Beautiful view, lovely roomPosted 19-Nov-2013
Pros: Location, reasonably priced. Nice room.
Cons: Hot water on the top floor.
Location: Located right on the Ocean City Boardwalk, you walk out of the hotel and there is plenty to do along the boardwalk-shopping, sun, surf, food!
We went for a quick weekend getaway in November. We booked a double queen bed ocean view room, and were pleasantly surprised to find we had a top floor corner room. The bathroom is small but clean, with a tub/shower combo. In the room is a micro/fridge combo and a coffee maker (and the fixins). There is a room safe, but they do indicate you will be charged $1.50 a night to use it. There are 2 comfortable queen size beds, and a pull out couch in the room, as well as a large flat screen TV and dresser and desk. The view can be seen by the french doors and window which face the ocean/boardwalk. In our corner room, there was an additonal window facing the side of the building, allowing an overall view of Ocean City. We had a problem with our TV remote, which was addressed immediately by the staff. The kids enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool, located on the ground floor, although while they were there the water was very cold. For morning showers, we did have some difficulty with hot water, but otherwise, no concerns for this lovely place in an ideal location! We didn't get to try the restaurant, but the smells of the food were mouth-watering!

A wonderful experience!Posted 3-Nov-2013
Pros: Everything! Price, value, convenience, location, amenities, staff...all were exceptional!!
Cons: Longer hours for the pool/spa.
Location: It was right on the boardwalk, close to all the good shops and activities, but far enough from the hustle and bustle to still be relaxing.
Myself and 2 co-workers decided to take a weekend escape. I surfed thru many, many hotels and motels in search of availability for an off-season stay, with reasonable rates and amenities. The Howard Johnson Plaza completely fit the search! It was on the boardwalk, close to shops, restaurants, and activities. It was peaceful at the same time. The staff was so friendly and accommodating we wanted to stay longer. We will definitely will be returning!

Terrible shower setup but okay for pricePosted 29-Oct-2013
Pros: The price
Cons: Design of room, size and upgrade
Location: Great with being on boardwalk and along beach
The room was small but decent for the price. The shower was poorly designed beings it was handicap accessible. The shower was not wide enough, with poor drainage which caused water to get everywhere. The beds were comfortable. Side balcony was nice to sit out on and look at ocean. Staff was pleasant. Great location with being on boardwalk.

Nice Hotel on BoardwalkPosted 10-Sep-2013
Howard Johnson hotel is a moderate hotel with a great location. Rooms are regular hotel type room, clean and comfortable but nothing special. Bathroom is very small and only had a shower. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Indoor pool and Jacuzzi but no outdoor pool.

Great room right on the boardwalk....Posted 1-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
We made a last-minute decision to have a summer get-away to Ocean City, and wanted a room large enough for the family with an ocean view on the boardwalk. Hotels.com did a great job of helping me sort through the options and find this Howard Johnson's site. Our room was large, with two queen beds and a sofa, and very nicely appointed and clean. The hotel had an indoor pool, which turned out to be useful on the first rainy afternoon. The location was great, literally looking down on the beach and boardwalk. My only reason for giving an overall rating of 4 was that the restaurant was ... odd. For example, we went for breakfast the first day and got the buffet, but they don't allow you to serve yourself - it's like going through the toppings line at Subway, where you have to ask them to add different items to your plate. It just felt very supervised and uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend using the hotel restaurant, as a result. Fortunately, we didn't need the hotel restaurant again, and the rest of our stay was marvelous. We would definitely stay at this location again!

Howard Johnson's on the BoardwalkPosted 30-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
Overall is was a good place to stay. The hotel is older which means that the rooms are smaller. The room was just big enough for 2 adult and a child. The bathroom was very small. The shower screeched loudly. Our room was clean and even though we only had a side balcony, the view was still very nice. Based on the location between the boardwalk and highway, I expected it to be very noisy but that was not the case at all. It was very quiet. The location on the boardwalk was just right -- not too close to all the craziness at the end of the boardwalk but close enough to walk there.

Great location, okay hotelPosted 28-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
Our hotel stay was just okay. The hotel had ample parking, a main floor bar and restaurant, and the room was clean. We also had the boardwalk and a beautiful beach right out front. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The indoor pool was just okay. Small, a little old and dirty, but did the job. I paid for a room with a view and a balcony, and we got that, but most of our view was of the hotel entryway roof below us, which pooled dirty water and cigarette butts in front of our balcony. When we put our towels and hotel blanket out there to dry one night they were soaked from the air conditioners from the rooms above. While we were changing and showering after the beach one afternoon, the fire alarms went off from a kitchen fire and the hotel was evacuated. I understand this was out of their control, but I do wish we were compensated with an apology or a free drink at the bar at least, for being pulled out of the shower in the middle of our day. So we did have some unfortunate circumstances during our stay, but I did really like the hotel's location.
