“Older Hotel, aged gracefully.”
As mentioned, the hotel was quite old. But the rooms were spotless and HUGE. Won't find that in a newer hotel. The kitchen was small but everything you needed including a stove. The location was great short walk down the street, throught the very interesting market place and you are at Waikiki Beach. They had ample parking and again, their staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We will stay there again.
“Would Stay Again”
We stayed at the Ilima from July 11th - 24th. We had 2 kids with us and even with a cot in the room there was lots of space. The pool wasn't large but the sun did shine there for about 4 hours a day. There is also a deck for tanning. The beach is only 2 or 3 blocks away. If you arrive back at the hotel by about 7:00 you will get a parking space. We found one 5 out of 6 nights. Parking and internet (if you take your computer) are free which was nice. We made a lei with kukui nuts at the hotel which was fun. Even my son enjoyed making it on his 16th birthday for his grandmother who loved it. The kitchen was adequate and the room was clean. The staff were all excellent and very friendly. This was a very positive experience for us and we would definitely stay there again.
“I'll go back next time too.”
satisfied specialy free parking and full kichen.
“Best Buy !”
We had a great time at this little hotel 2 streets from the beach. Inexpensive but all services and smiles. Real Aloha spirit lives here. Go there and save your money to go out and enjoy the vacation of your dream.
“already looking to go back”
After a long day of travel we arrived to very helpful friendly staff Our room was ready for us including a cold jug of water in the fridge. The deck was a good size and had comfortable chairs and a table that we used every morning for breakfast. This hotel is only a short stroll to Waikiki beach (aprox 5 min), nice variety of restaurants and shopping all within a block or two of the hotel. We were very comfortable in our room and have already recomended this hotel to others who are thinking of going to Hawaii. I can hardly wait until we can go back.
“Inexpensive gem in Waikiki”
The Ilima is a gem! Our room was large, the "kitchenette" had a 4-burner stove and full-size fridge, everything was squeaky-clean. It's two blocks from the Waikiki beach, half a block from the Ala Wai canal running path, near bus routes. We had views of the mountains from our 4th-floor balcony. It's _not_ a "resort hotel". The pool is small, the lobby isn't impressive, there's no restaurant on the premises, no room service. But it's in the middle of Waikiki! There are dozens of places to eat, lots to do. We had a great time.
“Will stay here again on my next visit to Honolulu”
The Ilima is in a very convenient and central location to the beach, dining, bus stops, shopping, International Market. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Free wifi in lobby is so nice when other hotels or cruiseships are charging an arm and a leg! The view I had from my 11th floor room was of the mountains, golf course and Canal...spectacular night or day! I left my blinds open so I could see the lights on the mountains. Would definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends and stay there in a New York minute!
“Excellent hotel”
The hotel staff were extremely helpful. They answered any and all questions well. I asked about the bus, and they provided a good bus map, and helped me by printing off the schedules, for example. The hotel pool was small, but completely unnecessary, as Waikiki beach is only a few blocks away. The hotel is certainly not right on the beach, but it was never advertised as such. A few blocks walk was fine with us. The kitchen was well-equipped, and saved us an enormous amount of money (given the food prices in Honolulu). I would definitely recommend this hotel highly to anyone going to Hawaii.
“Ilima treats you like Ohana (family)”
Our 2nd stay at the Ilima a lovely older hotel in Waikiki in between Kuhio Avenue & the Ali Wai Canal. Walking distance to restaurants, beach, shops, International Market Place, etc. The staff is fantastic and guests are treated like Ohana. We really enjoyed the added Wednesday morning complimentary lei making activity. We will go back.
“Great place to stay”
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They even presented us with a Lei on checkout. Only a short walk to Waikiki Beach. Close to several stores and even a Starbucks. They even had a cold Pitcher of water in the fridge waiting for us when we checked in. We stayed in the Deluxe Suite and was very comfortable and had loads of room.
