An awesome little hotel

Posted 23-Nov-2014
Pros: The staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and well maintained.
Cons: The air conditioning unit was loud but this appears to the norm in NA. Some variation in pillow thicknesses would also have been appreciated.
Location: Beaches are 10 minutes walk away. Ala Moana shopping centre is a short shuttle/walk away. Loads of good restaurants in the area.
We wanted a bed closish to the beaches without breaking the piggy bank and this place delivered! Luana is about 10 minutes walk north east of Kahanamoku Beach and bordering the pretty Fort DeRussy Beach Park. The facilities at the hotel were spacious and clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Protea cafe just off the lobby is well worth a stop or three for breakfast also.

hidden charges

Posted 21-Nov-2014
Pros: location
Cons: less expensive parking.
Location: Beach, main drag shopping.
the nightly rate veried by as much as twenty dollars. There's a "hospitality fee of $15 per day, FOR WHAT? Manditory valet parking of $35 per day. So add at least $50 a day in fees to you hotel room cost.

Affordable condo/hotel on the edge of Waikiki

Posted 10-Nov-2014
Pros: Price, kitchen, desk staff, large room, location
Cons: Concierge
Location: Six blocks from the beach, two blocks from the Galleria where you can pick up the trolleys that can take you everywhere, miles of espensive shopping
We recently spent two days at the Luana on our way back from Australia. The room was very comfortable although a little dated and had a small kitchenette with dishes etc. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. There is a small cafe attached that serves breakfast and lunch. It is a fair distance from the beach about six blocks but there are many restaurants about two blocks away. It is beside a lovely park and there is a ABC convenience store across the street. Good value for the price. My only complaint was the concierge who was not really very helpful. When I asked about booking a trip for the day he told me I was too late in the morning but he made no effort to redirect me or offer other suggestions of things we could do.it was late on the second day before I found out about all the trolley routes I could have used to visit Diamond Head or other spots for only $20. I guess he doesn't get a commission for that.

Good value

Posted 7-Nov-2014
It's a good value stay. Staff are great and the hotel has a reasonable location and facilities. It is however getting old and the balconies are not much fun. What is with the mini ironing board???

Pleasant hotel

Posted 4-Nov-2014
Pros: Good, friendly staff Efficient check in and check out Nice pool area Above average workout room Walking distance to Waikiki shops and beach Next to nice green park Cons: Room was close to the street and it was noisy at night. Recommend asking for a room on a high floor or facing the park Expect to be waiting... And waiting... And waiting... For the elevators!

My experience staying at Luana Waikiki was wonderful. The employees always made sure that we were comfortable on our trip. They have this one worker that works there by the name of "Jake" he was an outstanding host. He always made sure we were comfortable being we came from California. He made both me, my mom, and my niece feel very welcomed. I will definitely stay at Luana Waikiki next time I visit Hawaii and I will most definitely recommend it to all my family. And, trust me I got a BIG family.

Mixed feelings, will recommend with explanation

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: The room was very comfortable, staff were pleasant and helpful
Cons: Yes if a room is reserved the reservation should be honored, The original price should show an honest reflection of price.
Location: Excellent location, lots to do near by
I liked this hotel and staff very nice location and very comfortable but we had two experiences that were unpleasant the first being we reserved and made advance payment for 2 rooms with 2 queen size beds and we arrived, there were no rooms available with 2 queen size beds. The young man at the front desk provided a rollaway at no extra charge, even though this helped it still wasn't what we reserved. The second unpleasant thing was even though we thought we made full payment on Expedia there was and additional $15.00 per night charged to each room for resort fees. I find this a deceitful and a bit offensive since the actual charge was more than advertised and originally charged. I do like the hotel the bed was comfortable and staff were pleasant and helpful. Will I go back, I'm still thinking about that.

Recent vacation in Paradise!

Posted 18-Oct-2014
Pros: The staff was great.
Cons: Pricing
Location: It is right on the main drag in Waikiki. Close to lots of shops.
We just returned from 8 days in Waikiki. We stayed at the Luana Waikiki. It was great. Very friendly. Close to shops, restaurants and the beach. Can catch the City Bus or ride the Trolley most everywhere. The hotel staff was very good about getting us transportation when we weren't walking. Was able to walk to most places. Woould go back again.

Shows some age

Room was just okay. Small bathroom. Hotel appears to need a remodel. Does not have a bar or full restaurant, just a small breakfast cafe. Situated on a busy street.
