Nice Hotel Despite Power Outage

Posted 7-Nov-2014
Location: The mall is the only thing of any interest within walking distance. You would need a car otherwise, but that's true of Kelowna in general.
I stayed this past weekend for two nights. The hotel is near quite a few businesses. Parking was easy. The room was nice. Very good gym. Check-in and check-out were easy. Did not use the pool, but it seemed nice. However, you can easily hear people making a noise in the hallway, which made it difficult to sleep. There was a power outage Thursday night. It was overnight, and it suddenly got cold. It was fixed around 7am Friday. Not a huge inconvenience, but no one from the staff advised me as to what happened or did anything to alleviate any discomfort I had. Otherwise, a nice hotel at a reasonable rate.

Rooms overlooking the atrium VERY VERY small.

Posted 4-Nov-2014
Pros: Pool.
Cons: Ask for a large room.
Location: Mall close, many restaurants.
Room small and crampt. Could not get around bed. Washroom OK but small. Dennys on site terrible - high calorie food. Bar on site has food that is cooked in Denny's. Staff appear to drink on the job. Front desk staff friendliness hit or miss. There is a liquor store next door thank god !!! Room service prices very high. Nice pool though. Take a chance. For $$ value OK. There are nicer places in Kelowna.

Close to business part of Kelowna

Posted 6-Oct-2014
Pros: Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Choice of three restaurants onsite.
Cons: Room felt dingy and view of the back parking lot was disappointing considering the hotel was mostly empty since it was a Sunday night.
Location: Location is good in central Kelowna and close to business offices.
I was a little disappointed in the condition of the hotel. It was ok but nothing to brag about. The fact it was close to my business appointment made it a good choice however. The other good thing about the location was that it was next door to the Chop restaurant which is an upscale place for good meats. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The attached restaurant is Denny's which provided a good place for reasonable meals. The room I was booked into had a ground floor view of the back parking lot. Again, could have been a lot better for a business traveler. Clock radio did not work.

Too noisy

Posted 22-Sep-2014
Unfortunately we were on the same floor as a hockey team and right up til the 11 pm curfew it was non stop partying, banging on doors, doors banging shut. My husbands mother was gravely ill and we needed some quiet after a very stressful day at the hospital. Fix the doors so they don't bang shut and put guests on floors that don't accommodate sports teams

Central location

Staff were confused and lazy. Housekeeping did not make bed because there was a back pack on it.

Nicely refurbished room but a bit noisy

Posted 15-Sep-2014
Pros: Central location.
Cons: Windows and door need much better soundproofing.
Location: Huge shopping mall across the street. Tim Horton's just down the block.
It was quite a hike to reach the room from the lobby: up some stairs, down a hall, up some more stairs, along a mezzanine hallway above the pool, through a fire door, up another flight of stairs, through another door, down another hallway. Nicely styled room if you like modern dark colors: black granite counters, grey metallic wallpaper, etc. Very clean and in good repair. A tiny kitchenette with microwave and bar fridge was a welcome bonus. Hallway fluorescent lights blast in around the door which has large gaps around the edges--fortunately there was not a lot of hallway traffic while I was in the room, or else I imagine that noise would have been a problem. Old rattly metal windows let sounds in even when closed--I could hear every word of several conversations occurring in the parking lot.

Quick Business Trip

Posted 12-Sep-2014
IN town for one day on business. This hotel was conveniently located (halfway between each industrial zone in town), and great choice of restaurants. Hotel itself (as all Sandman) is comfortable and as quiet as can be expected being on a main road. Would definite;y recommend.

Strange...

Posted 9-Sep-2014
Pros: The proximity to shopping and the university is good.
Our room was "down" on the first floor. Street level is actually the 2nd floor. Our room was pool level, an indoor pool. We couldn't open our sliding glass door due to the smell of chlorine. We couldn't open our drapes as everyone on the pool level could see in. Plus, there's no windows to the outside. When we got up in the morning (after being woken up numerous times due to a very loud air conditioner), we had no idea what the weather was like. I would not stay here again unless I was guaranteed a room in the tower. Also, the hotel bar had one girl working the entire bar on her own. Service was very slow.
