Great water pressure in an older hotel room.Posted 21-Oct-2014
We stayed one night in a deluxe suite after spending a week in a timeshare. The room was very spacious with a nice kitchen wall. The shower had great pressure and got nice and hot. 5 stars for the shower. The beds were comfortable, the staff were very friendly. Our view overlooked the under construction international marketplace, which was fun for my son to watch the equipment but it wasn't noisy. We walked to Waikiki beach and barrowed the hotel grass mats, which were handy. Parking wasn't a problem and there was plenty of good food within walking distance. We got a great rate on expedia which made the room well worth it.

Good HotelPosted 20-Oct-2014
Very nice hotel. One of the older hotels so don't expect sparkling modern. What you get is excellent value for money. Great location in middle of Waikiki. Big clean rooms.

Nice staff and very clean for aged hotel.Posted 17-Oct-2014
Pros: Cleanliness, comfortable bed and spacious room.
Cons: Larger hot water tanks!
Location: About a block to where the international market place used to be (what a shame they tore that down). Just a few blocks to Waikiki beach.
There was only drawback for us. The room has it's own very small hot water tank and if you like lengthly showers you're out of luck. Hot water lasts about 7 or 8 minutes. We waited between showers for the tank to recharge. For the money it's a great place to stay. Like I said the only issue we had was running out of hot water. Staff was super nice and the room very comfortable and spacious. Old furniture, etc. but the place was better than we expected. We will definitely stay here again.

Very impressed with Hotel Ilima.Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: Loved everything about hotel, staff played a big part.
Cons: Can't think of anything that can be improved.
Location: Brilliant location, close to shops, places to dine, a souvenir market, Wakiki beach is a 5 minute walk away, and public transport is right there too.
Our party of three arrived 2 hours before check in time, our room was ready, we were expected and warmly welcomed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room itself was very clean, and housekeeping did a wonderful job, the full kitchen was a bonus. We were invited to take part in lei making on Wednesday morning, compliments of the hotel which was a great experience and got to take our lei's home. When we checked out, we were surprised to be presented with a shell necklace each, a lovely gesture.

Good value for money with FREE parking!Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: It's not waterfront (has water glimpses), but clean with a 10 minute walk to beach, kitchens and free parking make it great value.
Cons: Onsite computer (outsourced to an external company) was useless and staff could not sort it. In 2014 it still used Windows XP. Please update!
Location: 10 minute walk to beach and 1 to 2 blocks from all the action.
Good, clean hotel with friendly staff and reasonable location considering the relatively cheap price. Free parking was limited but we always found a space and this is a huge saving with parking in surrounding hotels costing $30 / day. Kitchens also enabled us to provide good meals at supermarket prices. Recommended as a clean hotel with excellent value.

Cons: I am sure we can find small things wrong in every room. My bathroom wall paper corners were coming off. The hotel is old the service is first class.
Location: One street over from the hotel there is a scuba dive shop. The prices are good and they have all the gear with great instructors and boat operators.
Waikiki Beach in Hawaii is packed with older hotels just off the beach front. I was in Hawaii and decided to extend my stay so with the help of Expedia 2 nights before saw the Ilima online. The Ilima hotel had a kind of South Beach Florida look to it and the price was right. The lobby is like walking into the 1970's tv show Hawaii 50 and all stall were super friendly and enjoyed all inter actions with them. The staff can arrange anything like Pearl Harbor trips car service to the airport or any activity available in Oahu. My room was huge and straight out of the 1970's when I was a kid. It had a king and double bed with full kitchen and was very clean but definitely showed signs of age. The bath was all new white tile and new fixtures a big plus. The room had a safe with a minimal per night charge. There was maid service daily and they do a great job. My favorite part of the room was the giant sliding glass door that opened the entire room to my private balcony. My bed was so close to the door that I was basically sleeping outside every night. The hotel has 3 floor parking garage its free but first come first served I never had a problem with space. Most hotels in Hawaii charge almost the cost of car rental for parking. The Ilima is less then 10 min walk to the most famous pink Royal Hawaiian hotel area where anyone can go the beach. The area around the Ilama hotel has everything. I recommend this hotel to anyone who does not mind staying at an older hotel.

Some things had been updated in the room but the air conditioner was patched with tape and was rusty. Great view of the Ala Wai canal but the neighborhood was a bit scruffy

Ilima at WaikikiPosted 25-Sep-2014
Pros: Handy to everything without being congested out front of the Hotel
Cons: Air conditioner was a little noisy at times but kept the room at a manageable temperature
Location: Handy to a place for breakfast (Seaside Bar & Grill) at a reasonable price. Large selection of eateries within easy walk. Supermaket nearby
No problems at any stage. Staff were helpful and assistance was only a request away

Centrally located hotelPosted 17-Sep-2014
Pros: The ability to use the kitchen to make simple meals and sandwiches etc. Not having to eat out for every meal helped keep the cost of our stay low
Cons: The rooms are dated in their decor and fittings, and double glazing would be an advantage.
Location: The hotel is within easy reach of the beach, shops and dining places plus it is near bus and trolley stops to get anywhere in the area.
The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful, they could not do enough to make our stay a good one. Rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Maid service everyday.
