“Aloha Ilima!”
A great hotel with super friendly/helpful staff! Only minutes away from the main areas in Waikiki...which was a nice escape from the crowd. The room was large and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen facilities were great with a full sized fridge and working oven/stove. I highly recommend this hotel!
“We loved the Ilima Hotel”
My daughter and I were in O'ahu to visit UH, so we weren't exactly looking for a "vacation" stay. However, we ended up having an excellent experience at the Ilima Hotel. Yes, it is an older style building (orginal 1968, but hey, that's 7 years younger than me!) but it has been kept up immaculately (again, like me!) :o). Our large, airy room was spotless. It included a kitchenette with fridge, dishes, glassware, silverware, pots and pans. Our bathroom was updated and again, spotless. Our carpet was new. Our beds were firm with crisp white sheets. The room was cleaned beautifully every day. We had a balcony, a large sliding door and windows that open to the cool tropic breezes. One day we turned on the air conditioner, and that worked well, too. There was a flat t.v. we never watched. We were able to park in the well-lit garage every evening without a problem. Just take your time getting in and out of the tight spots. The staff at the Ilima is bright, nice, hard-working and friendly. They answered questions, gave advice, loaned out beach towels and greeted us day and night. They made us feel at welcomed and at home. Be on the lookout for good rates for the Ilima on Expedia!
“Small name, big value”
What a great place! So close to the beach, very clean, friendly staff, free parking available, everything you need right in the room; I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone going to Waikiki.
“parking available”
Staff very friendly and accommodating. Toilet leak repaired as soon as I reported it. Parking available, which is a hugh plus in the waikiki area hotels. Overall an excellent deal for the price. I have been e returning guest for the last few years. Make sure you get a higher floor because the street noise can keep you awake at night.
“Can't beat the price”
Great stay! Staff is very helpful and friendly. If your budget is limited and you want a nice place to stay,You've found it!.Free parking, but do rent a ecodemy car. Stalls are a little small , The hotel is walking distance to beach and every thing else. We would stay there again
“Shhh! A gem in Waikiki !”
We stayed at the Ilima Hotel last week (Sept. 2010) and we had a great experience. We are seasoned Hawaii travelers and it is important to us to stay in a reasonably priced Hotel with a kitchen...The Ilima did not disapoint. Yes it is not ocean front but we were at the beach everyday. We could not go every year if it were not for reasonably priced Hotels like the Ilima. It was clean, quiet and VERY well located to stores and restaurants. We rode "THE BUS" all over..picks you up right by hotel..we advise not to rent a car in Waikiki...too much traffic. Spend your money on eating in some of the fantastic restaurants..
“Great base”
Not the lap of luxury, but clean, convenient and functional, with full kitchen. Friendly and helpful staff, free internet--cord provided!--location convenient to beaches, shopping and attractions. A great value for a family.
“Hidden bargain in the Waikiki beach area”
Loved our stay at the Ilima - not the fanciest hotel in Waikiki but among the best values. The rooms (many recently upgraded in 2008) are quite spacious, and (we stayed in a standard studio) come with full kitchenette, internet (ethernet, not wifi), and courteous service. The hotel itself is not in a visually great location - along the Ala Wai canal, shorter than most buildings, only the upper floors have a view of the ocean - but it is conveniently close to everything. Waikiki beach is an easy walk to, as are all the shops, restaurants, buses, clubs, and bars. On a particularly busy weekend, you might appreciate not being on Kalakaua Ave. Recommended for a budget family stay or just as a good home base on Waikiki.
“Good choice for Waikiki”
If you are looking for luxury this is not the place for you. But if you want a cconvenient location at an affordable price this is it. The staff was wonderful and we had no problem getting around the island from here. The windows are not soundproof and we were on the 8th floor which provided a nice breeze but some noise.
