"Quite cheap room charges yet high class hotel."
Stayed 4nights (23/8 to 26/8). Really good hotel. Buffet Breakfast are excellent. All the staffs are very poliet, patient n helpful. But some of the hotel staffs have to improve English. Toilet seat are in yellow color and the shower of my room 31042 at Level 14 is spoiled n need to take some time to satisfy the shower. Also no wifi. If I want to get one day pass wifi, I have to buy at least coffee at the Bar means terrible. Overall, 4 out of 5. 👍

"Conveniently located hotel"
We stayed here several nights while exploring Bangkok. The hotel was well located for us. It is on a canal, but that canal is not used by the ferries. It is just a few blocks from the river and then a short walk to one of the river ferry docks. We took the river and canal ferries several times to get around that part of town, where most of the sights are. The hotel arranged for a canal tour for us and that was interesting. Otherwise we didn't use the hotel tour desk and I am not sure that they had the best selection of tours besides some of the standard ones. We walked several times the few blocks down to the Kosan rd area. The street above it and below it are the better options for shopping. Coming back from the weekend market we took the sky train to the river and then the river ferry to the dock nearest the hotel.

Rooms are lovely, pool is amazing. Small things could be improved such as the towels which are slightly worn. Highly recommend this hotel.

Of course, if you choose to stay in Khao San Rd, you can't ecpect quiet environment and silent nights. But my room was opposite to the road and could rest good enough. A little bit poor breakfast. Annoying wi-fi: quite poor signal, had to login every time I got connected and the account expired every three days. Remember to carefully hold the deposit receipt: you won't receive the bht 1000 back if you can't exhibit it.

"Old town but away from the craziness!"
Tara Place deserves all the positive reviews it has been getting, if you want to experience the old town but you like your luxury atmosphere this place is perfect, walking distance of the cheap tours, massages, food etc but not a hostel at all, very modern with unbelievably helpful staff I highly recommend this hotel. After staying here I moved to another hotel in the new part of town though, I advise if this is your first time in Bangkok investigate your areas carefully, a split trip was ideal for me!

Old Town - Khao San Hotels Guide

Unsurprisingly, the Old City, or Ko Rattanakosin, is packed with treasures and history. High on any sightseeing list should be the striking Grand Palace, which incorporates Thailand’s most sacred site, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (don’t forget to dress modestly and cover feet). Also recommended are the National Museum and Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho), which is 150 feet (46 meters) long and set on 20 acres.
