poor service at breakfast - eg failure to clean tables or replenish buffet items (we were by no means late arrivals at breakfast). Well worth staying in Ortigia rather than new town despite difficulty we had in finding hotel by car. Cross bridge on to the island. Then bear right at junction near ruins of Apollo temple which you will see ahead slightly to your left. Follow road up to large piazza with Diana fountain in middle (Piazza Archimedes) exit diagonally opposite and then turn immediately right (ignore the restricted entry sign as you are allowed up this road to access the hotel). Hotel is on rhs. Two temporary spaces outside. Hotel will then take your car away and park for you.
