“Really excellent choice for location and price!”
Zaby's is the place to stay for price and closeness to Disney. The hotel is not a 5 star but then that is not what I look for in accomodation. I like a more family run kind of place and Zaby's is it. The rooms were very clean and the staff really helpful. They bake cookies every day for the guests and have them available in the morning with coffee and muffins. The rooms have fridges and coffee makers. Grayline coach tours picks up outside the door so taking tours to Universal, Hollywood, airport transfers, etc is easy. There are bus stops at each of the corners of the intersection so taking local transit is easy as well. Disney maingate is two long blocks away, still an easy walk with my teenagers. Young kids may find it more difficult after a long day at Disney, but you can take the bus from Disneyland back to the hotel. There is a mini mall across the street with a Subway and an ABC mart with a small range of groceries, pharmacy needs etc. We got milk, cereal, bowls, cutlery and other no cook items for late night snacks and early mornings. There is a larger shopping mall half a block away with a wider choice of restaurants and shopping. We did not have any trouble finding places to eat or shop. Zaby's also has an outdoor swimming pool, a real plus in the 80 degree heat. There are a couple of car rental places within walking distance of the hotel too. Overall, Zaby's is a great choice for anyone wanting a good price and a clean, well run centrally located hotel.
“Good for what they charge”
I have read both positive and negative reports on this place. For me, it was fine. All I really need is a good bed, a clean shower, no bugs, and free parking. This place provided all at what today is considered a low price. If you want more, look elsewhere. It is definitely not fancy. TV channels are basic, It was probably great in the 60's and hasn't really been updated since. Some rooms may have been re-modeled, but mine was not one of them. Having said that, you get what you pay for. My room was quiet, reasonably clean and basics were provided. They supply soap and shampoo, but I bring my own anyway. No fridge, microwave or internet, but like I said, for the price this is what you get today. You can walk over to the Red Lion and get free internet. Bring your laptop/smartphone. Lots of decent restaurants within easy walking distance. If your needs are simple, this is probably the cheapest deal in town that supplies the above.
“Go somewhere else”
The building is old, the room where we stayed is stinky, we won't go back there.
