“Comfortable for family of 5”
The hotel is nice and sleeps 5 comfortably. It has a great location as we had two choices of monorails. We could take the one that stops at three resorts in addition to the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation Center. Or we could walk the same distance from our room and take the express monorail from the Transportation Center to either the Magic Kingdom or Epcot. It is overpriced as is everything at Disney. The beach is a good place to view the fireworks. The Kona Cafe is a sit down restaurant in the main building. It is fantastic and about $10 less a plate than the sit down restaurants in the Magic Kingdom. You'll need reservations but we were able to get one after we arrived. If you have little ones that need to return to the room early or take a nap, it is very convenient to stay at the Polynesian. The only dings (besides cost) is that the water smells bad and there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. When the shower was turned on, my daughter said it smelled like Yellowstone - sulphur!
“Great family Disney hotel”
Excellent service at the front desk and concierge. Good food at the quick service restaurant. Fabulous pool and slide for the kids. Nice sandy beach. Clean and relaxing. Need to book dinner at the nice restaurant, O'Hana, and show weeks in advance, which we didn't do. We missed out on both.
“Great location and worth every penny!”
We traveled to Disney World for 4 days and booked the Polynesian because we have 2 small children and wanted to be on the monorail line. Our room was ready when we arrived at 11am and was great - the bathroom looked to be newly renovated and the room was clean and spacious. Our children loved the fire torches and the beach / pool / volcano area. The best part though was the convenience factor. We stayed in building number 8 which was right next to the main lobby. This ended up being very convenient in terms of getting on the monorail, and we still had a view of the pool and could see the fireworks at night over the Magic Kingdom. The best part was how fast we could get to the Magic Kingdom using the monorail - easy to go to the park in the morning, come back to the hotel for naps, and back to the park at night. Children loved the Mickey Waffles at Capt Cooks and was a great place for fast and easy breakfast. Do agree with many readers who say the rooms are dark, but not really too big of a deal. Overall, great stay and would definitey recommend and return!
“Great Disney Hotel for families”
We took our 7 and 8 year old niece and nephew for their first visit to Disney. We went September 30 - October 3 which was fantastic as the crowds were non-existent in the parks. Our room was in the Samoa building and opened out onto a grassy area right across from the Volcano Pool which was a huge hit. And, it was not nearly as noisy as I thought it would be! Our room was also very close to the ceremonial House which is where you catch the monorail, and a very quick walk to the bus stop. Being 2 stops from the Magic Kingdom was perfect and we had time to return for naps and a swim each afternoon before we set out again for the night. It was only a 20 minute bus ride to the Animal Kingdom and/or Hollywood Studios. You can watch the nigh time fireworks from the beach. We would definitely stay again with children.
“Our new favorite hotel at Disney!”
I have stayed at many of the Walt Disney Resort Hotels over the years and have definately found a new favorite among them all...Disney's Polynesian. I had heard that it was extremely outdated before arriving and was very apprehensive about our stay, as I am very picky when it comes to hotel rooms. All my fears were relieved the minute we stepped on the property. The lobby was beautiful, the service outstanding, our room was very clean, spacious (even with a crib) and the bathrooms were great. We stayed in Samoa...which was ideal for having a 15-month old. It is right by two pools, kid play area and beach. It is also extremely close to the Great Ceremonial House, which houses the lobby, restaurants and monorail launch. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed by the Polynesian, its staff and its ammenities. My family will definatley return and look forward to staying at there again!
“2nd visit”
The room was large and clean.
“Aloha Disney”
Everything from the time we arrived was very smooth and everything we expected we got. The layout of the resort is great - everything you need is right there. Having the monorail system right outside the back was a big plus! Also, the boat transportation straight to Magic Kingdom in less than 10 mins is great! The character breakfast was great - altho crowded at times and they recommend you have a reservation - if you don't and you are staying at the resort they squeeze you in with little to no wait. The pools are very nice and the beach layout with the pool bar is great. The rooms are nice as well. Spacious enough - the beds aren't the best, but honestly, you're so tired after hitting the parks that sleeping on the ground wouldn't be a problem either! Layout of the buildings are all convienent to the main building. Only thing that is kind of far is the site for the Aloha Luau - which was a lot of fun!!! This will definitely be our hotel of choice from now on!
“Best Hotel In Disney World”
We spent our honeymoon at this hotel! It was great! The service was always friendly and the rooms were very clean. I also love what Disney has done to try and go green!
“Most wonderful place on earth”
Wonderful place to stay with your Children or Grand Children.
“Love to go back again”
We were extremely pleased with everything from staff, cleanliness, food and convenience. My 10 year old had a blast-he loved the pool, the nightly fireworks and the arcade. No problem getting around the theme parks-the water taxi, monorail and buses were frequent and easy. Overall, I highly recommend the Polynesian Hotel Resort. Disney definitely made our trip easy and memorable.
