“Great Location & Value”

This is a condo/hotel. Some units are lived-in year round by the owners, & some are rented out by the owners. The room I stayed (516) in was in the hotel pool, & was serviced every third day. The quality & room conditions vary greatly, as the rooms are individually owned. I would stay here again, & actually am planning to next year.

“Convenience at a low price”

I will most likely go back to this hotel on our next visit. We had a small studio room which included a full kitchen with all the pots, pans, utensils, etc that we needed, it was great. Also had a futon for an extra bed. Room was very clean and simple and was only 1 block from Waikiki beach. Very convenient and great room for a great price.

“Convenient, Friendly, Economical”

Nice hotel situated at the end of the Waikiki strip...away from most of the commotion. Clean, comfortable room - small, but served its purpose. Didn't get a chance to visit the lounge on 2nd floor, but it sounded fun. Very quiet room. Proximity to beach was great - took about 2 minutes to walk to the beach. I would stay here again.

“Beautiful view”

We booked an ocean view room and were upgraded to the full kitchen rooms on the top floor. We did not have a private balcony but had the room next to the owners' suite and access to the full sundeck. This gave us an uninterrupted view of Diamondhead, Kuhio beach, the ocean and the Honolulu Zoo. It was beautiful! The room was comfortable with a large bathroom and kitchen. Convenient city location while feeling like you were in the country. The staff were very helpful and promptly fulfilled our requests. Highly recommended!

When to go
Canadians always want to go to Hawaii in the winter when it's a "sun destination". However, unlike the Caribbean, Mexico or Florida, Hawaii does not become unbearably hot in the summer and actually has it's most pleasant, dry weather from June to August. Consider Hawaii in the summer - the flights from Canada are at their cheapest! The only drawback is if you are going for the humpbacks who will have migrated to colder waters by then. The latest time to catch those beauties is early April. The worst time, in my opinion, to go is late November to mid-January when Hawaii experiences it's rainy season unless you are a surfer. The extra moisture and storms creates the legendary swells off the North Shores of the islands that experienced surfers crave. However it also cuts off access to certain attractions when roads get washed out or waterfalls become too dangerous to approach.

“Love the Waikiki Grand”

Great hotel and an excellent value. It is a condo hotel with a management company. All the rooms/condos are privately owned and will differ from one to the next. 901 is an excellent room and we have stayed in many others as well. The rooms are not serviced daily, but that is ok with us. Near the beach, very safe, on site parking when available for a fee, perfect location.

What to pack
Swimsuit, shorts and flip flops. Hawaii is very casual. I have been many times and always seem to overpack. Try to pack as little as possible.

“Can't wait to go back”

One thing I don't like is when the receptionist told me that my room will only be ready after 6 hours because the guest occupying the room will be leaving after lunch so I need to come back after and waited at the hotel lobby so I got no choice but to wait even though I was so tired and came directly from the airport. Next time they should prepare everything and make sure there are temporary rooms to be used by the guest waiting.

“OK for the price”

The first night we have ariived we were given room # 804, which was in very bad shape and had no balcony. The furniture looked like it was just picked up from garbage, and it even smelled. I went downstairs to the front desk immidiatly and told them what I found. The hotel staff were very nice and told us we will be given another room tomorow when someone moves out. That was just what they did. We gotten a much better room with balcony. It had a great kitchen with a full fridge, granite countertops, tiled bath and balcony, and nice furniture. It was a room #501. The units are individually owned, so the hotel does not have control over which one u get. But the first room we got was way below the addvertised quality, and, if we did not get the other room we would go to another hotel right then and there. Location is great, you r 100 yards from the beach and all the acction. Do rent a car and go to Kailua beach and Waimanalo Beach- its like going to Cancun. WHite sand and no rocks in the water. We saw turtles there too! Have fun

Area recommendations
The best beaches are Kailua and Waimanalo, its a 30 min drive, but worth seeing! Also, in Waikiki on Kuhio ave we found a great all-you-can eat seafood restaurante with sushi and crab legs and all kinds of chinese food as well. The lanch was very cheap and the place was close to us. They have a huge Craw fish statue in the front. You can't miss it if you walk down Kuhio from the hotel. It only goes one way- left. We also loved Hanauma Bay for snorkling. But the dinner cruse was disapointing. It was very pricy and we had no privacy. The little 3 story ship was so crowded with people. Instead of tables they had long benches and long table, kinda like a school cafeteria would. They sat all the people very close to each other, and allowed them to get up in groups to come for the buffet food. The food was terrible. It made Denny's look like a 5 star restaurante! So, don't waist a hundred bucks per person on that. I am sure there must be less crowded sail bots you can ride for that much money. Also, we went to Royal Hawaiian hotel ( the pink hotel) by the pool, and there is normally some entertainment going on. We saw a dance with fire. It was nice to go around other hotels to see what they offer for the future. SOme has nice bars overlooking the ocean that we sat in for a drink. SOme had rocking chairs we could relax in. Just explore!
Getting around
DO rent a car! Its a big island that is very easy to get around. Remember- you can't get lost!! The roads go in cirkles! Its and island.

“Nebraska Travelers”

My boyfriend and I stayed in Waikiki for the 1st time and found this hotel off of Expedia and by reading multiple reviews. Let me tell you...for the location you get and the price you pay...you can't beat it. Cute, quirky room with fridge, microwave and patio. We LOVED the hotel bar Hulas and all the staff. Perfect for the frugal traveler and I would definitely go back.
