“Fabulous, Romatic Hotel with the charm of old Hawaii.”
The hotel has the charm of old Hawaii with all of the modern convinences. The rooms are lovely with wonderful beds. The pool area and the beach are clean and inviting. The banyon tree in the courtyard is magnificant. I cann't wait to go back. It is by far, my most favorite hotel in Honolulu.
“Our Moana Surfrider”
The Moana Surfrider was outstanding in all respects. Location, food, rooms, service, and even the history of the main building all lent to an great get away to Hawaii. I would recommend it and will stay there in future travel to Oahu.
“Didn't want to leave!!”
The location of this hotel is perfect! The condition is topnotch and the service is excellent! They took care of us so well, we didn't want to leave.
“Beautiful, grand hotel on the beach”
Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Love sitting under the Banyan tree at the beach bar with great live music. Day spa lovely looking out over the water but expensive. Convenient location. Great to walk along the beach & up to diamond head. Trolley stop just outside the hotel to go to Ala Moana shopping centre. Royal Hawaiian shopping centre just a stroll away. Our second stay at this hotel & would definately stay there again.
“Still the best spot on Waikiki”
This hotel is very well kept up for being such a historic old building, paints looks fresh rooms renovated etc. Best amenity is the fantastic breakfast the serve every morning it's a little pricey but worth the $$, and you get a beautiful view while you dine. For cocktails the bar by the pool is a great place to catch a sunset and enjoys some drinks and music. My wife and I also used the Spa and had a great experience getting a massage, highly recommend. If you are looking for a great hotel, that is close to all the amenities of a big city (shopping, dining, etc.) this is the spot. If you want to experience some of the rugged and natural beauty Hawaii has to offer you need to either rent a car and get out of the city or stay somewhere off Waikiki, but like I said I think this is the best place to stay on Waikiki. My only complaint about the hotel is that due to its prime location on a very busy street getting in and out can be a little tricky with traffic, but the valets are very helpful.
“Excellent place to stay - the pick of the locations on Waikiki Beach!”
This was a great hotel, such a beautiful location, right on the beach - one of only a handful. The historic element to the hotel is lovely, the staff are all very friendly, food was great & we particularly loved the beach bar & food & beverage service under the beach umbrellas (though it would have been nice to not incur an additional fee for those hotel beach umbrellas). Concierge were a little hesitant to give out information for services/activities that they didn't endorse, which made getting a wide range of choices a little difficult, but this didn't affect our experience at all. I can't wait to go back!
“Absolutely stunning hotel - it's a must!”
As we drove down the main strip looking for our hotel, my husband and I passed a beautiful white building with large columns and wonderful ambience. He asked me what the significance of the building was and I said I had no idea but we should check it out after we find the hotel. Turns out that WAS our hotel! Absolutely stunning exterior. We couldn't have picked a nicer place to stay. Immaculate grounds, beautiful lobby, and interesting historical background. We were greeted with leis and a cold lemon green tea. Our room was in the historic wing - it was definitely small with one tiny closet and limited space to store out luggage/clothes. Bathroom was also pretty small with limited storage. However, the ocean view made it well worth it. Fabulous views of the ocean! And the hotel was literally on the beach. So we could slip on our flip-flops, walk to the back of the lobby and be on the beach within seconds.Giant banyan tree and outside eating area in the back too so we could sip our drinks, have an appetizer and watch the sun set. Really lovely place. And in the front, there are rocking chairs so we spent a night or two people-watching while we enjoyed the warm evening. The valet parking is pretty steep ($230 for one week) but in general it's very difficult to find parking in Honolulu so we just shrugged and paid it. We definitely recommend this really unique, historical hotel. You won't find another like it in Honolulu.
“Very Impressive”
Wonderful experience to stay in the historical hotel. Evening entertainment under the Banyon tree was delightful and very relaxing. I only wished we had taken the hotel tour our first day there.I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to experience the " Moana" on Wakaii overlooking Diamond Head.
“Would reconmend”
The first room we had was on the street side, and we asked to be moved. The front desk was more than happy to help us out. Both rooms were clean and tidy. The hotel had the best location on the beach. You walked right out the door and the beach was less than 50 feet away, and the beach was clean and inviting.
“Best beach hotel in Waikiki”
We loved our stay at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. The beach access seemed to be the best compared to all the other hotels around. The Sheraton had a private area roped off for guests where you could get an umbrella and chairs which kept you out of the maddening crowds and the sun. The Banyan Tree courtyard and pool were also a great refuge from the crowds. With a nice bar for water, cocktails and snacks. This hotel is right in the middle of Waikiki, easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants. No car needed. The hotel is old but has been beautifully restored and maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. I am ready to go back!
