“Great family hotel”
We stayed here on way back from south of france to break the journey for the kids - it is a lovely hotel with generously sized and very nicely decorated rooms - that also have an outside balcony or terrace which was a nice touch. Hotel also has a games room and shop. Asterix and Obelix came in for breakfast while we were there which was great for the kids. Very nice restaurant with a supberb buffet breakfast and convenient shuttle bus service to the parc.
“Very beautiful wooded area, wood sidewalks, hiking trails.”
We were there when the amusement park was closed so the hotel so my wife and I were virtually the only guests at this resort. I think I counted six cars in the parking lot one morning (we were there two nights in September, '07). The walk to the rooms is very pleasant with the covered, wood sidewalks. Our room balcony faced the forest, that had hiking trails throughout with informational boards scattered along it. The only, and I mean only, negatives I could find was that the carpet in our room had a lot of stains but the rest of the room was very clean. I also didn't care for the scrambled eggs at the breakfast buffet (they had a texture of "instant powered eggs".) Otherwise, the personnel were extremely friendly, the hotel was very nice and it was very quiet during our stay. It could be different if the park was open but I wouldn't know. Downtown Paris is about 30 minutes away, depending on traffic.
“We'll definitely stay here again.”
We stayed at this hotel to go to the Asterix Park for a birthday treat. One day, it rained so the radiators in our room were a god-send when we arrived wet and cold and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms are in 2 storey woodland lodges which are very quiet. We used the restaurant for the buffet dinner on the first night which we considered quite pricey though all the food was fresh, varied, hot and tasty. The breakfast on both mornings we were there was again fresh and very varied. Our children (10 and 7) loved the fact that they could meet Asterix and Obelix in the hotel foyer after breakfast. The magic show for children at 8.30pm during the holidays is in French of course but our children still enjoyed it. Our only problem was that we had planned to go to Paris on our last day, our daughter's 7th birthday, since our flight home was in the evening. I enquired at the hotel Reception desk about how to arrange our transport to get back to the hotel later to pick up our case. I was told (allegedly checked on the airport website) that there are places at CDG Airport to leave your bags. Despite the fact we were very sceptical, of course, we discovered that obviously that is NOT possible. The result was that we spent her birthday at CDG airport.
“Lovely hotel hidden away”
We spent 2 nights @ the hotel & 1 day @ the Parc Astérix which was the wettest day in 2008 so far. However we had a fabulous time. We avoided week-ends which are a lot busier and went when it was not half-term in France. As a result, there were no queues, apart from for the Tonnerre de Zeus for which we waited 30 min. There is a shuttle bus to the Park which runs every 15 minutes (it is only a 5 minute-ride). We went for the buffet on the first night (there was so much of it) and we could not fault the quality. On the second night, we had a snack at the bar and this was equally as good. Beware though that the hotel relies on passing customers so, if you are staying for more than 2 nights, you might find the food a bit samy. We found the initial welcome @ the reception & @ the bar cold (I can see why the hotel ended up with some negative comments). However, things improved on the 2nd day. Would we recommend the hotel to friends/family? We already have and we intend to go back. The good thing is that you do not have to go to the Park to stay @ the 3 Hiboux. You can easily visit Paris too by jumping on a shuttle from the entrance of the Park to either Paris or CDG airport from which you can catch a train which will take you to the center of the city (Chatelet - Les Halles). The hotel is in the middle of a forest so the location is fab. You can't hear the motorway, yet it is only 5 minutes away from the A1. The bunk beds were a huge hit with the children too.
“great for a stopover”
We stayed here on the way back from the south of France for one night. Very friendly reception staff and room was excellent as all five of us could stay in one room. Room was clean and kids loved being able to hear the roller coasters from our terrace. Restaurant was nothing special, expensive buffet with lots of wasps for company. Breakfast was much better and set us up for a great day in Parc Asterix. Children enjoyed the magic show in the bar and had a photo with asterix the next morning in reception. Very good value and fantastic position, 2 minutes from the A1 - only 2 hours from Calais.
“Hotel Review”
Hotel was modern, clean and in a lovely tranquil environment. Large room with seperate sleeping area for the children and a deck overlooking woods. Complimentary shuttle to Parc Asterix next door. Only complaint was the food. We stayed 2 nights and the self serve buffet was identical on both nights with a distinct lack of vegetables at dinner and the only cooked food for breakfast was runny scrambled egg or pancakes.
“Great Stay!”
My husband and our two girls (10 and 6) stayed here over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. Check in was speedy and room was ready. We were very happy with our ground floor room which was clean and comfortable. The only down side of the sleeping arrangements was the bunk beds were set in an alcove and the ladder was very steep and awkward to climb into. In fact my daughter ended up not sleeping on the top bunk but pulling out the extra bed from underneath and using that. Food wise, dinner was O.K, not much choice for the kids but me and my husband were able to find something we liked. Breakfast was good although when we arrived everything had run out so I spent most of the time running backwards and forwards asking for them to replenish the trays. Over all I would stay here again as it was a shuttle run to the Parc Astrix and clean and comfortable.
“Clean, spacious, and convenient to Parc Asterix, just don't eat there.”
This wilderness lodge style hotel was right next to Parc Asterix and offered a shuttle, making it very convenient to get to the amusement park. However, since the location was so remote, dining was limited to the hotel restaurant and food prices were very expensive (29 Euros per person, plus drinks). Breakfeast was also unreasonably priced (13 Euros pp). The nearest reasonable restaurants are located 10 km south at autoroute exit 7 (no tolls). The rooms offered bunk beds for kids, a separate bedroom, and deck or balcony overlooking a forested area. In front of the hotel, weird sounds can be heard at night emanting from the woods near the Thunder of Zeus rollercoaster. The common building is quite large and offers a bar and gameroom.
“If you're going to Asterix book this too !”
Really enjoyable (and a bit different!)
