“Great amenities and excellent location for a very low price”

I was expecting pretty bad conditions considering the reviews online. I have never stayed at a 2-star hotel. However, this hotel, despite its age, was much better than expected. It had a fridge, jacuzzi spa, PS2 for DVD's or games, a balcony, and free continental breakfast. I travel quite a bit and have stayed at many hotels and I don't think I have ever had all of the aforementioned amenities rolled into one location. Yes, it's an older building, the rooms are small, and there is some sort of wastewater pump station behind the building (which you don't smell unless you actually walk near it outside the hotel), but the location is fantastic and the staff was responsive and friendly. You are a hop/skip/jump from the beach and the shopping area. You have the magnificent Gyu-Kaku restaurant just outside the hotel (fantastic happy hour). I was disappointed not to have an iron and board but one was brought to my room within minutes once requested. The room was clean and the air conditioner kept it very comfortable when it was hot. I would definitely stay here again. I also stayed at the Aston Sunset and I was pleasantly surprised with that location as well.

Area recommendations

Oahu is a small island so the only location to really consider is Waikiki.

“No Joy at this hotel”

The hotel was "retro" in a not so good way; some of the fixtures and finishes were in poor condition. Housekeeping staff went into room when do not disturb sign was displayed. I had to pay extra for local calls and parking... The continental breakfast was just OK. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

“it was allright”

We expected wifi which they had a cort and the shortest one :} so we couldnt use it. and breakfast ah all pastry at least they could have had some eggs. Since we didnt really have to spend time in the hotel, it was allright. they get credit for location. It was in the middle attractions.

“Hawaii vacation”

The room was spacious and comfortable. Front desk was responsive to all our needs and requests. Room amenities were standard and reasonable. Convenient location, we were able to walk to anywhere within the Waikiki area. Great holiday, I wish I could stay longer

Area recommendations

The area closest to the beach is of course the best, but you are never really that far from anything in Waikiki.

When to go

You must do a circle island tour, go to Dole Pineapple plantation and swim in Hanama Bay. I heard from other travelers that the Paradise Cove is the best Luau. That is the one we attended and it was fabulous, a must see.

“Our Little Diamond!”

This hotel is what we use to call our personal "gem". It is an outstanding place for a little rest and relaxation, and as far as we know, it the only hotel to have a jet spa bathroom. It is located right in the heart of Waikiki, so getting drunk and getting home is easy! We will for sure be back, over and over!
