"We were so very pleasantly surprised by this property! We chose it for the location and the price but the pictures online seemed to look a bit basic but it was so lovely. The hotel was clean, quaint, and more high end than expected. Sure the rooms amenities were basic, but the room itself was very clean and extremely comfortable. The hotel was walking distance to everything we planned to see, and the quality of the restaurants close by were plentiful, wonderfully varied, with first rate food. The very best thing about Le Phénix Hotel was by far the incredible staff! We had interactions with about five staff over three days and every single one was extremely friendly, kind, helpful, and genuinely happy to help! If all hotels had the quality of staff Le Phénix Hotel does everyone would travel as it was 5-Star service from beginning to end. When we return to Lyon, and we will because it’s a world class city, we won’t bother looking for a hotel because this one is home! "

"It being a former convent provided the stunning online photographs of Fourviere's check-in area, the shots that would immediately capture the eye of many-a-discerning traveler not fearful to seek the artfully unconventional while traveling, the hotel where the reception desk is situated across the archway frescoed lobby from a wooden structure that perhaps in prior centuries served as a confessional, which modern day guests no doubt would imagine that the dark brown timbered piece may have witnessed actual confessions long ago, perhaps hearing the 'guilt' of an aspiring, overly self-critical Lyonnaise chef confessing his perceived gastronomic shortcomings, perhaps to the ear of a culinarily satisfied cleric who may have indulged in that very chef's cooking delights just the evening past. Fourviere Hotel Lyon is a charm, with its wondrous courtyard, serene gardens, modern outdoor lap pool, and the small touches such as the homage to famed citizens of Lyon on every guest room door. It was no doubt a slow time, and I am sure in respect to energy conservation, I found the temperature of the steam room (unsure if this was meant as the 'haman'), as well as the whirlpool, would not be inducive to most true spa/haman afficiandos. Other than that, the stay was faultless, although too short. Next time, I will surely partake in Fourviere's gastronomic offerings. "

"Very nice hotel in Lyon old town with the benefit of on site parking, albeit in a small car park accessed by car elevator. This can be a bit tricky to get in and out of due to limited space but it is great to have a secure place to park. Hotel has quirky school decor which is really well done. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff extremely helpful, despite us not speaking French. Very close to lots of restaurants, bars and historical sites. Easy access to everything on foot."

"A group of guys here for the rugby. Good check in and out. Breakfast nice and varied. A bar would have been nice. A good stay. Would certainly consider again. Good value for money."
