“Nice place to stay.”
We had a very happy stay at the Ilikai Hotel. We had read all the reviews and we did have some worries before we got there. We never found the lifts to be a problem, crowded only at real peak times. The room was large, clean, well serviced, big kitchen, excellent King bed. The large balcony is a real plus.It is not a new Hotel, but it really must have been something in its day.It is at a quieter end of the Beach, but that for us was also a plus: and also a short walk to the Ala Moana Mall.
“Great hotel and location for "old" people”
We're two retired women in less than great physical condition - one of us had never been to Hawaii before. Our oceanview room was everything we'd hoped for. Clean, large, upgraded, great staff, beautiful hotel. View was wonderful - surfers, boats, beautiful changing ocean and skies, Diamond Head - alway something to see off the balcony when we didn't feel like running around. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, so we could catch a bus cheap or free and just ride on those days we didn't feel like being active - saved money on tours by taking those buses cheap. The ocean and lagoon were just minutes from our room - no long walking required to get to the water. Plenty of good restaurants within a couple of blocks. Booked the room on one of those travel websites for a great price - great value.
“Excellent value”
This is an older hotel but for the price it was an excellent value. It is located right on Waikiki beach. The view from our room on the 24th floor was excellent. The staff provided great service. The breakfast was filling although not at all fancy.
“We loved the Ilikai”
The most comfy hotel bed ever! Great service and conveniently located by lots of restaurants and shopping. We would definitely return!!
“Nice hotel for the price”
I liked the Ilikai. It is conveniently located next to but not in the middle of the Waikiki beach area. Yes, the elevators are slow and unreliable, but most guests just laugh about it and learn to use the service and bather's elevators. I had a city view room on the 23rd floor with a great view, including Diamond Head. If you're not an early riser, you'll be using the blackout drapes, but the sunrise over Diamond Head every morning was a real treat. And shade on the balcony in the afternoon made it a very nice cool place to sit and read. The hotel has been partially converted to apartments, so it's a little more residential and a bit quieter than the usual Waikiki resorts. One pool was closed "for maintenance" during my entire week's stay. It's a long walk through the marina parking lot to get to the beach. The restaurants were not crowded at all and the "Top of the I" Sarento's has a fabulous view for special occasions. There are lots of good eateries close by. It's nice to look out and see the greenery of Fort De Russy and not just asphalt and traffic, but the Ilikai doesn't have much in the way of its own gardens. The staff is particularly friendly and helpful. Parking is available on the site--something not all Waikiki hotels can boast about. All in all, I was pleased by the Ilikai, partly because of the good deal I got through Expedia.
“Get hotel”
I really enjoyed this hotel. When I booked I thought that the $20 per day valet parking was steep but the valet parkers were great. I will definately stay here again when I come back.
“Great place”
I did lots of research to find a good hotel that has an affordable price, I chose Ilikai, and what a great choice. The room was very clean, huge, and the bed was so very comfortable. We asked for a mini fridge, was pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to a full kitchen! Don't be put off by thinking that this place is at the end of Waikiki beach, we walked behind the hotel, and took us 5 minutes to get to Waikiki beach! With the money saved from going with this inexpensive hotel, we had more than enough to get a car rental and cover the $20 a day valet parking. And the valet attendants were very efficient, quick and helpful. The only negative thing here was the slow elevators. But we would definitely stay here again.
“Next time I will take more time”
Very good location , many activities to do close to the hotel,
“It's The Ilikai I remember once again”
Aqua Hotels has taken over management and things are good at the Ilikai. Work continues on the refurb, but it never got in our way. The room, although not yet redone, was VERY clean. Comfy beds. Love the larger rooms at the IIlikai. Staff were good. No elevator delays. All pointing toward a good future for this great old hotel. Lots of empty shop space in the area off the lobby - looking forward to seeing what is done with that. Room on marina side was nice and quiet. Good value.
“Loved our stay will return!!”
We really enjoyed the staff in the breakfast area, very nice sitting area by the falls or indoors. Everyone at the hotel even the maids made you feel at home and tAlked as if they knew you! Great place for the money!
