“Enjoyed our stay.”
The staff was very accomedating. We enjoyed our stay at the Otani hotel. We jogged in the park every morning which is right across the street from the hotel. The beach is nice, right out in front of the hotel. Wikiki is within walking distance from the hotel, about 10 mins. The vallet service was handy. We would stay again.
“Want to make this one a frequent visit”
We enjoy the extreme aloha served up by every person that works at the New Otani. Nowhere else in Honolulu has 100% of the employees with a great attitude and sincerely happy outlook toward its visitors. We walked to Waikiki every day, rented paddle boards right at the hotel and were able to paddle out right in our own "back yard". The Hau Tree Lanai became a favorite for us. We bought a package deal that included a free full breakfast every day and spent several nights there for dinner as well. This is a favorite spot for us and we visit even if we don't stay there for our entire trip. If a room is available on the beach front, we will choose that hotel every time.
“It was fine”
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food at both restaurants were good. No Happy Hours. I enjoyed the beach very much. When they say they're off of the main drag - they mean it. I have no complaints. I'd stay again.
“five star service!”
The New Otani Hotel is in the greatest location one could wish!!! The service of the hotel staff is similar to a five star hotel experience, although the rooms are in need of repair...for the cost the new Otani is a great value!
“loved the location”
The hotel is not right in the middle of Waikiki, but is less than a 10 minute walk to the nearest shop/starbucks. We enjoyed the walk in the morning and walking back in the evening along the water was wonderful, watching the sunset and listening to the waves. Right on the beach! you walk from the lobby to the sand, and the water was gorgeous and clear. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, could not have asked for better service. We breakfasted at the Hao Tree and the food and service were amazing.....would definately recommend this place and would return at the drop of a hat!
“fabulous view of Waikiki" from balcony”
The beach is right there. It is not crowded. this is at Xmas time. Hotel has restaurants serving breakfast , lunch, dinner, and on Xmas eve and Xmas day a special meal. The staff was very nice. It's a 10 minute walk to exciting "Waikiki Beach" and stores where the shopping is great. It's off the crowded strip, but at the end of Kapiolani park near the Zoo and Aquarium.
“Gem of a hotel”
The staff of the New Otani are what really make a difference. From the front desk staff to the bellmen and maids to the servers at their marvelous restaurant (love the Hau Tree Lanai!) to the bartenders in the lounge, everyone is helpful and truly friendly. You can't beat the hotel's location--right on the beach and slightly removed from Waikiki's crowds, and the Hau Tree Lanai restaurant is a great place to eat and take guests. This hotel is one of the less-known gems on Oahu.
“Best Hotel on the Ocean”
After traveling for 13 hours we finally made it to our hotel, the hotel lobby made me feel right at home. The room was small but who cares when all you do is sleep there. The hotel was located right on the beach, so you had a beach view along with a view of Diamond Head.
“Loved It”
The hotel staff was extremely helpful with all of our questions. Travel tip for anyone visiting: DO NOT RENT A CAR! TheBus is an extremely cheap route to go and is great if you are in the Honolulu, Waikiki part of the island. This hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere and the beach is practically empty during the week. The strip is only a ten minute walk or two minute ride on the #2 bus into town.
“Will definitely return”
Lovely beach location. View from some/most rooms. I had a lanai that looked out on Diamond Head and a small view of the ocean. Perfect for the price! It's a very clean hotel but not super updated. Bed was comfortable and hotel was quiet. It's a convenient location - a 10 minute walk to the crazy action of Waikiki, restaurants and lots of outdoor activities and entertainment.
