“Great Oak Park Hotel”
I was was delighted to find this old-school hotel, located across the street from the Ernest Hemingway Museum and near the heart of the Frank Lloyd Wright District. My room was small and comfortable; the attached restaurant (Hemingway's Bistro) is excellent. Parking is free but a couple of blocks' away, at a public parking garage. Close to the Green Line of Chicago's "L" system.
“Chicago's best secret”
Great rooms and service. The building is wondeful just to look at. Very nice area: night walks and nice restaraunts and coffee shops, this place is really great and not too far from downtown. I will definitely return on our next family vacation. No pool for the kids. Oak park is the nicest area we have found in Chicago to stay during a visit, and this hotel tops the list. I strongly recommend this place.
“Fabulous stay!”
The Write Inn is a great hotel! Very friendly service, great location, nice charm!
“Will stay again”
Convenient location; exceptional customer service; old, quaint, modestly decorated; loved the free parking; do wish the newer elevator had been working properly, it was difficult to use the old elevator with all the luggage. Will certainly stay again. Thank you.
“Will be coming back again!!”
Our room was rather small, but very clean and comfortable. Had a very impressive and filling breakfast at the Hemingway Bistro. Loved the atmosphere of the hotel.
“Was what we expected”
After reading other reviews, this hotel was pretty much what we expected in that it was a charming, historic building. Our room was large and had everything we needed. I surprised by how clean and well maintained it was. The TV had very few stations which could be a problem for some travelers and we could hear noises from other rooms but we didn't hear the banging of doors and car trunks at 6 am which happens so frequently at chain motels. Also the train was a convenient and quick way to get to Chicago. We took GO transportation from the airport and thought that was a rip off. To return, we took the EL into Chicago, walked to Union Station and put our luggage in a locker, spent the day downtown and then took the EL to Midway.
“Wonderful hotel!”
20 minutes from downtown, this place is a gem. Beautiful decor, comfortable rooms, and not like any other hotel in Chicago. The way a hotel should be!
“Chicago Treasure”
A super place. The hotel was welcoming and efficient. The staff were competent and helpful. There was a bit of a mixup in our room type which was corrected without fuss. The 'Write Inn'is a great place for anyone interested in the Wright sites. Chicago and its attractions are a train ride away. We did galleries and museums as well as theatre. What they say about coming back and finding good restaurants is true. Enjoy!
“Very nice hotel.”
I enjoyed staying there. The room was adequate.
“Enjoyed my week at The Write Inn!”
I was in Oak Park to find an apartment. The Write Inn is perfectly located. It is nice and clean.
